    Beef Awaze Tibs

Very yummy!!! I've been craving Ethiopian food for a while and this hit the spot! I went around 1:45-2:00 and it was not too busy. The staff was very nice and polite when I came in. The woman that prepared my order even gave me some extra lentils to try with my beef tibs and injera. They were serving and informing another group about the food they were eating, explaining how to pronounce it, and what it was made of. The dining room was very clean and so spacious, I hope to come back with friends. I loved the art work around the restaurant as well as the calming music and waterfall on the TV. The parking outside is convenient and the wait time was not bad at all!! I cannot WAIT to come back. My friends at Vandy will love it.

Some vegetarian options: collard greens, beans with carrots, lentils, split peas, injera bread.

We were so happy to find an Ethiopian restaurant in Nashville! The owner was super-nice and she seemed genuinely interested that we make our own Ethiopian food at home! For the lunch special, you can choose 4 vegetarian options or 1 meat and 2 vegetarian. Very reasonable pricing for the amount of food you get! While Ethiopian cuisine eats the food by scooping it up inside the injera bread, they do offer utensils. :) I enjoyed being able to see all of the food items before choosing what to order. Spouse got the last of the beef tibs and was lucky to try them. I got all vegetarian options and everything was excellent! The injera bread was a bit thicker than we are used to from the restaurants we're accustomed to but it was still good quality. No-frills dining space but clean and inviting. You can also eat out in the court area of Arcade Alley just outside the shop. Excellent food here, and refreshing to have a different type of cuisine!

I was downtown for work again. I walked through the arcade and the tempting smells of Ajora Ethiopian came out into the arcade. I went in and ordered. My overall experience was good, but it was not the best Ethiopian. Since its probably the only Ethiopian downtown though, I can't complain too much. The staff was friendly and nice. Food: Miser wot was good. As expected. The Kik was too hot temperature wise. Scalded my tongue. The Injera was not soft, and seemed old. It didn't have the spongy feel to it. The Tikel gomen was good. And the Dinich wot was good. I ate it all with no complaints. Still, Although not the best, I feel good supporting them versus a mega chain

    Chicken with 4 Sides

Not the best Ethiopian food; the food itself is 3/5. We tried both meats and 8 out of the 12 possible sides, here are our impressions: The beef was flavorful and the red lentils (which were mildly spicy) were very tasty. Paired with the sponge bread (injera), they made for several great bites. My girlfriend liked chickpeas the most. Rice was good, and will bulk up the meal significantly, but it's not needed as we already were given a ton of food. Chicken was on the dry side (consequence of breast meat sitting for too long), and collard greens were tasteless. Black beans and the rest were okay - nothing special. Tasted like lower-salt, lower-fat food (which is awesome considering how unhealthy everything around here is), but this will effect the flavor of things accordingly. While the food was not smack-you-over-the-head full of flavor, this place had several other things going for it: the prices are solid, the portion sizes are large, and the hospitality is really great. It was valuable as an experience, and worth checking out once. Tip: get the bread and use that as a food vessel.

I haven't Yelpped recently but this place made me pull out my phone. Found myself downtown around lunch. Headed to the Arcade and am so glad I found this gem. I opted for the veggie combo. The staff was friendly and guided me through a rainbow of vegetarian options for my combo. I selected the greens, cabbage, red miser (lentils), and kik (split peas) with injera (that famous Ethiopian bread.) First bite, I'm in heaven. The flavors pop, yet are balanced. The red lentil taste a little of cinnamon. Not always my taste, but they do it in such a way that it's delightful. Take a diehard meateater here and you'll change his/her mind that meat makes a meal. This stuff is delicious and filling, yet not too much. I was able to finish my meal completely. This would be a fantastic introduction to Ethiopian food. Then you can browse the rest of the Arcade for something sweet or a nice cup of coffee.

Excellent change from the downtown lunch sandwich. Ethiopian cuisine check it out.

