I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction and concern regarding the care I received…read moreduring my recent labor, delivery, and postpartum stay at your facility. While I selected your hospital based on its reputation and high rankings, my experience fell significantly below acceptable standards and was, at times, distressing and concerning for both my safety and well-being. From the beginning of my induction, there were notable inconsistencies in care. While my initial nurse was attentive and supportive, the quality of care quickly declined during subsequent shifts. After progressing to 5 cm dilation, I remained there for several hours without appropriate reassessment. I was informed that I would be checked again around 8:30 PM; however, this did not occur, and I went approximately 12 hours without a cervical check, despite repeatedly expressing concerns that my labor had progressed. During this time, my epidural experience was particularly troubling. A student anesthesiologist attempted the procedure multiple times without clearly identifying himself as a student, which resulted in delays and unnecessary discomfort. After initial placement, the epidural proved ineffective on one side, causing severe pain. Rather than promptly addressing the issue, I was given temporary medication that wore off quickly, leaving me in prolonged and significant pain. My concerns were not adequately addressed, and I felt dismissed despite visibly being in distress. Throughout the night, I repeatedly requested assistance and reassessment due to increasing pain and pressure, yet I was told there was nothing more that could be done. I felt neglected and unsupported during a critical time in my labor. It was only after a shift change the following morning that my condition was properly reassessed, at which point I was found to be fully dilated and ready to deliver. This raises serious concerns about the lack of timely monitoring and responsiveness during my care. While I am grateful that my delivery itself went smoothly once properly attended to, the postpartum experience introduced additional concerns. The room I was placed in was visibly unclean, with unsanitary conditions including blood on the toilet seat, unstocked supplies, overflowing biohazard waste, and dirty equipment. These conditions posed a clear infection risk and were unacceptable for any patient, especially a new mother and newborn. Additionally, communication and education were severely lacking. No one provided guidance on newborn care or breastfeeding, and I had to repeatedly request basic postpartum supplies. I also encountered issues with medication administration, where I was initially told that necessary medications were not ordered, only to later find that they had been available. This lack of attention to detail and follow-through was alarming. I was also disappointed by the lack of compassion and professionalism demonstrated by several staff members. I often felt like a burden rather than a patient in need of care. At one point, my partner was required to leave the unit unnecessarily to retrieve basic supplies, rather than staff assisting us. The overall bedside manner throughout much of my stay was lacking, and I did not feel supported during one of the most vulnerable times in my life. While I acknowledge that not every staff member contributed to this experience negatively, the overall standard of care I received was inconsistent and, at times, unacceptable. I expected a much higher level of attentiveness, communication, and professionalism from a hospital of your standing.

Clerical and logistics took a huge downward spiral due to covid-19 overpopulating hospitals worldwide. They are doing their best, just like every other high ranked level 2 epilepsy hospital after the surge from coronavirus and all it's variants. I've had some awesome neurosurgical procedures there that are truly life changing in a great way. Shunt placement went great and relieved the extra pressure on my brain from a scuba diving accident. Don't ever go scuba diving if you already have a head injury. Scuba diving causes changes in the brain pressure and can cause lots of neurological problems that only a hospital like Tampa general can handle. Tampa general is always on my mind literally, because I still have the gravity fed shunt attached to my skull and draining down extra fluid to somewhere else the body can process better than getting stuck in between the brain and the skull.

Her internal bleeding went undiagnosed for about eight hours despite glaring signs. Once imaging was finally ordered and active internal bleeding was confirmed, surgery was delayed for roughly seven more hours. In the meantime, the doctor ordered mass blood transfusion in an improper way that worsened her condition instead of stabilizing her, while failing to move the central line that was improperly placed and that the radiologist recommended be repositioned. HCA Healthcare has faced no consequences, and there is no way for people researching physicians through the Florida Department of Health (DOH), the medical licensing board, to see what happened to my daughter. Because she was 25, unmarried, and had no children, Florida's 'Free Kill' law strategically blocked me from pursuing legal recourse to ensure the hospital and its physicians are held accountable so the harm does not continue. High-risk patient (aortic stenosis) pressured into trainee surgery -- canceled on surgery day…read more My hernia surgery at Tampa General Hospital was scheduled for February 19, 2026. I have aortic stenosis and was told I'm high risk, so clear communication and informed consent were critical. My pre-admission appointment was February 4, 2026 at 11:30 AM. During pre-admission, I was presented with a disclosure form allowing a student/fellow/resident to perform the surgery. I declined to sign and clearly told staff I did not consent to a fellow/resident performing my procedure. On the day of surgery, while I was being prepared, I was told by Dr. Adham Saad that because TGH is a training hospital, a fellow would be doing the surgery. Dr. Saad said he would be scrubbed in the room "next to the fellow," but he would not be the one performing the operation--only supervising. For a high-risk cardiac patient, that is not calming or reassuring. It felt like a coercive ultimatum: accept a trainee as the primary surgeon or lose your surgery. When I refused again, I was told the surgery would be canceled and that I'd need to find a private doctor/hospital if I wanted only the attending surgeon to perform the operation. If Dr. Saad is already going to be scrubbed in and present, it is unacceptable to pressure a patient--especially a high-risk patient--into a surgery they did not consent to, then cancel at the last minute when they stand their ground. Regardless of being a teaching hospital, patients still have the right to informed consent. This should have been clearly addressed long before surgery day, not when the patient is already prepped and vulnerable. This process caused unnecessary delay, stress, and disruption to my care.

