Looking for a beach in Aird Uig on Saturday 13 July 2019 I had heard about, I found a village and spotted a space in the scenery that looked like it might have a beach while driving along the main road. Finding a small space tucked off the road to park, I made my way to a trail on the side of the road that went down to a rocky beach.
Across the valley from the trail to the beach were short stone walls in the grass. Perhaps for livestock, perhaps remnants of times past, perhaps both. The beach was quiet with tiny waves lapping at the shore. Rocks composing the beach were larger and well rounded. Some looked like the Lewisian gneiss I had read about before my Scotland heritage travel trip in July 2019. It was breezy though not windy. read more
