I purchased a brand new roof from AKG Roofing and Specialty Services, INC and AKG Inspection Services, Inc. in 2016, which came with a 10-year warranty. Unfortunately, it has been a nightmare dealing with them ever since. The roof has always had a leak that I've complained about numerous times. Getting them to come and fix their work is extremely difficult and inconsiderate. I have had to take time off work multiple times to meet the roofers, only for them not to show up. They scheduled a repair for Monday at 8:15 am, but no one showed. When I called to complain, they said they meant Wednesday. I took more time off work, but they still didn't show. Now, my ceiling is leaking badly in my room, and they are refusing to pay for the interior damages. Had they come and fixed the roof properly the first time, I wouldn't be out of pocket. I do not recommend this company. If you do have them come out for repairs, I strongly advise you to go on the roof yourself to inspect their work. On one occasion, they didn't seal the area properly. If you can't inspect the roof yourself, hire a third-party inspector to do it. Their repair work is very poor, and I still have a leak. I feel they are just trying to dodge my complaint until my warranty expires. That is why I am leaving this review--to prevent others from experiencing the same issues. Look for another company. I signed a contract with this company on 1/22/18 and gave them a deposit on 1/25/18 so they can replace my roof that was damaged by Hurricane Irma. I was told that they would start the work in 2 weeks as soon as the permits were approved. The permits were approved on the 2nd week of February and we are now on the 2nd week of June and no work has been done on my roof. For the past 5 months have been calling and emailing them and every time Gabriella or Lidice answer the phone they give me an excuse on why my roof cannot be started. They say they are behind on other jobs and I have to wait two weeks. Those 2 weeks have turned into 5 months and now hurricane season has started and I'm still with a tarp on my roof from the previous hurricane. It's sad to see Contractors that take advantage of people after a natural disaster. Think twice before hiring this company. Their customer service is horrible and if the start and end date is not listed on the contract then don't sign it. read more

We had recently contacted AKG for a roof replacement service. They were polite attentive and gave us an appointment the next day to give us a free estimate. Alex the estimator was very knowledgeable and gave us plenty of information about the roof proposal. We were told About the 10-12 week lead time to start the project and the project was started at about 13 weeks. Many other roofers in the industry had given us lead times of up to 6 months. It has since been a few weeks since akg has completed the job and after tropical storm on Labor Day has passed we have not had one leak. It is safe to say that AKG did the job they were supposed to. They told my insurance company that instead replace my roof they can make reparations for $2,800. For that reason my insurance company deny mi claim. The job was done horrible. For example, instead of replace a wood that was damaged by the water, they just cover the hole with a lithe piece of plywood. They did not replace the broken tile. As a result, the water has came again by the same place after the last storm. read more

It was easy to work with their admin assistant to schedule an appointment and other business needs. The inspectors were punctual, professional, and made sure to explain each deficiency in detail along why it needed to be cured. We were very satisfied with their feedback and recommendations, and would highly recommend to anyone needing home inspection services. UPDATE - Unfortunately, we are suffering with AKG's roofing repair services. In an attempt to be proactive and schedule our roof repair in advance, we have been unable to receive confirmation or any communications related to our roof repair after our deposit was paid and a follow-up email and call (we initiated) took place. I was rented at a house that had "passed" the house inspection but had major plumbing issues; leaky pipes, low water pressure, etc... We immediately started looking to move out and considering an inspection company that will actually do their job and not the one the realtor recommended. A friend of mine told me about AKG, I found them on yelp and gave them a call. The experience from beginning to end was great. The inspection was thorough, Hector and Alex are very detailed oriented. They found minor electrical problems the house had with the potential of turning into something bigger. They solved the issue at an initial stage saving me time and money. I hated the idea of having to replace my roof even more that I hate buying a new car. It is hard to trust the salesman and you really need to know what you are getting. After getting 3 other estimates, I went with AKG based on a neighbors recommendation and Joe Hernandez treatment of my questions and concerns and the time he was willing to put in to make me comfortable with what was going to happen and what the best roofing application for my home would be. Bottom line: I got a completely new roof for less than one company was proposing for a partial roof with some special coating, which is not made for residential use. They were in constant contact about the process. The project manager, Mike, is very communicative and helpful and they got the job done before the heavy rains could cause anymore damage in my house. They were clean and courteous and handled every aspect, including closing out the permits and bringing me all receipts. They inspected a 900 square foot apt for me recently. They claimed that the dishwasher was in fair condition. I moved in the next month and had to replace the unit immediately as it did not run a full cycle. It cost me $550. We also inadvertently paid them twice for the inspection report. When we asked for a refund, they said that they only received one payment. We had to send them proof of both payments being deducted from our bank account. Still no refund. Our realtor ended up refunding the double payment. read more

