It's obvious he cares, which is pretty important when dealing with patients who are suffering from chronic pain. He's friendly and takes the time to explain each and every medication he prescribes. While Dr. Chang is amazing, his front desk staff leaves much to be desired. I don't want to go into details with that, but I will say that Dr. Chang is worth the hassle that his front desk staff creates.

Dr. Chang first performed the fluoroscopy-guided dye injection into my hip for an arthrogram, and was polite, concerned, and extremely gracious when he learned that I was mistakenly quoted a significantly lower self-pay cost than the normal charge for the second procedure he performed (diagnostic fluoroscopy-guided anesthetic injection into my hip bursa), and even offered to include cortisone in the injection at no additional cost to try and help relieve my hip pain. I was also impressed with his nurse, Irene, who went out of her way to help me find the Lincoln Park clinic where the second procedure was performed, and where they fit me in at the last minute so I could try and have some pain relieve before I went on a long-planned vacation. All and all, I can't recommend Dr. Chang highly enough. I am considering becoming a regular patient to treat my fibromyalgia, since I know he'll do a great job--and I kind of owe him the money! ;-)

Unfortunately, my experience with the Hinsdale location has been extremely frustrating due to ongoing organizational and scheduling issues. On three separate occasions, I drove more than an hour for a scheduled appointment, only to sit and wait before being informed that the doctor would not be in that day. On two other visits, my appointment was running more than two hours behind schedule, forcing me to leave without being seen. Scheduling by phone is equally problematic. Calls often go unanswered, and messages are rarely returned in a timely manner. When a callback does occur, it can take several days. In addition, there has been an ongoing billing issue involving Medicare that has still not been resolved after five months despite multiple attempts to correct it. While I have confidence in Dr. Khan and appreciate the care provided by Dawn and Trisha, the way this office is managed is unacceptable. The lack of organization, communication, and follow-through has led me to begin exploring other options for my care.

They've refused to do so, and I can't even get their medical records dept on the phone. My insurance company is refusing to cover the procedure because there is no proof of medical necessity, so I have to start over with test procedures for the next several weeks while occasionally vomiting from the pain. The issue with Midwest has nothing to do with the quality of the physical therapist. Despite being a client with good insurance and a history of receiving therapy multiple times before at this location, the front desk will not schedule you without a script in hand. I've been going to therapy for 2 months and because of my diagnosis will require many more months of P.T So instead of continuing PT, I have a 2 week lapse of treatment. All because my MD had written a script for 6 weeks of therapy and my MD appointment fell at the end of the 6 weeks. By the time I had the script in hand my therapist did not have evening openings. I'm trying to work while going to therapy. If your doctor is a rush doctor they don't care about the script and will schedule you. I have PPO insurance which is better then HMO and results in my having to pay more. They should change these scheduling habits and commit to providing good care. Allowing a 2 week lapse in my physical therapy shows a disregard for my well being. Maintaining a consistent pt schedule is very important to my recovery. When I initially scheduled they should have informed me they would not reschedule me without a script. They should have told me to contact my doctor 2 weeks before for the script so I could schedule or they could have contacted my doctor. They knew I would need PT for a lot longer time. I never had an issue with scheduling before.
