Worst customer service in history. We filed with Maria in 2019 and now 2021. I called the week before filing daily until someone finally emailed me back after weeks of no response (happy to post screenshots). I was only replied to by John Morrison and so I booked a meeting with him. He didn't even have my return done and sent to me so we were basically discussing what the status of the return was considering that I had not seen it. He then said he totally forgot and sent it to me while I was on the phone. The total phone call could not have been more than 5 minutes. I then requested that we schedule a call with Maria to go over the return considering I had not reviewed the return to come up with questions. John agreed to this via phone. The next day when I followed up via email to meet with Maria I was met with a rude reply saying I had to pay $300/hr for Maria's time since John spent 5 minutes on the phone with me already and everyone is allowed a one time phone call for filing. I thought this was ridiculous because John and I did not even discuss the return. John and I ended up discussing my return since Maria refused without additional payment. During the course of our call I realized some parts of the return were DRASTICALLY incorrect and I made substantive edits to the return. We definitely will not be returning. I called after tax filing day to confirm a question that our lawyer had about some business income and Maria refused to speak to me via the phone. Not only that, she wrote me a nasty email and put words in my mouth. If you're looking for someone competent, fair and has time - this is definitely not the place to go!! read more

I have utilized Advanta tax, Maria NGO for 2 amended returns 2017, 18 and 2019. Most recently 4/17/21, I received a proposed tax bill in the amt of $13,191.00. I was absolutely beside myself and contacted their ofc. (By phone and emails). The IRS also sent her copies of the cp2000. Due May 12, 2021. I am fully disabled and reliant only on RRB incomes. This amount due is almost 1/4 of my income. Can you imagine opening that letter!?! Every few days I would request an update, basically her response was, I'll get back to you when I review...the deadline came and went, she never contacted me and I was desperate for direction, anything... Admittedly, I do not have a clear understanding of how RRB 1099's should be itemized. I sought a professional to be certain it was done correctly. Wrong! Clearly because I was requesting her to amend the returns, I confirmed her competency in RRB, she assured me, because she was from the Valley and very familiar. Now, I realize I made a costly mistake utilizing Maria @ Advanta tax. Not only did she make errors, she was non responsive and just not truthful, only making excuses. She attempted to deflect responsibility to me, saying I did not submit the rrb1099's entirely. I did. The amounts were incorrectly included and incorrectly reflected on the return. I did request she refund the amounts I paid for the services ($750.00) since every return was incorrectly completed resulting in additional monies due. I don't want anyone to go through what I have gone through with Advanta tax. This was devastating for me! I have also contacted the BBB, of which she is not a member and does have an existing complaint. To the person considering this company, this person...buyer beware! Otherwise when you least expect it, you may be getting a notice from the IRS. One star only to submit review. read more

Idk what happened. The first year everything was fine. She lacked on communication but she did a good job so I went back this year and I regret it. She had ignored my emails and blamed her new staff who also ignored my emails. I gave her everything she needed by December. Actually every month in 2016. She lied and said they were done in January and She was double checking the numbers. Come end of March when it was really done she did everything wrong. The tax return was completely botched. So I tried to contact all of them and nothing. Then she assured me it would be done by April 18th and here it's Easter weekend and she's disappeared. I told her I was disappointed she lied about having it done and she and her whole staff ignored me when I asked her to redo it. I told her I wanted a discount. She said she'd do it free and I was skeptical. I want it done right not free if it isn't right or isn't done at all. Never heard from her again. Once she said she was sick that weekend that she said we could talk but I truly believe she was lying based on her terrible history with communicating. What was her excuse every other time she blew me off? I tried to file an extension. In 18 years of doing my own taxes I've never filed an extension and the irs rejected it for some reason. Now I'm going to get in legal and financial trouble just because Maria dropped the ball and she and her team decided they didn't like me. Idk what happened to her or her service but I'm appalled and I'm just expecting more lies. She left me hanging and it's on you as a taxpayer not her if she screws up or lets you down. What she did should be illegal. I might screen shot my emails here so you can see her negligence when I get a chance. I should also report her to the bbb. It's time for taxes and she hasn't replied at all! Then she sent some goons after me on yelp who have nothing better to do with their time than to personally harass and insult someone they don't know on line. Very professional.
