Red flags!! Red flags!! Red flags!! "After a change of management"…read more My health professionals recommended I join a fitness program to overcome my PTSD, so my husband and I /working professionals/ 35+ years of age started this gym about 6 months back. I've noticed, that when others got in late for a session, they didn't join the class and worked out on their own, so the day I got in late I thought I could do the same and hurried in. I was minding my own business until I asked Cam (the trainer) a question.. and - that was it! He told me, you got in 30 min late so I won't help you which was understandable so I walked away to my corner, because I didn't want to disturb the class either. But then I saw him complaining about me to the Gym Owner "Susan" who then came up FURIOUSLY towards me and started YELLING, in the middle of the gym while the class was in progress - 'that I can't be walking in 30 min late and ask Cam (the trainer) questions ever again'.. and so on.. she went on schooling me for next 10 min and questioned me about things like - "where is my husband", why do I owe her any explanations about my personal life again? Did she want a confirmation that I was singled out so she could berate me further? I was put under so much stress and pressure by watching her monitor me so I couldn't put up the equipment right and there she started to insult me again- "You don't even know this much, you have been coming to the gym for so long you should know at least this by now... And so making further such personal attacks" No one treats their clients this way after I had already apologized to her and had requested that I can do it on my own, so please let me be. I'm still taken aback by this experience and this incident has taken a few days to process, for me to put it together, so I can share my experience with you, for you to know actually what happened with me. There is no place where one should be schooled like a child and with no dignity, especially if you are in the health industry. It's so disappointing to see an elderly woman over 60 years of age, shouldn't you be the one encouraging and not putting down a woman client? I'm confused, shouldn't you be the one acting a bit more professional being the owner? Couldn't you have taken me to the lobby to discuss this rather than create a big drama in the middle of a class and insult me? But I also learned by digging in deeper that this is a new management since Covid so the story kind of makes sense! She has created problems for us in the past about other issues as well - like before joining, she said dogs are welcome, but then later I was told by her to get special permissions from the trainer each time I want to bring my dog in the gym, and this is a SERVICE DOG for my PTSD we are talking about. Why are the clients here not treated with basic equality and basic dignity? She never tried to care or ask why I needed a dog to bring with me, but created problems so I had to avoid bringing my dog. The lady has to deal with her power trip issues and get educated about the basic mannerisms of being a gym owner. Hope, someday she'll know better and learn to maintain her cool! NO ONE is supposed to be treated this way, her actions were DEMEANING and VICIOUS towards me. I would encourage everyone who is facing this behavior to please speak up, stand up, and educate, and don't entertain this nonsense. My husband and I are people of color, and are proud to have been graduated from the Ivy League universities of Cornell and Yale respectively, and run several businesses and own properties around the world, and we have worked hard to achieve our dreams, especially in another country. I feel, the lady not acknowledging and being disrespectful towards us just shows her lack of exposure, experience, and immaturity. I'd not recommend this gym to anyone, especially to People Of Color, who are doing well for themselves, by working hard, away from their homes... I know their struggles and endeavors to thrive against all odds, do not allow discrimination, WATCH OUT for these ones!!!

The owners are sweet and concerned, and the coaches make careful recommendations for building strength and prioritizing safety. This gym is fun and challenging every day I'm there! I would 100% recommend this gym to someone new to fitness, or someone looking to reach the next level of a long career in strength training.

I have had individual sessions with their newest teacher, Sofia, and have been to two group classes now with Jacqueline. I DEEPLY appreciate that the group classes are small enough that each student receives individual attention. I have had scoliosis all my life and I rely on Pilates to help unravel and realign my spine and improve my overall posture, which takes a thoughtful instructor who incorporates stretching and addresses alignment and fine movements. It's SO difficult to find group Pilates classes that feel thoughtful as well as give a great workout, and I'm overjoyed to have encountered the Pilates Place to continue my practice while I'm away from my home studio in Gramercy. This studio also has the Konnector system (four straps!) on their reformers; I've never used it before and it adds a new element of balance and body awareness to the practice that I've never experienced! I'm already excited for my next class.
