A few years ago we were traveling quite a bit around the state. I am a book collector and make a point of trying to stop at as many used bookstores as possible. While our trip around the state was really really relaxing, fun, and interesting, my luck at finding books was rather dismal. I wasn't really expecting too much, but even still I did manage to land a few finds during our visit to the state.
When it was time to leave the state we drove back to Rapid City to catch our plane home. We had a couple of hours to kill before our flight and I mentioned to my wife, " I wouldn't mind trying at "Again Books" because when we landed in Rapid City, your store was closed due to some holiday, or it was Monday and often bookstores are closed on Monday...something like that.....Anyway, so we go into your store and I immediately find two things I really wanted. One as I recall was this chess book I loved and loaned and never got back and had been trying for ever to replace...and there it was...so I was already happy. Further more this was the first real used book store I felt I had been in since we got to SD. It just had a great feel and I could tell immediately you knew about books.
As were leaving I decided to mention that; "I thought you had the best book store in the state"....certainly in the half we just went through. And I was getting ready to walk out the door and you said; "What are you into?" I was gonna give a bs answer, mainly cause I'm into rare occult and rather obscure metaphysical, and after what I had seen in the state, the chances of finding that was ...well out of the question. But zI thought ... what the hell, I'm hopping on a plane, probably never to be back, so I say; "metaphysical". And you say; "well why didnt you say so...see those 7 boxes there." Needless to say that put the nicest ending possible on our trip to South Dakota. Really was a strange and interesting mixed bag of books. Thanks AGAIN! read more
