If you are building a pool in LHC, please read all reviews and verify. Bobby can do quality work; however, he has built 2 pools for me, and they were poorly managed by Bobby. Both pools were short of the drawings he provided. The first pool was supposed to be 16'X32', and it was 15'X30'. However, Bobby did the right thing and provided $2000 credit. The first pool was a small vacation house; therefore, it was no big deal and Bobby earned my trust. Approximately 3 years later my wife and I built our retirement home in LHC. A 3000 Sq.ft. house, with two RV garages, two double garages, 2 casita's, 3 bed, 2 bath, outdoor kitchen on a half-acre with a view - finally, all the hard work is paying off! I called Bobby again and told him, he better not be short, but let's build another pool. The lines Bobby drew in the backyard had no measurements and were drawn as a concept, not a contract. The funny thing is we didn't even notice the pool was short of "Bobby's" 40'X20'X20' drawing that was "updated" after the contract, which lists a 36'X19' pool. The project expanded as many do during construction, therefore an updated drawing and a change order for over 30K should be good enough. Unfortunately, it may not be in court, therefore get an updated contract and everything signed - do not trust anyone. If you pay cash, take a picture and document all payments. Bobby is accurate, there were many issues starting with the pool color. We said to do the same blue color as our first pool. Bobby did a Speckle Blue, who knew that wasn't the same color and during our meeting to confirm colors Bobby was on vacation. The concrete wasn't even close to what Bobby showed us, concrete splashed on the doors and windows of our brand-new house, trash out front, cracks in the concrete etc. We had over 10 issues, but those issues met the ROC's minimum construction standards, and I signed a contract with the wrong pool color, therefore Bobby is correct and we owe him the balance of $5500 for his poor workmanship. Bobby left out a few critical details - he took us to court to collect the $5500, then we measured the pool and it is 38'6"X20'X18'2" and was supposed to be 40'X20'X20' - here we go again! This project was 3 times the cost of our first project and is our retirement home. The first project Bobby gave us a $2000 credit and we owed him $5500, therefore I said let's call it good, but Bobby did not want to negotiate and took me to LHC Justice Court and he won! Yep, sign a contract with the wrong color and the contractor will win. Poor workmanship may meet the ROC's minimum workmanship requirements. With pool measurements in hand, I tried to negotiate with Bobby, but he said he was going to win. The salt generator broke and I told Bobby I would pay him $2000, honor the warranty and let it go. Bobby said there would be no warranty on the pool because I didn't pay the outstanding balance of $5500. The pool was short, why would I pay the $5500 when you gave me $2000 credit for the last pool. Fight to be right, therefore we move forward. Next stop ROC hearing - we were awarded $26,500, Bobby contested. Off to ALJ Hearing - we won and are still awarded $26,500. Then Bobby and his attorney took us to Superior Court. My wife and I have never been sued in our 25 years in business and live by a simple policy - "the customer is always right". After handling all the litigation on our own without an attorney, vs Bobby and his attorney, we hired representation that cost us $85,000 - ouch! Yea, Bobby's the victim! I don't think so! During our day in court, Bobby and his attorney presented the same arguments until Bobby made one change and said, Advantage Pools overbuilt the pool based on the original contract, which is accurate, but does not represent the truth. The court still ruled in my favor, however reduced the ROC award because my attorney did a poor job and did not question Bobby thoroughly. Bobby denied our verbal and email agreement that clearly lists a 40'X20'X20' pool presented by and drawn by Bobby. Why would I have put my family through eight years of litigation if Bobby over built the pool. Anyway, you would think it's over, nope, Bobby then proceeded to the Superior Appeals court where 3 judges recently reviewed the case and said - we win! It's finally over! Nope, Bobby no longer has an attorney representing him and is attempting to take us to the Arizona Supreme Court over his updated pool drawing and our original contract that are both outside of the ROC plus or minus 3" allowable tolerance. If Bobby had built the pool to the dimensions he listed on our updated drawing of 40'X20'X20' he would have been paid in full upon completion. It is Bobby's complete lack of project management skills and unwillingness to take responsibility for his poor workmanship that has resulted in years of litigation, countless hours of stress, aggravation, and over $85,000 spent to defend ourselves - amazing read more

After all the other lower courts, Bobby took us to the AZ District Court of Appeals (he is very good at trying to drive up attorney costs and waste everyone's time and money going from one court to another -we ditched our attorney after Superior Court because we honestly couldn't compete with what appears to be his family attorney on retainer and we decided to defend ourselves pro-per). The AZ District Court of Appeals (one court lower than the AZ State Supreme Court mind you) ruled that the lower Superior Court case that originally ruled in our favor, stands as ruled!! Therefor, the ROC will indeed pay us the recovery fund awarded at the Superior Court (the recovery fund gets held up when there are active court cases regarding your award as Bobby has done to us for the past 7 years) and that means that until Advantage Pools reimburses their contractor fund once paid out, Advantage will not be allowed to do ANY work under his license....so...if you have a current pool with Advantage or plan to...I would suggest you call the ROC to find out if they are allowed to legally perform work on your property! 