Save yourself! Go somewhere else! The owner (Christine) will promise all to get your check! We hired them to install our flooring and it was nothing but problems from the start! They didn't clean properly before laying the flooring there are little rocks and debrie under the flooring that has caused the flooring to break apart when walked on. also we were charged for the flooring and then they stole all the flooring from the job. all was caught on film. I wished my bathroom remodel experience with this home town business went better. From the very beginning there was one mistake after an other. There is a complete lack of transparency from the front desk to the customer. Wrong product ordered or and received and when I saw the grout work I was sure my 3 year old niece could have done a better job! Sorry just can't recommend Christina and her team ever. RUN QUICKLY AWAY FROM AFFORDABLE CABINETS, GRANITE, & FLOORS unless you want to be the only source of quality control, to have the job run well past the projected completion date, and you are willing to initiate all communications. AND can live with the uncertainty you could be facing big problems in the future such as mold and leaks. You will be the ONLY on-site management. Affordable previously operated under the name of Northwest Natural Stone. NW's contractor's license was suspended by WA Dept.of Labor & Industries in March, 2015 for not meeting licensing requirements. See L & I website for violations. Better Business Bureau also has numerous complaints against them under both names. Currently there are on-going investigations of Affordable by L & I. According to L & I, the work performed on our home required use of licensed plumbers and electricians. It appears that none of the workers on our project were licensed. Now we are left wondering if the plumbing and electrical work meets code. We contracted with Affordable for updating/remodel of two bathrooms. We selected the company because they said they could meet our timeline and because we were told the workers were employees. The job was two months over the promised completion date, due to many problems requiring repair and materials not being ordered timely. Affordable does NO quality control. Once the contract was signed we never saw anyone with any authority from the company. Taking pictures at the end of the work day and sending them via text to the owner, Christine Harper, was Affordable's idea of Quality Control. We were the sole quality control and the on-site managers of the project. We were aghast that workers were so willing to think that inferior work would be acceptable to us. I sent an email to Christine demanding she come to the job site to see for herself what was happening. There was no response. No communication with Affordable unless you initiate it. When the re-built shower was plumbed and a new water mixer valve (Delta) installed, we suddenly had no hot water inside the house. The worker adamantly insisted he had installed hundreds of these, so the problem had to be our hot water heater. We purchased and installed a new hot water heater and the problem still existed. Belatedly the worker remembered some small parts and instructions that came with the mixer that he didn't think were important. These were found in the trash. Once installed the problem was corrected, but we were out over $600. for a new hot water heater we did not need. When the plumbing was covered by tile we found water leaking inside the wall. It came through the grout. When the mixer cover was removed and a hand put inside the wall it came out dripping wet. Has the problem truly been fixed? What is going on inside the wall behind all that tile? Will mold be an issue in the future? The under sink plumbing was a joke. It looked like pretzels as there were so many twists and turns. When it didn't go together easily, the solution was to add another piece of pipe, gluing and using goop to hold it all together. Of course it leaked. Even fixed does it meet code? When it came time to install the shower door, the worker asked us for the door. The contract called for Affordable to provide the door and it hadn't been ordered. Another delay. When the shower door arrived, it didn't fit the opening. The opening was too large. It was suggested we put metal strips on the sides to fill in the space a totally unacceptable solution. The door space had to be rebuilt, another delay. At the end of one day's work we were called into the bathroom to look at what had been accomplished and while we watched, tiles slide down the vertical surface. Not enough spacers had been used and it should have been taped until the grout dried. Worker was willing to accept this, we weren't. When the job appeared to be over, the worker asked us for the final payment which we refused to do as with all the issues we wanted to able to use the shower to see there were additional issues. The first shower lasted less than a minute before a puddle appeared on the bathroom floor. A very angry call was made to Christine Harper, the owner demanding she appear in the morning. This was the first time she had seen the job. The problem was that the granite stoop was sloped so water ran onto floor