Dr Langert was my brother's surgeon, and he wasn't very caring. I was very disappointed with his staff as well. The front desk staff was nice, but some of the nurses were just MEAN, non-caring, and had a bad attitude! I hope they treat patients better than this! In the future. read more

I recently had surgery at this location and overall was impressed with the entire.process. The building is bright and clean. It is well maintained. The staff is great. very friendly and good senses of humor. That goes a long way when you aren't feeling good and being in a good mood is positive for the healing. Kudos to whoever handles the staffing. One of the lab technicians felt bad about a mistake in drawing blood causing another needle poke. She was so sweet and felt so bad she didn't sleep the night after it happened. That shows the level of care and compassion they have. The doctors are great. very professional. The rooms are spacious as are the bathrooms. I have been in hospital room bathrooms previously that give just enough room that you have to stand on the toilet to shower. The size is especially convenient for anyone who uses different medical equipment they use to get around. The only thing that keeps me from giving five starts is there is a bit of confusion that resulted in problems with my test, not having all tests done initially, and coming down to the last minute whether surgery was going to proceed forward. This is a good facility for your medical ne3ds. They are expanding and adding more services. read more

They have a nice facility but the billing department has no clue what they are doing and neither do the doctors. I was billed separately for the facility (ER bill) and then a provider bill that came out of no where as a surprise because they decided to file separate. $2,000 provider bill for maybe an hour of service plus the facility bill of $7000 is absolutely ridiculous. They are a bunch of thief's. read more

Spent a year trying to resolve a billing issue over an incorrectly coded procedure. They ended up being paid by both us and the insurance company but wouldn't refund our payment. Gave up out of frustration. Also, our surgeon's coordinator gave us all the relevant codes so we could get an estimate of the surgery center expenses for an outpatient procedure. AdventHealth's estimate was of by about 40%. Received adequate care but this whole billing guessing game is ridiculous. read more

We've used their ER a few times and I love that's it's clean and quick in and out. However, this last time they used a doctor/lab that was not covered by my insurance, which really annoys me. But, overall I haven't had issues with the staff's demeanor or anything like that. I've also used their imaging center many times and they've been really nice and fast. read more

I came here because I was getting Gastric Bypass surgery through The Bariatric Center of Kansas and surgeon, Dr. Stanley Hoehn, the founded of The Bariatric Center of Kansas. As with The Bariatric Center of Kansas, I cannot express how happy I am with Shawnee Mission Health. After the crazy number of pre-stuff you have to go through, you finally get to the surgery. You're only in there for about 24 hours though, and everyone at the surgery center is amazing. The customer server here is great. They took every chance they could to make me smile and made sure that I had anything I needed. They were constantly cognizant of my pain threshold too, which was very much appreciated because I tend to be a baby when it comes to pain. It was painful, uncomfortable, and embarrassing. But, I really felt like they took as good of care as me as possible. The room was large, super comfortable, and I got to watch the sun rise. What more could you want? And, as for price, I paid about $1,000 for the actual surgery with insurance, and it was worth every penny. All in all, I wholeheartedly recommend Shawnee Mission Health. read more

The staff did not care or listen to our symptoms, since we did not have covid it seemed like they just wanted to get us out asap. They did not address any of our issues and we had to do go back to a different doctor the very next day to actual get treated. Besides not listening, the attitude and blatant annoyance of our presence that was shown to my family was ridiculous. We will be going to patient relations and not going back to this ER again. read more

I went to the ER at this location and will never go back. I have always told people that if they need to go to a hospital, go to Shawnee Mission. Myself, my brother and even his kids were born at the main hospital. My mother worked as a nurse there for years and we still know people who work there. The nurse and doctor involved in my case were rude and condescending the entire time. I explained that I didn't have insurance at the time and did not want certain tests done. After that they pretty much wrote me off and sent me home without any lab results. When I finally got the bill. there was a pharmacy services charge. I never received any drugs while in the ER. I called for an itemized bill and the woman on the phone told me she couldn't see that charge but would send me the itemized list anyway. Of course when I received the itemized bill, the charge was still there. I called the hospital again and was put on hold for 10 minutes only to be told to write a letter so they could investigate. they dont know what the he!! they're doing! they will run blood or urine tests etc. and tell you everything looks alright....if you take those results to a different hospital, u will most likely be told that those results indeed do not look alright. im genuinely surprised these people actually have medical licenses. read more

