Specialties

This is a public golf course, restaurant & lounge in the beautiful Sonoran desert. The golf course is open year round from dawn to dusk. The restaurant & lounge are open seasonally roughly October thru April; current hours are as posted. During the winter months we have special golf tournaments and other events. The first weekend of every February we are home to the annual Ajo Old Time Fiddlers Contest; 2022 will be the 43rd year of the event. We have banquet facilities available for rent. We have an RV park with 10 full hook up sites and dry camping too. Our atmosphere is scenic and casual. Fun, good food, and drink at low prices is our specialty. We also offer FREE wifi.

History

Established in 1946.

The Ajo Country Club dba Ajo Community Golf Course is over 60 years old and was originally the officers club for the Air Force in the 1940s. Since then, it was slowly converted to a golf course and Country Club by miners working with "borrowed" equipment from the nearby copper mine. The property is leased from Pima County and the business is owned and operated by its membership. Although is was once an exclusive membership club it is now open to the public and serves as an important recreational and social resource for the region.

Yvonne is a member of the Ajo Community Golf Course who volunteers her time as manager of the restaurant and lounge. She enjoys making customers happy and helping to provide a fun and affordable place to eat, drink, and socialize for the residents and visitors of Ajo.
