The initial ticket was: Milan- Bejing, Bejing-GuangZhou, GuangZhou- Melbourne. They cancelled Milan-Bejing and the way back Bejing-Milan. On top of that I've found that I need a Chinese visa because i'm flying internally from Bejing to GuangZhou. The Chinese consulate in Italy doesn't give a s#it about helping you as well as the Company. Other than that it's even money and time consuming to get the visa. Has someone else already had this experience? How did you solve it? Thank you. So far this is my feedback and experience. I'm willing to change opinion when things gets better.

I have flown with CZ from Melbourne to London and most recently, Melbourne to Los Angeles - both trips via Guangzhou, quite possibly the crappiest airport next to Badar Seri Begawan. It used to be that CZ layovers would be around 9-12 hours but they're getting shorter. This time we only had to hang around for 3 to 3.5 hours and the flights were punctual. That's still too long in Guangzhou though, especially at 530am when NOTHING IS OPEN! When eventually something does open it's a complete rip off and they're pricks to you. They charged us $25 US for two pots of tea - in China? WTF?! When I queried whether that was a correct exchange the female staff member (at the cafe at the back of terminal) said if I didn't like it I could go somewhere else... After we had paid and at a time of the morning when NOTHING else was open. The aircrafts are good. CZ have spent a lot of money upgrading them, we flew upstairs on the way back from Los Angeles. The in-flight entertainment is better than it was but a few more options would be nice. The TV show options only give you one or two episodes of a show. The meal service is fine, some meals better than others of course. They give you fruit in each meal which is nice. The alcohol service is limited to beer or wine. They try to sell you upgrades to business or first class but they're ridiculously expensive. I can't imagine there are that many sales from economy to business. It is essentially a budget airline, people who are on a budget usually need to stay on it. They're trying hard to not look like a budget airline though. Cabin crew are mostly from China (it's a Chinese airline) and are very nice. Their English speaking ability is so-so for the most part but my Chinese is atrocious. Getting anything extra out of them is near impossible. So while I'll fly with them again here's my main problem; When we left Melbourne we checked in together for our honeymoon and even mentioned to the staff member that we were on our honeymoon. I cheekily asked for an upgrade and he said no like I'd asked for a kidney. We ended up being sat way apart on both flights, we hadn't realised until we were about to board. Again on the second flight, same thing. Both times they moved us but it was stressful and annoying. We didn't get any sort of apology either. I emailed them during our trip to mention it and ask for it to please not happen on our return but no response. At LAX the girl at check in said you had to request to sit together. I've never heard of this. They're good and getting better so if you're after the cheaper option they'll definitely be among the cheapest. They take you where you want to go albeit via a sh*tty airport that rips you off.

DO NOT EVER BOOK WITH THEM AGAIN. they rip you off money without any service for that. here is the story: i booked 2 ticket business class from cairo to melbourne for my parents. we usually take emirates but this time the flightcentre agent advised to take etihad as it was cheaper on the business class. i asked to arrange the transportation from the airport to the house on the day of the arrival and leaving from the travel agent. she contacted eithad office, and did not get an aswer for that. after 3 weeks, she told me that they do not offer that service anymore. business class, a lot of money, and still need to pay more to get transportation for my parents as emirates airline does that automatically. so, i ended up with paying more than emirates offers to get the business class and transportation. so, here is the catch their business class does not have transportation services as it was before and as emirates does not. they have a very bad customer service that does not answer your requests on time. i got the answer after 3 weeks. they do not care about their customer or about their reputations. i have sent a bad feedback saying to them that i will never ever buy a ticket from them. i will tell every body about that and their reputation will go down because of their bad treatment of customers. guess what, they did not answer at all. 10 days now and all i got is email saying someone will take a look at your feedback and contact you about it. they even changed the address on my account on their etihad website to an incorrect fake one so that they can say it is fake account and feedback and delete it all hoping i will not notice that. DO NOT BUY TICKET FROM ETIHAD AIRLINE PLEASE. they are very very bad badddddddd airline company that does not respect

As a frequent long haul traveller and travel business owner I am appalled by this award given the recent flights we experienced ( December 15 / Jan 16). The food was a throwback to what you'd experience on communist state airlines in the 80's / 90's! The judging panel must have all flown first / business class and not ventured back to where the majority of people experience the airline. If you are thinking of flying economy long haul do yourself a favour and go on a QANTAS / Emirates A380 - the difference is huge and any savings you make on ETIHAD you'll live to regret once in the air!

The seats are comfortable with good leg room, compared to most other carriers! In flight entertainment was the best I have ever seen with lots of movies, music, TV shows, games, etc. Even the food was excellent (Moroccan chicken)! They even have a funny and entertaining safety video, and the air sickness bag actually made me laugh (no, I did not get sick). My next trip to that part of the world will definitely be booked with Air New Zealand even if it is more expensive. Thank you, ANZ!

A couple of days after the flight I got through to the Melbourne number (day time) and was told my emails will be responded to in 8 weeks. I repeat, 8 weeks. If only that was true. Latest efforts have left my phone number but not responded to. I would be happier if there was a rating of zero stars to give them. and they would answer the phone, either in NZ or here. Please look at twitter and yelp just for a start at their bad behaviour! This is my first time with this company and I have no axe to grind except for the way they have treated me. PLEASE do not even think about using this airline. I am sure SIA, Cathay, Qantas and Jetstar are far better. My return trip from Melbourne to Davao City was shocking. The PAL staff are the rudest you will find anywhere on any airline. It seems to be a systemic and deep routed problem with this airline. The food was horrible, the staff were disrespectful, they change airport gates at a whim without notice and leave you up in the air and they can't even dock their planes properly. Plus they are ranked EIGHTY THIRD in the world. For a National Airline that has to be a shocker. How they even managed to be ranked 83rd has left me mystified. I honestly believe they should not be ranked with in the top 100 airlines. As a national carrier they should hang their head in shame. This company is in total denial about their pathetic record of service. Very sad. When I took the time to point out the error of their ways I received a generic letter from PAL Head Office in Manila and they said that they were a fantastic airline. Amazing. Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!! PAL, in other words you do not care less. But from what I can gather the writer was way too scared to speak up as she fears for her job. What this company needs is a strong leader to speak up and drag themselves out of the gutter, so to speak. But not in my lifetime. Very sad. How low can you sink PAL, how low? I contacted QANTAS' customer service department in July 2021 asking for answers to two very…read morestraight forward queries regarding my frequent flyer points (reference numbers 0467**** and 0467****). After waiting 2 months and still not hearing back from them I sent another email asking when I could expect answers to my questions. On October 10, 2021 after still no contact from QANTAS I lodged a formal complaint. As of January 10, 2022 - almost 6 months after my initial request - the only thing I have received from QANTAS are automated email responses which include the following statement: "Thanks for contacting Qantas Customer Care. We are always keen to hear your comments as your feedback is very important to us." Well, here's my feedback: QANTAS' customer service is appalling. In fact, it's non existent. Terrible airline. User's recommendation: Don't expect much in the way of customer support from QANTAS.