They showed up early and finish quickly, but missed that 3 ceiling fans and two overhead lights were broken and possibly wired incorrectly, which I now have to pay to fix on my own. This was not sublte: they just must not have checked the light switches. I hope they didn't miss anything else. UPDATE: They did miss other things. We used AKG to handle a roof repair. The damage had been noted by our termite company when they did their annual inspection. AKG responded quickly to our call, provided a written estimate, and scheduled and completed the work promptly. I have one negative comment. Their workmen left their trash loose in our recycling bins, trash bins, and yard. I had to fish out wet coffee cups, cigarette packs, and cigarette butts, which I very much did not appreciate. read more

In a town where service is often hard to find, this company has it right. I always got a friendly voice when I called, and they were aware of my time line and progress. They confirmed with me every step of the way, and were upfront about all costs. The husband and wife team are on top of everything, and take pride in their work. AKG roofers was highly recommended for my reroof. Unfortunately, I can't pass on the same kudos. Since my re-roof There have been multiple leaks on the flat areas. AKGs response was to advise me there is no leak only horizontal rain. The worse part was after Irma, and 3 sprung leaks ... they informed me they were not responsible and my warranty was no longer valid. The quote to fix their roof came in 2X higher then other reputable roofers. 2xs higher quote to remedy the problems caused by their improper installation. My roof had over driven nails along with improperly installed flashing. Stay away from AKG. If you have problems, they will not stand by their work. read more

Well, I just got a good dose of AKG and can give you a pretty good idea of how they operate. First, I'l tell you I am in construction so I have a good grasp of the industry. The owner, who did my inspection, seemed to be very knowledgeable and all things considered, I am pleased with his inspection. Did he make a couple mistakes? yes, but look folks, inspections are tough and without x-ray vision or psychic powers, it's hard to be perfect. I hired his company to do about $4k of the repairs I needed to the roof and their job was very mediocre, however my roof tiles were discontinued so they prob did the best they could. I have seen much worse. The large area of repair stands out because it is not nice and flat like the rest of the roof but I come to find out that is a difficult task when you can't match tiles. The tiles are a bit wavy over the repair. All the other repairs, and there were many, came out very nice. The workers were VERY respectful, very nice, and really tried to be as accommodating as possible. Only one guy spoke English but he was 100% fluent and that's all I require. Would I use them again? maybe... Having the licensed owner come by to see the final work would certainly have added piece of mind. When you meet somebody, like them, hire them, and pay them a lot of money, I think you have an expectation that they are doing some quality control. Update: Having just spoke to the Owner, I now realize that my tiles were outdated and impossible to match and given their options, AKG did the best they could to repair damaged areas. I also must add that Joe was extremely helpful during my closing and had I not had his support, I might have lost this home. It seems there were many mis-understandings that could have been avoided had the owner and I touched base after the work was done and I feel pretty sure he understands that and will be touching base with customers more in the future. I must add that I really like this guy. He is the type of person I really like to do business with. After this talk, I would probably do business with AKG in the future. read more

I found this company on Angie's List. From great reviews on there I decided to use them for my condo inspection. I was not disappointed. I had to reschedule a bunch of times because the current owners of the property kept changing the schedule and AKG was very accommodating and friendly. The price was competitive.
