Santa Clara is an extremely haunted are. I lived across the street on Bassett for several years and…read morenot only was my house haunted it was a scary experience going through the grounds of Agnews. After WW2 many scientists came to the Bay Area with full amnesty. Many were specialists in rockets and many were in mental "health" under the now declassified Project Paperclip. My girlfriend used to walk through there and here music coming from the maintenance area with no one around. At night steam would come up through the sewer grates (no other place in Santa Clara did that). Now after most of it closed, the county opened up a homeless shelter there. and of course they put it in the building with all the round rooms. The doors used to fly open, setting off the fire alarms. You would hear screams at night and if you sat outside, you could see literally see phantom beings running left and right in the abandoned buildings. And our building had swastikas embedded in the concrete steps of the sanitarium. I really want to know what the employees have seen and what the homeowners next door are experiencing

The info center had plenty to share about the history of Agnews as a state hospital for the mentally ill, destroyed in the 1906 earthquake killing 106 patients and 11 staff members, rebuilt and reopened 5 years later, and becoming the first modern psychiatric hospital in California. You can't enter the buildings (except the mansion and auditorium by reservation), but there's sufficient signage near each of the buildings, noting its history, to educate visitors. And there are beautiful trees and well maintained grassy fields with a few picnic tables and benches on site. Still, access to this park is very limited, as it's the location of the Oracle Santa Clara campus. Not the ideal park due to its inconveniences and lack of offerings, but still cool to learn a bit about its history, or just a simple peaceful spot for picnicking.

Located in heart of Silicon Valley, Moffett Field is a catchall for a variety of business and…read moregovernment facilities. Its more notable residents are NASA Ames, Moffett Federal Airfield, The Moffett Field Historical Society, and a burgeoning Google presence. The field was founded in 1931 when residents of Santa Clara Country raised just under a half a million dollars to purchase the farmland to then sell it to the U.S. Government for the princely sum of $1 dollar in order to build what was then known as NAS Sunnyvale in 1933. The US navy wanted to use the base for Airship operations. Upon the death of Rear Admiral William A. Moffett, who was a huge proponent of Airship operations, the base was changed to NAS Moffett Field on 1 September 1933. To support airship operations the massive Hanger One was built. The Hanger which at the time was one of the largest freestanding building in the world covered a whopping 8 acres. After the tragic los of the Airship USS Macon, the navy turned control over the base to the US Army. Following WWII the navy regained control of the base and during the Cold War was one of the primary West Coast bases for anti submarine aircraft such as the P-2V and the P-3 Orion. In 1939 NACA the precursor to NASA opened up research facilities on the base including the ARC Unitary Plan Wind Tunnel, and the National Full-Scale Aerodynamics Complex. Following the military drawdown during the post Cold War period the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) identified the base as unneeded and thus was decommissioned and turned over to NASA) The base now is run by NASA and they have actively rented out space to a variety of companies like Google etc. Lockheed martin Space Systems is collocated on the base as well as the 129th Air national Guard Squadron. There is also housing and other projects. In a nod to its Navy roots a Navy Commissary remains on the site and is open. Visitors are allowed on base with government issued ID if they have business there. In addition there is a museum on site that you can visit as well. Its hours are limited so check the website for more information. Also as a note traffic laws are STRICTLY enforced by the NASA police and that goes for bikes and vehicles so behave yourselves.

Not to be sappy and cheesy but I am humbled to say that I am a very proud Air Force girlfriend :) It's crazy because you may just be passing by Moffett Field casually when you are driving the freeway. However, actually being on the Field itself is just a whole new experience. You will honestly never look at it the same during your casual drive, (in an AMAZING great way) once you experience being out on the Field. So many of the Airmen/women were very nice, respectful, and very informative with the process of joining the branch. They all definitely treat each other like family whether you are a new or old member. It's funny in a great way how many of them try to convince you to join Air Force as well haha! It truly was an honor being able to be out on the field and meet many Airmen/women who are serving our country. It makes me so happy knowing my boyfriend is following his dreams and now a part of such a strong/passionate branch. Shoutout and many thanks to them all for serving our country.

Levi's Stadium - Souvenir cup!

Levi's Stadium

We recently came to Levi's for a Niners game as well to go see Bruno Mars and I was pretty…read moreimpressed by how orderly the stadium is and how even with the sold out crowds everything worked pretty efficiently. Food options are limited and of course everything is stadium prices but overall one of the better stadiums we've been to.