A newer hospital. It does have ER services but it looks way too small compared to all the massive hospitals in the KC area. However, small is what hospitals should be because that is this one's charm. My specialist was originally in the A building (west side) and has since been moved to the recently (almost) finished B side (east side). The ER is stationed in the middle of them. I have also had surgery here and as stated in an earlier review, the process was simple and smooth and easy. All staff was pleasant and friendly and comforting. From surgery to specialist to MRI offices, I have not come across a negative. I recommend this outpatient pavilion for your medical needs. read more

Although the doctor was wonderful, the after care of the 2nd and 6th floors was nothing short of apathy. They have a big speech about buzzing them or pulling the cord and then they'd be right in. I was in excruciating pain, shaking, crying etc. I buzzed for a nurse every 20 minutes for about an hour and a half. I even pulled boys cords availed to me. finally opened my door and screamed for someone to help. By now, it was immeasurable. Some nurses came in and talked about how it was a simple surgery and I was being too dramatic. This occurred cyclically until I was released 5 days later. The 6th floor is filthy and was especially my room. No cleaning person came the whole time. The worst I've ever been treated!!! read more

I went to the ER here twice this past month - once with my oldest daughter (6 years old) and a couple of weeks later with my youngest daughter (4 years old). The first time going to this ER the nurses and x-ray tech were not very friendly and their bedside manner was awful. When the x-ray tech came into the room he thought she was getting a chest x-ray when she was getting an arm x-ray. My youngest daughter became very ill a couple of weeks after my first visit to this ER and I decided to give them another chance since this hospital is only 5 minutes from my house and it was 4:00 am. The greeting from the nurses were awful. I felt like I was unwelcome the second I came through the door. They were very rude and made my daughter uncomfortable. I would highly recommend to make the drive to another ER for your children if possible. I will never take my children back here again. read more

Extremely grateful for the amazing, compassionate staff at Advent Lenexa. I needed to have my husband bring me on the weekend to get my labs and xrays since I use a wheelchair and need his help. The lab tech, Key, was diligent and did an excellent job making sure I was not in pain and took the time needed to find the best place to draw my blood since I have always been a "hard stick". He never complained or looked like or acted as if he was annoyed to have a difficult patient. It was obvious he CARES about what he does and the patients he serves. He was extremely pleasant and cares about his work. THANK YOU! Next, I needed a complete set of spinal X-rays and some others that would take an hour and I cannot stand for more than a few minutes and have involuntary tremors. A very pregnant Darshell took the time to explain the difficulty I would have with the xrays that called for me standing. She was so compassionate with me when I know it was a LOT of work for her and a huge job. She never became rude and went my speed. She really thought about the best ways to get the xrays when standing would be so hard. She came up with ways to make it work and spent an hour doing everything I needed without any exasperation or rudeness. The security guard was there in case I had trouble getting on the table. I just cannot thank the staff enough! Anybody can be told they're terrible but we don't take time to say when someone is great... Darshell, you absolutely amazed me and I am thankful you were there to administer compassion with expertise. THANK YOU! I have a Lap Band. There, I said it. I've also had to have a revision due to no fault of my own; well scar tissue to be exact. The Shawnee Mission Prairie Star Surgery Center is where the KC Bariatric Center does their surgeries. They are located one floor up from this center. So, as it would be, I was there earlier this week getting my revision. This was my first time here as they used to do all of their surgeries (that I am aware of) at the main Shawnee Mission Medical Center. The surgery center is about 4 years old but doesn't look a day over brand new. It is very well kept! VERY clean (as any surgery center should be), well laid out, well maintained and the staff couldn't have been any better; friendly and professional. I had my hesitations since it's small but I was very reassured the more I talked with my doctor and seeing the areas for myself. Surgery doesn't scare me a bit so I don't get put under until I have moved myself from one bed to the OR table and settled in. The OR was immaculate, everything that needed to be there was there if anything were to happen to me or you. Again, the staff was very knowledgeable and answered any questions I had. There is also a fully functional ER downstairs if that helps calm your nerves. :) So, if you are considering any sort of weight loss surgery at the KC Bariatric Center, this is where you will come. I have had problems off and on with my sleeve, seems everytime I call, the the PA calls back only, he is never at the office and the nurse does not relay my messages, so I have to tell him over again the different times I call. I feel like a number that has gone in and out, Have seen my surgern one time, that was for about 5 mins before my surgery was scheduled, I'm sure they are a good bunch, but on a personal level I don't think I would research better if I had to do it over again read more
