It's been a long time since I've shopped at an Akira and I had a ton of fun looking around at what they had. They offer items that you can wear to all different kinds of events; most being very unique. Lots of the stuff isn't my style, but I did see a few items I liked. Sadly, they either didn't fit right or were too expensive for me. The biggest turn off were the employees. They are loud and rude and not helpful. There was a dressing room open so I went to use it and an employee nearly bit my head off for doing so cuz, apparently, it was reserved for his "client." Not sure how I was supposed to know that. Akira offers alot of stylish and unique clothing. This location to me has more bold, flashy and eccentric outfits. The only thing that takes away from your shopping experience are the loud mouth employees. One of the workers working up front was so loud and obnoxious. The loud music playing in the store is already enough. My 3 star review is for the fashionable clothing, accessories and shoes. I do not recommend buying anything from this store. I ordered 2 pairs of shoes for Black Friday, my order was not shipped for 13 days. It is impossible to contact them, there is no phone, AI answers the emails. Somehow I contacted them, they apologized and gave a $10 discount, which is ridiculous, and sent the package. I see that they sent it in partially. I am emailing them again. The answer comes with the attitude that the product is sold out, we returned your money. That's it. That is, do whatever you want, buy wherever you want and it doesn't matter that it was on a discount day. I told them that brands don't work like that and offer me an alternative. No, we sold out of that item. Communication is absent, even if you are lucky and a live person writes back, they communicate with attitude. So if you want your order to arrive on time and completely bypass this store. read more

On Saturday, August 30, my daughter and I experienced offensive and abysmal customer service from a representative named Alante at the 1814 North Avenue location. My daughter attempted to return a green bodysuit purchased from Alante on Friday, August 29. We have shopped frequently at this and other locations and never experienced such poor service. Alante told my daughter she could not return the bodysuit because it smelled of perfume. This is a women's clothing store, and women usually wear perfume when trying on clothes. This violates store policy, which allows customers to return items for store credit. My daughter reminded him that the day before, he had agreed that she could return the body suit. Then Alante said he would not accept the exchange because there was no tag. At this point, my daughter came to me and explained what was going on. I approached Alante and asked for the return to be processed. He refused and stated that he was the manager of the store and other stores in Michigan. I told Alante I would not be shopping at this store in the future. Alante continued to be rude and dismissive so we left. Later in the day, on Saturday, August 30, we successfully returned the body suit at your Orland Park location. read more

Great styles for going out. My Girlfriend loves buying an outfit for special evenings.

I ordered some items from Akira. I paid $18 for two day shipping. My items were delivered In 3 days not 2. also the UPs person didn't even make an attempt to deliver the package (I was outside waiting) so he took it to the UPS store where I had to go pick it up. Then to add insult to injury I have to pay for returning the items. I returned the items on Aug 6,2024 for my refund they received it on the 8th. it is now the 20th and I still haven't received my refund. I emailed customer support they said it takes 14 business days to process a refund but it only takes 2 seconds for them to take the money. This is ridiculous. So if you return an item be assured it will be almost 3-4 weeks before you get a refund and if you pay for express shipping don't be surprised if it comes in 4 days. And you will have to pay for shipping even though you paid for it to be shipped to you. zero stars It's frustrating read more