7 years, 5 courts later $85K in attorney fees and our pool is still short of the agreed upon dimensions and outside the ROC tolerance....MEASURE YOUR POOL if you had one built by Bobby and, find someone else if you are looking to build a new pool! I had a great experience dealing with Advantage for a rental property of mine. The project length was maybe a month over what was anticipated, but they were on track working hard to meet a goal for my renting it. Oddly, I had another competitor in the city build the pool on my own home and had a myriad of problems. Bobby, owner of Advantage, even talked me through getting my heater working on the pool built by his competitor... and they never did anything for four years. Kudos to Advantage for their good work. We are very happy with the finished product. Owner Bobby came out with Kyle to do the final set up on the pool plans. Bobby had the vision to come up with a yard changing idea. The results are mind blowing. Our huge formerly empty yard is now our personal paradise. We absolutely wouldn't change a thing. Unfortunately 1 star is the lowest Yelp will allow. Advantage was hired to build an above ground spa and do a color plaster in pool/spa along with travertine decking and a fire pit. First issue, incorrect tiles were installed on spa. When brought to his attention, owner was trying to convince me that I had chosen them even with a photo of the correct selection Taken in his office. Foot prints were in the pool plaster, acid wash was performed twice on a brand new pool within the first couple months which took years of life off my plaster. Also when I brought up that my auto fill was running 24/7 and believed my pool was leaking, I was ignored and Bobby (owner) blamed it on landscaping busting a pipe. Mohave leak test did find a leak after a 40,000 gallon water bill came in. Months of arguing, getting nasty drunk emails late night from Bobby, and getting the Registrar of Contractors involved...advantage was required to come complete the fire pit and travertine repairs. I was told by Bobby to wait it out and let the chemicals handle all the spots in my pool/spa. It's been 7 months and my pool still looks like a disaster. Buyer beware and get EVERYTHING in writing! She was great too when it came time to pick out our travertine, stone, and colors for our pool. That's not easy when you're picking from small samples on a wall. When it was done the combination of all aspects exceeded our expectations. Logan was great and very conscientious in doing his work, and Kelli is the friendly voice in the office when we needed information. We asked them for an estimate to repair our cracked pool coping. Instead, they recommend entire pool be replaced due to structural issues. Then I found out they have no qualifications, credentials or licenses in structural engineering to make such an absurd statement. I'm a licensed architect with 3 custom homes and pools built in LHC. Peggy did a fantastic job designing our pool and helping us pick out materials that matched. Kelly is such a sweet person and was very helpful. She didn't even seem annoyed when we changed our minds about 3-4 times on the decking. Bobby and Logan were always courteous and patient, especially when it came to answering my husband's many questions. We never had a problem with any workers and they were all accommodating. If my one year old was napping they had no problem turning down music or keeping the noise down if possible. That was really appreciated. We can be picky people and my husband is somewhat of a perfectionist. If we didn't really like something, as long as it was a reasonable request, Logan didn't seem to mind fixing it. I highly recommend Advantage Pools in Lake Havasu City AZ. We are not full time here so wanted someone we can trust to do a great job. We made several calls for estimates with only a few responding. Of the respondents Advantage was the most accommodating, and designed a CUSTOM pool / spa within our budget, and included many upgrades. They use top notch equipment too including Paramount. You really need to be careful. We had one of the other companies that were let's just say less than honest about entertain things. There were several things that needed to be taken care of at the home during the installation. An example is after the concrete is sprayed someone needs to be there to water it each day for a 5 days to a week. We could not be there right after, so they had someone go to the home each day and took care of this for us. Their office manager Kelly is outstanding. Always cheerful, accommodating, and extremely efficient. Another 5 star reason for this pool company is the owner Bobby. As with any construction job there are challenges. He is very knowledgeable about local code requirements, and we had no issues passing any inspections. The few issues we did have where taken care of personally by Bobby quickly and to our satisfaction. (and I can be a bit picky). They also know companies that can help and do a good job in other areas. We need our fence height increased So they recommended Amor Fencing. When we first started looking for a pool company we called 4 companies to come out and give us bids to put in our pool , two never returned our call and two made appointments to come look at our backyard - only 1 actually showed up for the promised appointment. Robert, or Bobby, as his friends call him, came out dressed professionally, with numerous pictures to show us what he could create. He was fair, relaxed, and knew what he was doing (this is our 5th pool), he had a price immediately and the bid included everything we asked for without trying to change our minds or up-charge us. We are very displeased with our Advantage Pools experience from Noverber, 2017 to February, 2018 for a pool crack repair and resurfacing. Will not recommend them or be a return customer. From the missed timeline, many extras, missed final completion date (seven weeks over), poor site upkeep, poor construction communication to the owner's overall unprofessionalism-All buyers beware. Their estimate was much higher than other estimates and went with them because of the promises their salesperson made-That they were experienced, kept their time-lines & that we could depend on their estimate--These promises were not kept and the worst fact was the final price was almost twice the original estimate. At the end, which was February 23, 2018, we asked that $100 be taken off the final bill for cleaning and to be reimbursed for palms that died because of irrigation lines being turned off by Advantage. Advantage's owner immediately disagreed with the condition of the yard before and after and filed a construction lein against us for the final payment, which was not overdue. We called 5 different pool companies to give us estimates for a simple no frills15x30 pool. One never called back, one was so unprofessional that we didn't even consider them, one was professional but we felt somewhat limited and one had a sales agent talk with us that was completely unprofessional and we just didn't feel comfortable. Bobbie from Advantage pool came out and gave us a fair and complete estimate of what we thought we wanted. He never told us what to do except when we asked his opinion on one item. We changed our mind 3 or 4 times and he never acted irritated. His crew was very professional and conscience of making sure they cleaned up after their work each day. He quoted us a 5 week time frame for finishing and we were swimming in the pool 3 days before the deadline. I believe that as the season gets warmer, thee time frame might get somewhat longer but he seems to be on top of getting the job done. I would hire him again in a heartbeat. read more
