The photographer is incredibly patient and professional, yet makes the session feel fun and natural -- no stiff poses, no "say cheese" nonsense. The photos themselves are amazing. Every shot captures genuine smiles and personality, whether it's a family session, a beach backdrop, or just everyday moments. You leave with images that look effortless but feel full of character. From start to finish, the experience is smooth and enjoyable. The staff make you feel comfortable, guide you through poses naturally, and ensure the end result is something you'll actually want to display. Highly recommend for anyone wanting professional photos without the awkwardness of a traditional studio.

She handled both events professionally and with a great eye for framing, lighting and spontaneity. Richel Lavette is the consummate professional photographer. Her skill set includes image set up, proper lighting, images that tell a story, taking charge of large group photos with incredible tact, and looking for the small details that make a good image even better. Ms. Lavette can see what others do not. Her experience, and speed in finding the right images tell an unparalleled story. She requires initial input from the client, and once she understands the priorities, Richel can work independently with little to no supervision. But, beyond her obvious skills as a photographer, she has a strong work ethic and is always ready to capture a spontaneous moment that some photographers simply do not see. Her people skills are outstanding, and is always encouraging people to smile, and have fun while being photographed. Her greatest skills? The ability to listen, interpret, and deliver spectacular results. Lavette Photo Studios is an excellent photo studio, and I give Richel, and her studio my highest recommendations. She earned it.

I just had pictures taken of my son for his one year birthday and these are the worst photos I have…read moreever had taken by a photographer. I can honestly take better pictures with my camera phone. Some of them are so bad, I thought, "Why wouldn't she delete that instead of showing me that picture?" First of all, the photographer was a joke, she had the warmth of an ice block and did not engage with my son at all. He was just waking up from his nap and is generally a very happy baby. This is not my first child, but my fourth and he is the friendliest by far. In 20 years of photo sessions of my children, I have never dealt with a photographer who offered absolutely nothing to the session. She started out by just going with the white background, did not ask me about any other backgrounds or props. She did not even try to capture smiles or talk to him at all. I did all of the work when he did smile and she was not quick enough to even catch the good ones. She should've been embarrassed by those photos and offered to retake them at the very least. Below, I'm listing what happened during my session in comparison to the picture people website - "observe a session" http://www.picturepeople.com/portrait-scheduling/prepare-for-your-visit/observe-a-session : "our highly trained photographer gets to work" - I don't think so! She appeared to have little to no training. "inspiring backdrops" - she would've taken all the pictures with the white background if I hadn't interrupted her and asked for something else. She didn't offer anything at all. "we try to find out what makes your family unique" - she did not try to find out anything about him, she barely spoke to him. "a discerning eye to capture the truest, most genuine expressions possible" -in two of the pictures his eyes are partially closed like a drunk, she did not try to stage any scenes nor capture him well naturally; several pictures have his hands or a prop too close to his face or looking in the wrong direction. "we'll help you edit, crop images and add sepia tone, vignettes, color accents, decorative borders and many other impactful digital enhancements" - I wasn't offered any enhancements. I asked her to show me some when I saw she hadn't done it like my other sessions have in the past. AND I'm a portrait club member so I get two free so I expected her to sample something but she did not. I wound up purchasing only one picture because they were awful and her persona was lackluster to say the least. If I weren't a portrait club member, I would NEVER take pictures with this company again. Needless to say, I definitely will not return to this location. Out of 18 photos, the best one with him smiling is BLURRY! Great job if you are trying to tell me to take my money elsewhere. One would think that if you setup a photo studio in a baby store that you would hire people who enjoy taking photos of, BABIES, and do them well. I am beyond disappointed. My advice is AVOID photographer - Christina L. W11588.