I went with five other friends and we shared two meat and veg combos and one other meat dish which was a great amount of food for the six of us. I will also add that so often at first it seems like it might not be enough food, but the Injera that they serve with everything which is the bread that you use to eat, is so yummy and filling that you will feel so happy with the meal. We ordered the combos with Kik Alicha (Yellow Split Peas), Shiro Wet (Ground Chickpeas), Potato & Beets, Mushroom Wet, Key Wet (Beef), Yebeg Alicha (Lamb), Doro Wet (Chicken), and Minchet Abish Dega (Beef). Honestly, I could not always tell which dish was which, but they were all so yummy that it really doesn't matter (also you can totally tell which is which based on the great description from the menu haha). Can't wait to go back again in the future! Also parking can be a little tricky. I have never had a problem with parking since they do have their own parking lot, but depending on how busy they are it can get full so just be on the lookout for that!

We waited 20 mins before we were asked for our beverage order and even longer to order food. We stayed because of our excitement to try. The server kept forgetting our order and never told me the appetizer I ordered was sold out until I asked. I got the veggie plate and was disappointed because my food came out cold. My friends got the lamb and chicken, they hated it. I was told the meat was tough and not cooked well. Overall, none of us liked our food and will not go back

I know there's a menu, but when my friend and I walked in, she just asked us if we wanted meat or veggie (probably because we are very white and don't appear like we would know anything about ethiopian food, which is fair). We told her we like both meat and veggie, and she told us she would bring out a plate for us to share. When she brought us our plate, we instantly just smelled absolute deliciousness. The large platter was lined with injera, and then also came with 4 rolls of injera bread on the sides. We were given Tibs, shiro (lentil/chickpea stew), yellow peas, green beans, and some stewed collards. When I tell you EVERYTHING was good, I mean it. Everything was so delicious and flavorful. Dig into the injera bread with your hands and taste all the stews. The injera bread has a perfect fluffy texture with a sour taste, and I genuinely could not tell you which stew was our favorite. I am OBSESSED. It was all so so so good. It is more expensive than I imagined (we EACH paid $27 for the meal plus a waterbottle each), but utterly worth it. The one platter was more than enough for 2 of us, and we still had leftovers.

I assume that they're Eritrean (Habesha cousins of Ethiopians) because the names of my favorite dishes seem to be a different language from their Ethiopian counterparts' Amharic. But the flavor was never lost in translation! I ordered Combo # 3 for $18.99. It comes with your choice of 4 vegetables (out of 5 preselected options) and one salad (out of three preselected choices). The side choices are quinoa, injera, or white rice. I confirmed with them that they use teff, meaning the injera is gluten free. They also offer 3 spice levels: regular, spicy, and extra spicy. I love all five vegetable options so it was hard to decide. I ended up choosing the Red Lentils, Yellow Lentils, Tikil Gomen (the cabbage dish), and Collard Greens. Everything was excellent! 10/10! (Everything I ordered was vegan and gluten free.) I ordered spicy because I love spicy food. But let me tell you... I was not prepared for the authentic African spices they hit me with. My bad! I will never underestimate them again. I had to literally sit the injera on my tongue first, then put the food in my mouth in order to finish my meal. LOL Next time I'll be a good little American and order it the normal way. I'll try their fosolia (green beans and carrots) next time. The Shiro also looks good, but it's only available as a full entree. They operate out of a food hall, so it's take out only. I ordered online and my food was ready at the promised time. The customer service was excellent and the lady (whom I'm assuming was the owner) was very nice and helpful. I will definitely order from them again.

However, one was a vegan combo, which was just what I wanted. He said it would take 15', so I just waited in my car. When I came back, it was ready to go. $15.99. I paid via Apple Pay with my watch, and Square or whatever emailed my receipt. Easy peasy. The take-out container had nice napkins but no utensils. That's because Ethiopian food is meant to be eaten by hand, with the injera. (Google it.) Thankfully, plenty of injera was included. Food was delish. The middle item was spicy, which I didn't ask for, but I'm not complaining! I should've actually asked for everything that spicy! =) Would totally get again.
