What I have seen so far, especially in my youngest niece, is growth, growth, and more growth. She's been in the toddler program since July and her cognitive, fine motor, verbal, and social skills are quickly increasing. She loves school and looks forward to going every single day. I'm not a satisfied with my older niece learning. Unfortunately she has been out of school for up to one week at a time due to illness which certainly may be impacting her learning. Hopefully she will be attending daily and can begin building her learning momentum. I will say that her class, from what I have observed through Brightwheel, is involved in a good number of social emotional activities that support their ability to make good decisions. They allow not only part time options, but they gave us flexibility to chose what days we would come. The staff is beyond amazing. They're so kind and my son has enjoyed his time here. I love the low student-teacher ratio. They host great community events and it's such a joy to see pictures on my little guy throughout the day via their communication platform. They really put care and attention to the curriculum and age-appropriate learning. He has learned so many things including science, art, social studies, and comes home with many projects including art, tracing and worksheets. They also have music class, go to the library, have story time, soccer - I am in awe at how much they fit in every day esp since my son only does 3 half days! I am confident that he is fully prepared for Kindergarten from both an academic and social aspect. They have half day programs and full day, which is great for us since I chose half day. Also, the school feels way more personal and not just a large vast impersonal institution. Ms. Valentina is really able to put time and energy into the kids and provides us with some flexibility and understanding which is needed for parents. She works with you if you have any asks or need some adjustments to the schedule etc. They really try to do right by the kids and it shows. I am able to discuss any questions or concerns I have with her and she addresses them either in person at pick-up or pretty quickly over the app. The small class size is also helpful so the kids get the attention that they deserve. I really enjoyed my time here and will miss the school and the teachers. Highly recommend!

It is a warm, supportive environment where children are exposed to a variety of experiences which expand their little worlds and ignite their curiosity. Kids are outside in the natural world as much as possible. The Director, teachers and other staff are amazing, always with a focus on the child. The Director and teachers are highly engaged and know each child - their likes, dislikes, best environment or class placement for the child, the child's learning style, or any areas where a child may need help or therapy. There is great communication with parents, which I truly appreciate. My children have thrived here, and have gone on to continue their love of learning and curiosity about the world around them.

Nine months later, we still have not received her refund despite countless phone calls and email follow-ups. At one point they claimed a refund check had been issued and mailed, but they could not provide any documentation when asked. After that, they stopped responding entirely. We never received the check. Now it appears they are switching ownership and are using that as an excuse not to issue the refund. This level of unprofessionalism and stonewalling is infuriating -- we trusted this company and they have betrayed that trust. What a shady, irresponsible company.

The guides foster an environment of curiosity and learning, and I love hearing our daughter talk about the activities and conversations she has throughout the day. Interactions are positive and numerous. This ranges from warm greetings in the morning to getting updates via Smart Classroom to weekly email updates to 1:1 meetings with the guides. We always feel included and in-the-loop on what's going on in the school broadly and how our daughter is doing specifically. From a leadership and administrative perspective, there has been a positive shift since Ms. Mary started in the Summer of 2022. There is a strong sense of community throughout the school, including after-school and outside-of-school events and meetups. She and her leadership team are always accessible and open. If you notice all the sub-par reviews are old and are from prospective parents. I want to recognize that we experienced some of those same challenges too, however the caveat is that this was with the prior leadership team and during COVID when admissions had a modified onboarding process. As a current parent I have full trust for the guides and administrative team to do what's best for our daughter's physical, emotional, and cognitive safety and development.

Hands down, this place is amazing under the leadership of Carolyn Burke, combined with the talented & comprehensive staff and active parents. The teachers were all experienced and loving, and the classes are crafted in enriching fun ways. A number of things impress me that make Westminster Weekday Pre-School stand out: (1) the continuing Ed classes for staff were conducted by UVA education department, and included the latest activities & techniques to cultivate early literacy in an age-appropriate play-based environment; (2) they play outside year-round and even had dedicated outdoor ed teachers who did fun nature activities; (3) there are a number of enrichment staff - Mr B music, an OT, etc; (4) they offer Conscious Disciple classes for the parents & community which are AMAZING; I've since done a lot of reading on research-based parenting strategies, and they all underscore what is taught in conscious discipline. It's just so nice to learn it in a systematic group coaching environment as opposed to reading a book or watching a video on your own; (5) they do a lot to foster a sense of community among the families & with service to the broader community. These are extra touches that I haven't seen elsewhere. At least not at this level - there are preschools that charge 3x the price so maybe you get that there. But I think this place is excellent.
