Hummus and baba ghanoush was a great starter. The shawarma and gyro were my favorite meats. The potato salad and roasted garlic potatoes were the best sides in my opinion (can you tell I like potatoes?). Desserts are to die for. I don't know what it is called, but there is a dessert that looks like a giant haystack... be sure to get this one! I don't know why i haven't reviewed this place; i've been going for years. arguably one of the best mediterranean places to eat in the plano/richardson area next to ali baba and sofra kebab. My favorites from the menu: Falafel!! crispy and crunchy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside yet still flavorful. Kafta kebab: lamb + beef (i think?) sausage and served any way is so good. Hummus is not bad. The gyro plate should be split between two people. The lamb kebab plate is pricey and imo not worth it ($22...damn). All this aside, you should just go for the lunch buffet during weekdays. can't beat the variety and the price. read more

Came on a weekday and really enjoyed the selection of the buffet at $12.99 with a drink. Some of the food tasted about average, but it is expected for a buffet. Lots of rice, vegetable, and meat options. Really great flavor on the different foods such as hummus, okra and tomatoes, pita bread, falafel, and literally 20 different items. I'd love to go back and I recommend it for anyone who likes Mediterranean food, but never knows what to try. The ladies that work at the register have poor customer service attitudes and hung up on me twice when I called to place a to-go order. We were happy to hear about this great Mediterranean restaurant was serving take-out during the COVID closures. Since we had never been here, we ordered a variety of options including the chicken shawarma, salmon kabab, and falafel along with add-ons like hummus, baba ghannouj, salads, veggie pies, and desserts. Everything was very good. Our favorite appetizer was the baba ghannouj - it was creamy but still with discernible pieces of eggplant and had a velvety smoky flavor. The salmon kabab was another favorite with at least 6 nicely sized pieces (ample to share) that were well seasoned and lightly charred. They didn't triple the size of their restaurant a few years ago with bad food. It works as a great lunch place with multi-national teams. I imagine the buffet is good. However the dinner menu leaves much to be desired. First, it is more expensive than advertised. There is nothing under $25 except for appetizers, which I should have ordered. Second the place reminds me of a high school cafeteria. Loud and cold and huge, an acoustic nightmare. The opposite of cozy. Even the porch is noisy with people, high ceilings, and the awful traffic. If I had a do over, I would have ordered the salad and the baba ganoush and stopped there. The mixed Sharma is not real Sharma. It is the dry end scraps from their gyros. They are basically selling you the scrap meat for $25. There was plenty of it though and can feed from 2 - 4 people. Not only is it dry scraps, there are only 2 small cups of sauce for it, really one, because one is very spicy. That's it. The ambience is awful, but maybe the buffet if you are a big eater. Love the environment here! It isn't super romantic or anything but it's well lit and it's a nice casual place that has a very formal feel. I go there for the chicken shawarma sandwich and the hummus. They are the cheapest things on the menu but those and the nan are so delicious, don't let the price fool you. I'm excited to try some other stuff on their menu! I am not a huge fan of Middle Eastern Cuisine but these guys are exceptional. They catered my daughter's wedding and I really enjoyed the food. Since then we have went there on several occasions. The flavors at Afrah's are better than Dimassi's in my opinion with great selections and food quality overall is top notch. I love all their meats, hummus and vegetables dishes especially the gyro meat and the eggplant salad that they serve. They also make some great looking deserts and gelato that can be purchase separate from the buffet. I was hoping that their baklava was on the buffet line but it wasn't and it sucks that you have to buy it separately. It's all good, will still come back for more. When thinking of a spot for my birthday dinner, I couldn't think of a better place than Afrah. I ordered the Grape Leaves as an appetizer and Beef Kabab with sides of hummus (chickpeas based dip) and baba ghanoush (roasted eggplant dip). It was my first time eating Grape Leaves, and I thought they were light and flavorful. The rice was sweet, and the spices gave it an aromatic taste. If you like trying exotic foods, Grape Leaves are for you. Moving on to the main course. Let me start by saying that the pita was amazing!! So incredibly fluffy and freshly made. It went perfect with the hummus, baba ghanoush, and beef kabab dish I got. I couldn't stop going "Mmmmm" after every bite. The beef kabab was well seasoned, juicy and tender. I don't normally like onions but these were sweet and delicious. And the dish was enough for two people. Perfect opportunity to order more dishes and try some of everything. The staff graciously held onto my birthday cake so that my friends could surprise me at the end of our meal. And, as an end to a great night, a lot of us got free scoops of fresh, store made gelato thanks to Yelp. I got the Pistachio but also really liked the Arabic. I've been coming to Arfah for many years. It used to be a small restaurant with barely any place to park. Now it is a beautiful establishment. They have a huge seating space and an outdoor patio. The food quality is excellent. They have a beautiful iftar buffet. I always get the baklava here, specifically the cashew rolled baklava. It is my favorite. They bake it fresh on a daily! The place is kid friendly. The staff is very friendly. It is always great coming here. I love their zatar naan, it's super good. Guy fieri from food network has also visited this spot. I'm sad to say that Afrah is no longer one of my favorites. Every restaurant has its off nights, but Afrah has been off now for a few years. The quality and service has gone downhill. The food no longer seems as fresh. (With the exception of the bread-- still delicious) I even got chewy baklava one night. Another night the baklava was soggy. The cleaning lights are always turned up. Instead of leaving the lower more intimate lights on, the harsh overhead lights reveal every blemish on the tables and leave the place feeling like a cafeteria instead of the glowing ambience one hopes to feel at dinner. I don't know what's going on, why the change, but it's not for the better. The steak kebap is expensive, but I never minded the price because it was so good. Now it's dry, tough, and overpriced. I won't be giving Afrah any more chances to stop having "off" nights. read more

Tabbouli was extremely sour due to so much lemon. The Afrah burger was not cooked on charcoal like it used to be. The beef shawarma had a very strong clove taste making it almost bitter and unedible. Oh man oh man OH MAN. Stopped by this place because I was craving Mediterranean food, baba ghanoush specifically, and I was not disappointed. I ordered the standard Gyro, which was only $5.99 by the way, and an order of baba ghanoush. Both were delicious and filling. The lamb from the gyro just melted right in my mouth and went straight to my soul. The pita was so fresh that steam came out when broken apart.