rather than into the shower. The list of issues goes on and on.. We have filed complaints with WA Dept of L&I and Better Business Bureau. We hope to keep others from experiencing the issues we had with Affordable. We want to warn that if you do business with Affordable you need to expect to be quality control, make sure all materials are ordered and are the correct materials, the job will not be finished on time and work will be done by unlicensed workers. We used Christine and her crew do remodel our kitchen and 3 bathrooms. They were wonderful to work wioth. Very honest. We did have some delays but nothing I'd call extreme. If you've ever worked with other contractors youll know that delays are just part of the business I've recomended Christine and ACGF to several friends. read more

I regret not seeing this review before proceeding with a kitchen redo with Affordable Granite....etc. RUN! we had the same type of experience as did the review from 2/2016. Poor Communication on their part was explained by "bad reception" but the reception was always clear when they wanted more money. We requested a cupboard with a trash receptacle and the cupboard was installed WITHOUT the trash can! Despite asking for the trash can numerous times, it was never delivered. Another dealer of the cabinet manufacturer informed us that, yes, indeed the trash can IS PART OF THE CUPBOARD! and there was no price reduction. We caught a design flaw on their part that would not have allowed use of the dishwasher while standing at the sink. Yet even though we did not exceed the linear measurement of the overall install, we were charged with an additional $300+ dollars (for 3 more inches). They installed the slide out shelves with the owners insistence that they could not be lowered, resulting in a useless, dirt collecting loss of 4" of cabinet space at the bottom. We prevailed and they were reinstalled correctly resulting in recapture of useful space for pots and pans. Christine, the owner ordered the wrong cabinet for a mixer lift. This was only discovered after trying to install the mixer lift at our home and after the cabinet was covered with the granite....there is NO FIX!! and still we had to pay for....etc I am sure dealing with local home improvement stores are complicated, that is why we went with a smaller store.....but I would be willing to state you won't have the above problems if you do. read more

The owner stated she would act as the general contractor and would periodically review the job site which never happened. After I signed the contract I never saw her again even when I had sent en email regarding some problems. I had to oversee all work that was done. She also said the people doing the work are her employees and not subcontractors, also not true. An actually employee did do the plumbing work but found out later from the state they are not licensed to do plumbing. Here is a list of problems I had: Framing done by subcontractor was not square and had to be fixed. Cabinets were installed backwards so to use the sink you would be pressed against the wall. The subcontractor admitted he made the error and just installed them without looking at them. Then we tried to tell me to fix it he would have to move the plumbing in the wall. I pointed out all he had to do was move it over with his hand as there was room in the hole of the drywall. I also told him before he installed them incorrectly to pull up some of the original tiles on the floor to fill in other areas on the floor. He forgot to do this so had to pull the cabinets out anyways. I overheard a cell conversation between the sub and the owner regarding this and she told the sub I could not have him make these changes and it was going to cost money. The sub admitted to her he screwed up and was not charging her for the time to fix it, she sent me an email stating they would normally charge me but would waive it this time even though he installed it incorrectly according to her design. The subcontractor never put in a full day of work so the job dragged out several weeks after the estimate end date. When he would show up he would never have the stuff he needed so would be gone for hours to get the stuff. He installed defective tile and I had to tell him to replace it. He wanted to create his own bullnose out of field tile, the tile was ceramic with a printed stone finish, I had to point out this would not work because it wouldn't have the stone finish. When he was done with the job I noticed there was no tile from the shower step to the shower pan and grouting was not done around the shower shelves, he came back to fix this. I had to point out tile missing in the corners which he was just going to fill in with grout but I told him to put in tile. He wanted to put door pulls on the fake center drawer under the sink. I told him no but he said it would look weird without it I told him I have never seen a drawer pull there in any other house and he wasn't putting it on mine. Several of my tiles are a little crooked and have jagged edges which drive me crazy and wish I would have insisted they be corrected. I feel like the owner has lied to me on several issues and the work was mediocre. read more
