They know the river like the back of their hands and take you to a lot of little-known spots. It's worth pointing out that independent travelers going down the river would often stop by and ask our guides how to get to this or that natural or historic spot. The gear was bulletproof, the guides were courteous and helpful. The route was perfect. This is a professional organization that knows what they are doing. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

MRO provided our group with rafts, camping & kitchen gear, food and shuttle services for an un-guided river trip through the Upper Missouri River Breaks during the summer of 2013. Craig was very helpful identifying an appropriate trip for our family. The rafts MRO provided were high-quality, and were in very good shape. All of the the other gear provided was also in very good shape, and Craig went out of his way to make sure we had redundant gear and repair kits where appropriate. Mary did a great job of the meal planning for the group and packing the food for our trip. Everyone we worked with at MRO was very professional, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the history of the area. We ran across a MRO group while on the river, and they even went out of their way to check in on us and make sure everything was going well. This was our first wilderness trip with our young family, and we appreciated how everyone we worked with at MRO went out their way to make sure our kids were taken care of and enjoying themselves. We had a great experience, and would definitely use MRO for future trips in Central Montana, and would recommend them to others.

This whole place had a really weird vibe. The guy that tattooed me (calls himself Uncle Slimey for…read morea reason) was talking about some crazy transcendent shit the whole time. He took a break halfway through to crack open a beer and sharpen his tattoo needles on the concrete floor for the next client. I guess at least he finished it off with sharpening the very tip with a matchbook. This shop also has a bat infestation. Slimey says he can't remove them because they're endangered, but I would highly recommend getting your rabies shot before setting foot in this establishment. Also, I wanted a Lisa Frank inspired unicorn as a backpiece. We booked an entire day and Slimey showed me what he drew up and I loved it... but after eight hours laying on the table, I ended up with some demonic flames spitting pegacorn bullshit. NOT WHAT HE HAD SHOWED ME HE HAD DRAWN UP!!!! Totally different tattoo. Best thing I can say about the shop is that I got the 12% discount for letting him use his dirty sock instead of paper towels to wipe down my tattoo.

The lodge itself is spacious & beautiful, the chefs - Jeff & Courtney - are 5-star. Every meal we had was of the highest quality and prepared perfectly.