We did not want individual picture but she was so pushy we just went along with it. Then she will push you for bigger prints and extra bells and whistles. The portraits are nice but she has her signature on them. I will forever have Terry's name on my home portraits. Lovely. Just save yourself the trouble do not use this company. She stated we should start at her studio and then if we had time we could go outdoors. We took at total of 2 photos outside. Next, we asked for specific family photos with the entire family and to keep the photos to full family ones. At several different times, she turned it into a photo shoot for each grandkid and each individual family. Her constant comment to any of our requests was "No, don't worry. You'll love it. Trust me. You'll love it. It'll be great." Having 4 kids under the age of 2, she refused to take candid shots as we suggested rather she tried to position all 4 and couldn't understand why they wouldn't stay in that exact Senior photo pose. MORON. They have the attention spans of a whole 5 seconds. After 45 min of pure torture, we had to force the issue that we wanted a family photo outside. Getting to the outdoor spot, she once again tried to start with just individuals and individual families. Clear your ears. So she obviously doesn't listen, doesn't take suggestions, care about her customers' explicit desires, or know how to deal with toddlers. Now to pricing and as she stated to me "sales tactics". Being out of town and doing this as a gift, I asked several times if I could get these digitalized to look at and then place an order. There is no way to do it I was told. When I suggested a watermark, she said that would take way too long to put one one every single picture. My mother and sister tried to facetime the pictures to me but unfortunately her studio doesn't have shit worth of a signal and we couldn't connect. Her cheapest package is $500. Multiple times she tried her hardest to push them into higher priced ones despite them declining over and over. I was informed by her, "that is sales. You have to push to higher prices". Once again.... obviously doesn't listen. She is also peddling her all rights cd for $925. Who took these pictures? Did Ansel Adams come back from the grave and take them? At hearing that I was going to get a total of 2 pictures for $150 and the same for my sister and the same for my parents, I called her to cancel the order. I called her within 3 hours of the order being taken and she refused to reconsider or even call her printer to see if they had started the order. Hell, I wouldn't call either if I was selling photos for $500 and all rights for $925. Handwritten at the bottom of the receipt is all sales final. Yes I know that is the all final word. She told me she didn't care what I thought of her. We're going to pay and get mediocre pictures that must be plated in gold but Terri's.... you'll pay as I'm going to let your terrible customer service, refusal to listen to the customer's wish, and completely despicable pressure sales tactics be known to the public.

My friend, Grace, used her and highly recommended her. I reached out and within a couple days we scheduled a session for my son's one year photos. Unfortunately, he was sick the day of his photos so we were able to reschedule for the week after. I really like how she has a list of places that she would recommend and pictures she has taken at each location. That's how we ended up at USF Marshall Center which wasn't on my radar at all for pictures. She sends information about parking, etc. ahead of time so I felt very prepared for the day. Her pricing is extremely reasonable. Photos can be expensive, we've done photos for every major milestone so I've seen prices that are all over the place. Kimberly has an array of pricing options that fit many different price points. Our session was 20 minutes, which is perfect for young children. I really appreciate that she has the couple take photos alone as well. When you have children, it's easy to lose yourself as part of a family. I really treasure the photos of just myself and my husband. The gallery was ready for view within a couple days and after we picked our favorites her turnaround time was extremely speedy as well. I love the end results. We will be blowing them up and framing them. These pictures bring me so much happiness. Five stars all around.

I finally got my time in the studio and my photographer was AMAZING! I don't want to lie about his name, but he was the only cool white guy there, and had just returned from Europe doing photography there. The pictures came out amazing on screen. Here is where things start to go sour again. My sales rep, Lisa, was NOT the real deal! Her service wasn't very proper to be working in a photo studio. I have had better service at Portrait Innovations (family pictures taken as recent as in November 2011) and Olan Mills. From recommending a better finish on pictures, to being patient with selecting pictures, to helping with order sheets and the order process in general (including delivery and pickup of pictures), things should be revamped, or maybe the rep retrained. Anyway, today is past the 2 weeks for my pictures to arrive, and I will be calling tomorrow to check on the status of my order. I can only hope that the service over the phone will be better and that my pictures are here sooner, rather than later.
