We stopped in for a visit after our cruise ship docked in nearby LA Baie. There were two options to get to the museum: take the pricey hop on hop off bus from the cruise ship or take the easily accessible public bus which drops you off only a block away from the museum.
Inside the museum, you will find a great exhibit detailing the history of Canadian military aviation, from the pioneers of flight to the current airmen watching over the Canadian skies. Being in Quebec, we were happy to see all descriptions were in BOTH English and French, allowing us to enjoy the exhibit to its fullest.
Included in the price of admission is access to the outdoor airplane exhibit, a guided tour of the interior exhibit (in French but if they have enough staff, they can give it in english as well), and a small tour of the barracks of the nearby Bagotville airbase (Thr staff does a good job making sure someone who speaks e glish is avaialbke to give the guided tour). The tour of the barracks was only alright as you are no longer allowed onto the base itself, but the airplane garden outside was fun to see.
Though it's a smaller museum, it was a fun few hours spent! As an aviation enthusiast, it can take you about 2 hours, but you could easily go through the museum in 30-40 minutes if you're not as interested in it.
All in all, I would definitely recommend a visit! read more
