I've been coming here for over 10 years! Super friendly staff, very efficient. They offer whitening, which I love!

I had researched same day crowns but I found that they were not as strong as the ones that have to be custom made. The temporary crown was very strong and never came off. Dr Castillo fitted it just fine. Today I went back for the permanent crown. I opted to not have any pain killers and I didn't even need them!. Dr. Castillo did a wonderful job and made sure that my bite was correct. He is very meticulous in getting everything just right. Thanks to this dentist office for always taking time to explain everything. I am no longer afraid of going to the dentist!

At intake, the nurse that took my X-rays explained everything and even kept my mind preoccupied by making side conversation and making me laugh. Once I was evaluated and spoke to Dr. Castillo he explained my options and how he would like to proceed. He explained my options and prescribed a heavy antibiotic and stronger pain medication because my infection was severe. After a week of medication, I was scheduled for an extraction and the staff continued to provide the best customer service. The front office kept me calm and the nurse checked on me regularly as I took a sedative for the anxiety. Although I don't remember much of the procedure, the healing process has been easy. I had minimal bleeding, minor pain, and almost back to normal 2 days later. I will continue to visit Dr. Castillo and his staff! I feel so much better about dental visits.

The reason I came to this place is because I see that commercial late at night and figured I would give it a try since it's near my home. For me it is important that a office is maintained and that the front desk are friendly. Also, that the DDS makes me feel comfortable and safe. The front desk don't greet and don't say "thank you..." The room I was in had a water leak stain on the ceiling and a light fixture was a bit dangling. The trim of the door was rotten. When the DDS came in, his handshake was soft, LIMP. He doesn't look into the eyes and seems to be bothered by questions. He was probably in the room for under two minutes. The assistant (a sweet young girl) gave me the treatment plan and expressed that the DDS takes about 15 minutes for a root canal. NO THANK YOU. I ended up going to a SPECIALIST (endodontist) for those treatments. For this reason I give this place a low rating.

Dentist suggested a bridge costing some $3200. But they wanted cash, won't accept credit card or check. I had to go the bank to pay them; this was supposedly for a 10% discount. When I left the office to get the cash they told my wife if I'm not back in 15 minutes with the cash, it will be rescheduled. So rude. I have been a professor for 50 years at UTRGV and I educated nearly half of the graduates here. I was so humiliated. Prof. John P Abraham Ps I have no complaints about the doctor, it's office staff so rude. Why would they need currency, not a check?

I had such a GREAT experience with Dr. Ahmad Rabata, that I felt I had to write a review to help…read moresomeone else that might be looking for an AWESOME dentist. I needed a root canal and had initially gone to two different dentists before I found Dr. Rabata at Weslaco Family Dentistry. (Read last paragraph if you're pressed for time) The first dentist I went to was not only extremely overpriced but also seemed to be unsure what he was doing. After the initial exam his exact words to me were "You might need a fill in or a root canal (examines my teeth for 5 seconds), yeah ummm.... I'm leaning more towards a root canal." my response was "what do you mean you're leaning more towards a root canal? Do I need one or not?" he replied "Ummm.. I'm 99% sure you do." Those are not words I want to hear from a medical professional, who is talking about preforming a procedure that is going to cost me over $2,000 out of pocket. After going home and researching root canals, I decided against getting one because I read a few negative articles online about root canals stating that if the Dr. does not do it right it might cause other medical problems. So the only alternative was getting my tooth pulled. I went to a different dentist for a 2nd opinion, he also told me that i needed a root canal. I told him that I would rather get my tooth pulled because of the negative things I had read online. He laughed and said "Okay, you're paying for it, I'll do what ever you want." he made NO attempt to make me change my mind or advise me about the negative effects pulling my tooth might have in the long run. I scheduled my appointment for later that week. That night I was in so much pain I looked online and saw that Weslaco Family Dentistry took in walk in patients with dental emergencies. That morning I called the office and the staff was able to schedule me for that same afternoon. When Dr. Rabata saw me he actually took time to examine my tooth and explain that I needed a root canal. I voiced my concern about root canals, and asked if he could just pull my tooth instead, and get an implant. Dr. Rabata actually took time and strongly advised me against pulling the tooth and explained the long run dental problems that might arise from pulling it. He also explained getting an implant was much more expensive. He also made me feel reassured that he knew what he was doing and was confident that a root canal was my best option. He took time to show me a video of what the procedure looked like. I felt that he was really sincere when he told me that he would advise one of his family members the same thing if they were sitting in my position. The root canal went flawlessly and in retrospect I'm so happy that the Dr. talked me out of pulling my tooth. Also, I want to add that all his staff was great including Fermin Paz the dental assistant who helped every visit go smoothly.