Everything went smoothly from check in, pre op, surgery and post op. I spent the night and received excellent care from a very well staffed and professional nursing team. I provided a very positive review on their web site. My second visit was scheduled late morning at 10:30 arrival. I will never accept a late morning surgery appointment again. First every parking spot was full. A five level garage provided not one open space. Eventually I found a car leaving in front of the women's care entrance. This was at the other end of the hospital from where I was told to enter near the south garage. I had no idea how to get back to the surgery check in. I entered the women's entrance and told the security guard I needed to get back to the south garage entrance. He radioed a man in a golf cart to meet me at the entrance and take me back to the surgery area. I told him the hospital website said there was valet parking near the children's emergency area. He said that was no longer being offered. My surgery lasted longer than the doctor told us and by the time I arrived in recovery and then post op I was the only patient in post op area. The nurses were all leaving and saying good night to other nurses. My nurse was the only one there. The motion lighting in the other tented rooms were turning off. As I was getting dressed to leave the nurse told my wife to bring the car to a different door to pick me up for the drive home. As I had dropped her off at the surgery entrance at 10:30, seven and a half hours earlier, she had no idea where our car was except my description of it parked across from the women's entrance. The nurse was so pleasant and helpful she offered my wife a wheelchair and took her to the security desk to call for the golf cart courtesy driver. Unfortunately, both the nurse and my wife learned that service goes home at 4:00. It's now 6:30. So now the only nurse in post op pushed my wife in a wheelchair the entire length of the hospital to the women's section to get our car. I sat by myself in a chair with now one light on waiting for the nurse to return. There are 6 handicapped parking spaces outside the surgery entrance. And perhaps 10 non handicapped spaces. Arriving late morning you will not find a parking spot. There are no reserved for surgery parking spots. As patients are released the assigned nurses go home and the area pretty much shuts down for the night. Very poor arrangement. The staff readily acknowledges that parking is horrible but apparently that's where it ends. The Doctors have a reserved parking area. The patients including surgeries are left to fend for yourself self. My future hospital needs will be at Tampa General or St Joe South.

When I came to the front desk to check in, the receptionist could not find me in their system. Apparently, she became frustrated and had an attitude that she could not locate me and told me several times that I was not in the system before telling me to have a seat. After she received help on what to do, I was called for my appointment. That's when she yelled at the nurse assistant that I am not in system and needed to fill out paperwork. By that time, I said something to her about her attitude and unprofessional behavior. Her behavior & attitude impacted my health. When I left, she had told the other receptionists at the front desk who retaliated on her behalf doing little subtle things that I picked up on to retaliation. This is unacceptable. I understand that working the front desk & dealing with patients can be hard but if you do not have the patience, professionalism & maturity to do the job then you need to find another. The front desk is the first point of contact before seeing the physician and last point before leaving the office. No one who is not feeling well wants to encounter attitude & retaliation for speaking out about it. Bay care needs to request & evaluate patient reviews as well as put technology in place to monitor this area for improvement & better customer service experience.

I did NOTHING wrong...I am happy to share what happened to me in reviews. I went to their clinic in Sun City Center...and that turned out to be a massive nightmare. I'm 65 right now and have never...NEVER met people as inept and rude as the staff that runs this place. It is almost funny it is so bad...but when you are on the receiving end of their nastiness...it is really ugly. Here is just ONE event I endured with these people. 1) My appointment with Dr. Lamielle was for 1 PM 2) I arrived at 12:45, checked-in, told to take a seat (usual stuff) 3) Soon, it is after 2PM so I walk up to the next open window to ask how much longer. 4) The girl says to me "Oh! You are really late!!" 5) I said no, I had been waiting since 12:45. 6) This office manager walks up and points out where I had indeed been checked in. 7) The girl said I missed my appointment but could come back in 6 weeks. (No, I am not kidding...they both told me that.) I was so angry, I just walked away but not before I asked how on earth could I have missed my appointment when I was there, on time and waiting. She told me the doctor did not have time to see me now, but I could come back in 6 weeks. UNBELIEVABLE!!!" To add to this lunacy, the doctor actually called me at home, a few days later, at 9PM at night (yep, that late at night) and told me he actually wasn't even in the clinic that day. So...ummmmm...wait a minute here! What the hell is going on? You lied? They lied? Why was I asked to even be there!?!?!? Hopefully, this clinic will shut down or, learn how to deal with patients in an appropriate manner instead of doing what they did to me. They are unprofessional, rude, and clearly incompetent. Sadly, this is the "Shared Purpose Statement" for Tampa General Hospital We heal. We teach. We innovate. Care for everyone. Every day. ...that certainly was NOT my experience with TGMG.