We came in to this Akria quite late last night and the sales associates were SO kind and SO helpful and got us dressing rooms and gave the three of us very good advice! I was a little nervous that we stayed a few minutes passed close and didn't want to bother them but they were so friendly and gave us coupons for our next visit. It's a nice hidden stop outside the traditional line of of high stores located on a Main Street although you wouldn't expect it to be there. It's slightly West of the highway on.North Avenue. Our family members was able to find a few pieces at the right price. It's a store that long for a city neighborhood store and still has the selection of variety that most people like in a store like this. Parking might be tough on a busy day although you might find a spot across the street. Great for you to take a quick peek. We were at the Urban Outfitters on Clark before we visited this place. It's a short drive of 10 minutes between these two stores by car. We would go visit if we go past this area again. I have a first few pictures for the store. Today is my Birthday and I've been to 3 different boutiques and couldn't find ANYTHING that screams "ITS MY BIRTHDAY.!! " Well that QUICKLY changed once I walked into Akira in Buck-town.!! I initially walked in stressed and over it and while browsing I came across Ed one of the store managers and he greeted me with such an friendly and calming vibe and asked if I was okay and if I found everything okay. I showed him a picture of what she was wearing and he said give my one second and when I say it really was a SECOND.!! He came back with an outfit not only similar but the moment I saw it I put back what was in my hand with no hesitation.! My heart dropped when I seen how fast he put together a full outfit , shoes and accessories.! Quality is good. The ladies that work in the store are always so friendly and helpful. Some of the prices are a bit high...but they do have good sales a lot of the time. Fun shoes and accessories for sure. I went during the black Friday weekend with friends and they had so many different styles available in different sizes. My friends and I vary in sizes, but we had no difficulty finding tops and outfits for each other. I believe the woman that helped me was named Casey. She was really amazing and accommodating. My friends and I didn't feel unwelcomed and we received a lot of help from her like picking out additional styles to try and finding better sizes. Their prices were also pretty reasonable. I would ask for Casey again (I really hope I don't have her name wrong) because she made our experience really positive especially since I had some friends with me that deal with body dysmorphia and body insecurities. This is a very interesting place. The clothing is quite different. I did find a few pieces that would fit my style, the prices seemed reasonable, but I couldn't tell who was staff and noone asked if I needed help when I was desperately looking for someone to assist me with a dress that was up a bit to high for me to reach. Kinda turned off after the sassy customer service I got from this from this place. I went on Small Business Saturday and since I remember Akira from when I lived over on Clark n Fullerton I made the comment to the clerk, "I'm glad to see you're participating in Small Business Saturday." Her reply was, "Were not a small business." So nevermind all the signs in the store said 50% off everything! Yet when I picked out some leggings that were in some boxes and went up to the counter and found that these were not 50% off. So I guess they are a corporate business then. Advertising one thing and making exceptions to certain items. Kevin did it again! I called from Florida the day before I arrived and he had a dressing room ready for me at the exact time I arrived and a glass of wine. The next day was my birthday and I was headed to Vegas that night. I did not have a bathing suit for the trip but Kevin took care of that and found me an adorable cover up, sunglasses and comfortable heels while on the strip. The heels were soooo comfortable and as usual he hyped me up during my try on session and I walked out feeling like a million bucks. Everytime I come to Chicago I must go to this Akira. I was in Chicago visiting my sister and her husband for the weekend.My sister took Toria and I to this store for some shopping, but due to the $25 per bag fee Continental loves to hit you with and the fact my bag was already full, I only window shopped. I did see a lot of things I would have purchased had that not been an issue. Like a very cute double breasted gray peacoat, which happened to be on sale! Honestly I love the selections available at this store and the stylist that helped us out was so kind and funny but it was all ruined by (who I presumed to be) the manager. We had been in the store for about 15 mins browsing through their sale items when this lady came up to me and said she needed to take my book bag because it was store policy. I handed her my bag not thinking much about it, just that it was weird I have been in the store for so long and interacted with other employees and she is just now asking for my bag. Anyway I would have forgotten all about this encounter but then she came and found me in the fitting room talking really fast and apologizing and saying she wasn't trying to racially profile my sister and I. We had noticed other people were also carrying book bags but it wasn't until someone else brought it to her attention that she also asked for their bags. She kept on repeating that she wasn't racist or trying to profile us but it sounded like she was just trying to convince herself. If she honsetly wanted to apologize I would undestand but it kind of just seemed she got called out and wanted to make herself feel better. So overall I don't think I'll be stopping by again becasue of how uncomfortable we felt by the end of our experience there. Maybe some training is needed for their staff. read more

I've been to several different locations but I LOVE this particular one. I was greated as soon as I hit the door by Kevin, who was upbeat and asked if I needed anything Particular. I told him I needed a Bday outfit and I had been striking out at every store I've been to. Kevin said, we're going to turn it around today! Akira is such a breath of fresh air amid all the boring and cheaply made clothes that have taken over the virtual racks of online retailers (I'm looking at you, Tobi.com) and stores like Forever 21. This store is filled with body suits, skirts, dresses, rompers, shorts, etc--in casual, going out, and formal styles. If you're on the market for interesting pieces for a special occasion, look no further. The clothes are unique and well made, so the prices exceed that of stores like Forever 21, but they also have a great sale section. +You can sign up for their rewards program where they give you $20 off for every $300 spent. The girl that helped us (her name might have been Shannon?) was so friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, well dressed, etc. I could go on forever. She really went above and beyond. Alex was the best! Helped me out so much and is strongly passionate about fashion and helping one find what looks best and makes them feel best. I told him I was going to a baby shower so he brought out so many cute outfits that fit the occasion, simple & beautiful for me to try on. He guaranteed I'd leave content and I absolutely did. I walked out with one heck of a belt haul, but I found it hard to ignore the number of actually really cute dresses that seem to be made for women without torsos. The clothes here may be cute but they fit a very specific body type and my body is is definitely not that type. I also like that they carry Melissa brand shoes (though obviously in more abundance across the street at Akira Shoes). The employees are helpful, but something about the tone is always very disingenuous. Sometimes you want something sexy, and if you don't want to break the bank, you go to Akira. A slinky, come-hither dress? Bought it. What about a coquettish one-shoulder black top? My latest find. You're not going to find quality here, but the trendy garments are on point. Once the clothes start unraveling they're usually outdated anyway. Oh, and they have those amazing wrap dresses in, the ones you take on a beach vacay that you can arrange 20 different ways if you're nimble (halter, strapless, one-shoulder, etc).
