I went in today after stopping in yesterday and asking how much for individual braids. I was told starting at 160 and up, OK cool. I asked the usual.. What time do you open, what time does the 1st braider come in and get started and should I make an appointment and about how long can I expect to be in the shop for my style. I was told they open at 8 and that they see people at 8:30 am and that my style should take 4 hours. Today comes and I arrive at 8:45 8:50am. I walk in and there are 5 people in the small shop. (When I went to inquire the previous day I was greeted by a locked door which left me to question if they were open or not but a lady came and unlocked the door and answered my questions at the door. So I did not see inside) 2 braiders and 3 women but 2 were actually getting their hair done and the other lady turned out to be one of the young ladies mom. The actual space is small and their setup doesn't make it any better. I took a seat and just had to wait. I tried watching TV from the weird angle from how they setup. I was told she is on her way. So at 9:15am 3 more braiders comes in. But my braider doesn't get started until 9:30 am. I made the mistake of putting alot of oil in my hair after washing it the night before and my hair was super oily that's on me and I'll accept that but I didn't deserve to be talked about and laughed at al amougngst the braiders. They were are talking in A different language but I could see the face she made and what she does behind me and every time she touched my hair she sucked her teeth and rudely like wiped her hand and they would all start laughing. Instead of offering a suggestion or saying something to me she just behaved the whole time. I prayed that she would cut it out because I was starting to get upset. One star taken away because of her rudeness and so was the other star after she called a customer back on the phone that had previously called and set something up to cancel for today and she was trying to reschedule for Saturday but you could tell she was lying because after she said something to the other person on the phone the other braiders would snicker and downright laugh out loud at what the braider was telling the customer on the phone. It was really pathetic. Smh. Right then in there it was determined that I would not be leaving a tip or any extra money outside of my payment required for my style. Not a penny more. And that's what she got. I didn't tip also, because I didn't appreciate the parting gesture she gave me... Spray Oil for my braids. Like really didn't you just talk about me and sucked your teeth the entire time at me because of a mis use of oil in my dry hair?? Trying to be funny, but I took it.
No, I won't go back but my braids are OK, I got alot of compliments and idk maybe my mis use of oil didn't cause my braids to be to tight or give me a headache after wards or maybe I saw them basically damn near ripping other girls hair out and my braider let me comb my own hair out and I was very vocal about my hairline and if they were to tight.. I just don't approve of the treatment of customers. I was there for 5 hours and basically had to rush the lady because I had somewhere to be and couldn't be late. They also stop and take breaks without telling you and they disappear off in the front "weird setup" and are eating something... A group effort to make someone feel uncomfortable is definitely a group of ill mannered people which makes for a crappy business.. so I wouldn't recommend it just based off the way that I felt after a mistake with oil in my hair. If you go to this place just be heads ups and be firm about what you want. I saw one braider even screw up a lady's bun, the lady told her no and to fix it and the braider fixed it and as soon as the lady left with just cornrolls going into a bun after the fix, the braider started to talk about her. Making hand gestures to mimic the girls bun and carrying on. *Sigh* I said I'll just tell Yelp about it. I found this place on Yelp and I'm leaving it on Yelp. I'm not going back though... read more