Of course, the entire event was unforgettable and will forever be in the book of memories. To prepare for this concert, I followed the suggested advisory of arriving early to the premises. Since parking lots started to open up to the public at 4pm, I showed up at that time and it was not congested getting a parking space whatsoever. I paid for parking in advance on Ticketmaster, which was a whopping $94. Even though my space was close and in front of the stadium, it was a VERY steep price point. This is the most I ever paid for parking at a concert to date. I just kept thinking about the positive, which was the convenience and close proximity. I patiently waited in the vehicle until 5:30pm, when it was ideal to line up in front of the stadium (opened to the public at 6pm). At the security checkpoint, protocol needed to be followed, including the clear bag policy! Thankfully, I brought my clear tote bag to include of my belongings inside. After walking inside successfully, I had to ask event staff several times to direct me to my seat because of how gigantic the stadium was. They were very friendly and kind, which was nice. Food, of course, was astronomically high and limited in options. I proceeded to go with a total of two small beef hotdogs ($10 each). The condiment station was readily available near food counters, including ketchup, mustard, relish, etc. The hot dog quality wasn't the greatest, however, it was still edible enough to consume. There were moments where it did feel super windy and cold, especially with the stadium being all in open air. Be sure to bring a sweater/coat/jacket, just in case. I made the decision to leave the concert a little early to beat all of the outgoing traffic. I was able to go in a breeze. I don't normally visit Levi's Stadium due to the overwhelmingly large attendance. However, I know that it's best to avoid congestion and delays when arriving extremely early and leaving the event early, too. I'll only come back to this venue if this is my ONLY option; not exactly my top choice for events due to the massive crowd and significant expenses incurred.

The first thing that struck me was the beautiful fountain and how quiet it is here, in the background someone was playing and accordion " the atmosphere was so serene" There are park benches under shady trees also there are a bunch of benches around the fountain, behind the rose garden there is a big field of grass that you can sit on and have a picnic. The roses are so beautiful and many smell to the delight of your senses. Such a great place to stroll around, read, I have a cup of coffee, enjoy the wonderful smell sight of the roses and or have a picnic.

Our family has a couple there as memories of our love ones. Compared to the Municipal Rose Garden- San Jose, our rose garden is tiny. Soon as i read a review on yelp left by one for the many yelpers I follow, I knew I had to see it for myself The yelp review only has the cross streets, which makes it difficult to plug it into your gps. I googled the rose garden and only got the cross streets. I then plugged Municipal Rose Garden, San Jose, CA to my google maps it pulled it right up with the actual address: 1649 Naglee Ave, San Jose, CA 95126. This made me so much more comfortable being able to find it without having to drive around. Google took us right there to the front gate. There are actually 3 main gates to get to the garden and it backs against a green belt so you can park anywhere along there and ease your way in. Parking is all street parking in a suburban neighborhood. Most of the homes have roses in their front gardens. Lots of them have roses lining their driveways. There are 2 public restrooms that were actually open on a Sunday in September. We were there Labor Day Weekend 2026. The men's and women's restrooms are not next to each other. They are by opposite gates. The bathrooms are your typical park bathrooms. Not the cleanest, made of cement and metal toilets. They have doors on the stalls that lock and they had plenty of TP. They have this odd metal gadget that dispensed soap if you push on the lever. I was happily surprised that the bathroom had soap as most park bathrooms lack soap. I was happy they had a cleanish bathroom. This park is the perfect place to take romantic pictures. If you are a professional photographer you need a permit and I belive it costs $100 for that permit. There is a sign in the park with a phone number for professional photographers to call, so there is no surprise for them. Talking pictures, there are many arches that are perfect for standing under and having a friend taking your picture. It looks so much better if you have someone take your picture as then you can see the whole arch. I should have asked someone to take our picture instead of just taking the selfie. We did get some great pictures. Some were not so good as the sun was in our eyes and we were squinting really bad. We took our time exploring the roses and really enjoyed ourselves. One thing I didn't notice was the iconic smell didn't vape though the rose garden. That is where the Sacramento Rose Garden excels in. They have many aromatic roses that wafts through the garden. The nice thing about this garden being so large is you can take pictures without having people in your shots as there is so much room to move around in. In addition to roses, there are also redwoods cluster in the garden. It almost felt like you are in a redwood forest if you stand in the middle of the grove. The Municipal Rose Garden was worth the stop. I'm so glad we made the time to stop by and allowed time to just wander and explore the many varieties of roses. One thing they didn't have were signs so you know what each breed of roses you are looking at, the Sacramento Rose Garden has signs so that is another difference. While we were there a park ranger and a volunteer were busy pruning the rose bushes.
