Instead, they told me that it "might intimidate" the other party instead of having my interest at heart (i.e. their client). The law office did absolutely nothing while on retainer. Besides "research" and telling me I had to file paperwork on my own to accomplish my goals (simple support arrangement), which conveniently we spoke about three separate times and they forgot about each time. The law office sent my personal information to an email address that was not used for communication (for 15 months prior) or indicated on the retainer that I sent them at the start of our arrangement for representation. When the email bounced back to the law office, they never reached out to me for clarification.

When I didn't know what else to do, I went ahead and contacted a lawyer who had given him a good online review to ask whether the positive review was a mistake. I suppose the other lawyer did reach out to him about my concerns because Mark responded soon after, and asked me to send paper work relevant to the case. When he had all the information compiled, he sent me a message informing me that he was going to contact the Florida bar about suing me for libel, because I had written the other lawyer about his non responsiveness. He then proceeded to use this threat as a reason to ask me to pay him the other half of the money, which we had initially agreed would be paid after the case was approved. I refused. We had some back and forth after that, but I didn't trust him anymore and the threat of a lawsuit worried me, so I stopped all communication with him. I did not ask for my down payment back. I just wanted to not have anything to do with him anymore. Maybe he would have completed my case. I guess I will never know, but I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. Hire Mark at your own risk. I have the emails to prove it.
