Ajs Coffee is a gem. Ever since I moved to the area, I have not gone a week without visiting this cute little shop nestled in a pretty busy intersection. At first glance, I thought this was one of those bikini coffee stops where the employees are scantily clad (not necessarily complaining) and the business model was "so so coffee served by hot chicks". I was surprised when I rolled up the drive thru to see nothing like that. All the employees that I have met so far have been nothing but friendly and super patient with my indecisiveness. If you don't want to go with the drive thru option, you can also park in the parking lot that its located in, and walk up to the side window. Ah, too cute! I am a sucker for details and little unique things that make this spot definitely on my list of "bay area staples". Must I also add that your first extra shot of espresso is on the house? It was pretty fast service considering that there was only one girl taking orders and making drinks. I went early at 630am and there was a line of cars on both sides of the stand. I ended getting a black and white mocha with almond milk. They also have soy milk for the lactose intolerant. This is my third time come here and they have always been friendly and fast with their service. It right down my street so I will be back. read more

I've been a long time customer of AJ's and I don't say that loosely, for the sake of this review and context I have been going to this specific location in Hayward off B st for over 8years. In that time I moved a couple hours away but still made it a point to come back and frequent often I loved their coffee and staff. To the point where the owner and his wife know myself and my family. SADLY all this has recently changed to hurt the customers needs for this particular location. Recently they have changed staff so often the coffee does not hold the same weight however the CAUTION here is they changed their large from what used to be 32oz to 24oz but still charge the same. To make matters worse they often do not fill your coffee and leave it half empty. I do not make this review lightly as I love this place but if your going to try this because what locals say do yourself a favor and just go to STARBUCKS at least they you know what your getting and not being disappointed by the lack of product this place has. Oh LAST thing The Pacifica ca, location STILL sells their large at 32oz go check out for yourself if your near to confirm how much they changed to hurt there customers. This is so sad as I'm a long lasting Community member and the community this location sits in has been talking about how we dislike the way you are treating your customers and robbing us for your own gain. read more

I've know about this place for awhile now but finally got a chance to try it out. I got their green tea smoothie and OMG I was beyond impressed. The green tea flavor was a perfect until my last sip without being overly sweet. They have variety of coffee and cold drinks along with pastries which I'm sure are all great in taste . Another great perk is that they have a drive-thru window so you don't have to get out of your car. Quick and friendly service and I will definitely be back to try the other drinks. read more

Alright. I have been considering writing a review of this place for a LONG time. Disclaimer: I do still stop here from time to time only because it is FAST, other than that, its a complete waste of money to be honest. Where do I start? Their espresso drinks are inconsistent. Get a latte and it tastes like warmed over milk. Get a flavored drink and it just tastes like sweetened milk. Knowing this I often ask for added shots of espresso, which they do charge me for, and nine times out of ten, even after paying a dollar for more espresso, it still just tastes like milk. Once in a blue moon, I will get a drink that is strong and tastes just about right and it gives me hope, and the next time I go, its back to milk. I never know what I am going to get, so whenever I am short on time and decide to stop here, I just hope for something decent. I understand it's a small business and they need to charge whatever to make ends meet, but I have a problem justifying prices higher than chain coffee shops while you are serving garbage. And 50 cents to add whipped cream to a beverage that is marketed as having whipped cream is just ridiculous. Owner is a jerk. Have observed him time and time again treating his employees like trash. He has gotten a little better it seems since when they first opened, but not by much. The baristas are nice enough most of them are very friendly which makes me feel awful for writing this review, but it a review of the shop and I can't lie just because the baristas are nice. They also do their best to remember the drinks of regular customers to help their service go even quicker. Good effort on their part, I'm sure that isn't easy. So yea, this place sucks balls. I've been to AJs 3 times now and I have concluded that their coffee is bomb!! I had only recently learned about this little place, so I decided to try it. it is actually quite a distance from my home on the west side of Hayward, but it's worth the drive. I also like that it is a drive through, not that I'm lazy, but I enjoy quick yummy coffee. I have tried 3 different coffees and all have been great. unfortunately I don't remember exactly what I got. also, there is a young man that works there that is very nice and sweet. he adds to the experience!! Really irritated at this place. I ordered my usual as I always do and the girl looked at me and told me $5.20 and I gave her my cc and went back to looking at my phone. Within a matter of seconds my cc transaction flashed on my screen and it posted $5.80 transaction that just came through. I was a little baffled and I asked the girl how much was the drink. And she knew she was shady because she had a deer in headlights look and said "my boss says we have to charge an extra .60 for your extra scoop of chai". So I am thinking what the hell does that have to do with you telling me one price then taking my cc and immediately charging me another price? So I am just staring at her trying to process what just happened which is them just trying to jip me. She then looked at me and told me she can refund me back the $.60. Ummm yeah!!!! Saying it like she was doing me a favor for trying to rip me off. And I don't care if it's only "$.60 or not. It's the principal!!! Secondly, if your boss tells you to now charge an extra $.60 for the extra scoop of chai then you tell that to the customer before they purchase the item so the customer can decide if they want to spend their hard earned money on it or not!!! So if you go here pay in cash or ask for a receipt. They may rip you off! Their barista had no clue I had my transactions immediately posted to me. Shady! read more

I like the mad AJs this is 100% better then star bucks great flavor to the end . Un like star bucks at the end of the fraps you have lots of ice and very little or no flavor. So far all of our friends and family have been very pleased with AJs. THE DRINKS ARE ALSO LARGER AT AJs.
