There were a large number of First Atlantic Restoration vans parked in close proximity to the entrance. Allowed to go through security screening I was surprised to be turned away and sent to Brock Cancer Center, Turning into Brock Center from Kempsville Road I discovered a convenient side entrance with much closer parking than entering through the beautiful front lobby. The side entrance opened to the hall that has the entrance to Outpatient Check in, which included Bloodwork, Imaging & the Breast Center. There I learned that the problems at Leigh were caused by water pipe breaks. Many of the Leigh employees had been sent to Brock to handle the patients being sent there. I've been a fan of the Brock Imaging Center for some time. Since fewer people realize there's an Imaging Center there, appointments are more readily available. I've had MRI's, Catscans and Bone Density Scans done at Brock. The equipment is state of the art and the employees are friendly. I'll continue to have my Imaging done at Brock with an added benefit of having discovered the more convenient Kempsville side entrance.

This isn't something I ever would have considered earlier in my life--not for any particular reason, I just wouldn't have done it. However, for the past four months, I have been working with Dennis Bueso, MA, RD (Clinical/Sports Dietitian), and the experience has been nothing like I expected. Being very overweight, I anticipated someone taking charge of the conversation and lecturing me on what I 'better' start doing. I think TV gave me a twisted idea of how these things go. Thankfully, it hasn't been like that at all. Our conversations are excellent and open. Mr. Bueso is incredibly 'chill' and immediately sets you at ease; it feels like a normal, back-and-forth conversation between two people. He is great at following up and is just a genuinely easy person to talk to. Since starting, I've seen amazing results. For those who know what A1C is, mine had been double what it should be for over five years. In just four months, I've brought it down to exactly where it's supposed to be. I give myself credit for controlling my diet, but Dennis has been instrumental in helping me understand what to watch and work on. In addition to the blood work, I've lost over 30 pounds in that same timeframe. I definitely want to give props and thanks to Mr. Bueso. If your doctor has recommended a dietitian, just do it. I worried about how it would go, but those worries were unnecessary. It has been a great experience. My son broke his arm in September 2024, and we took him to Wardell Orthopaedics for treatment…read more While the medical care itself was adequate, the billing experience has been frustrating and deeply disappointing. At the front desk, I explained that I wanted to pay in cash and was told the visit would not exceed $250. I paid that amount in full on the spot. Shortly after, I realized I had my insurance card with me and asked if the payment could be reverted so insurance could be used instead. The receptionist assured me that it wouldn't be a problem and processed it accordingly. Fast forward about a month, and I receive a bill in the mailed more than $1,100.00--a shocking amount that's over four times what I was initially quoted. Had I known this would be the outcome, I never would have authorized the insurance switch. The original agreement was a $250 cash payment, which I honored in good faith. This situation feels deceptive. There was no clear explanation of how using insurance could lead to such an inflated charge. It seems that once insurance was involved, the pricing structure changed entirely without my consent or proper disclosure. Patients and parents deserve transparency--especially when dealing with medical emergencies involving children. I strongly urge Wardell Orthopaedics to review their communication and billing policies. This experience has made me question whether I can trust this practice with my family's care in the future.

To be honest, I was not even a bit excited to begin going to PT. They have a 6,000 square foot facility INSIDE of the Bon Secours' Harbourview Medical Center. At first, it can be a bit difficult to find. If you park in the main medical parking lot, then head into the main entrance you will see the Wardell Ortho/Harbour Rehab entrance near the sandwich stand. The facility is quite nice, large windows surround the rehabilitating floor overlooking a small lake. They, also, have a television in the waiting area and free WiFi for patients. I've been seeing a Physical Therapist named Ed and a Physical Therapy Tech named Karen. Both of them are absolutely phenomenal to work with, I highly suggest asking for the both of them since they seem to have an abundance of experience/expertise. I have heard nothing but good things from fellow patients and friends of mine about their positive experiences. They have won "Best of the Best" so many times in HR that they have to find creative places to put them!

Fort Norfolk Medical Plaza is a one stop shop for most of your medical needs. There are many…read morehealthcare services available in the building including primary care physicians and a variety of specialties. Besides clinical services there is also a full-service laboratory and diagnostic center. The building is located next to Plum Point Park on the Elizabeth River so there are wonderful scenic views from offices on the east side of the building as well as the attached parking garage. The building is always clean and well maintained. Restrooms are always clean and properly stocked and the elevators always operate correctly. I appreciate the attached parking garage which affords ample parking to access the building as well as shelter from foul weather. I have always been able to easily find available parking. Access to the garage is controlled by automated gates. Parking is free for the first two hours. If you plan to be in the building for longer than that make sure to get your parking ticket validated so you don't have to pay. I get my ticket validated in my doctor's office or the diagnostic center which are both located on the eighth floor. I have been very satisfied with my visits to this building over the years. I enjoy the convenience of getting to the plaza by car but it is also accessible by The Tide light rail system.

There are a number of buildings, including what must be EVMS housing. Not only is it less crowded & easier to navigate than the labyrinth of the "across the street" complex, the main building that houses most of the patient related offices is very patient friendly. The above describes building has an attached parking garage with an easy to access elevator opening to each floor's small lobby. There are handicapped parking spaces directly adjacent to the glass enclosed elevator. For evening appointments, a security guard is stationed in the elevator area. Walking is at a minimum, which is perfect for me. My Cardiology Practice is located in the building as is the Sentara Sleep Center, which I've also visited numerous times. If your doctor orders lab work, you only have to take the elevator to the Sentara Fort Norfolk Diagnostic Center. Fort Norfolk Medical Plaza is easy to access, not just from Norfolk, but also Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Suffolk & Western Branch. It is very near the spot where Brambleton forks into the Midtown Tunnel & Hampton Boulevard. There is a Light Rail stop at Fort Norfolk for those who don't like to drive, Coming from Virginia Beach, one can make an easy trip via I-264 taking the best route through Waterside to Bousch to Brambleton. I usually make the return trip on the surface streets ending up on Princess Ann/Northhampton. Do you know why it's called Fort Norfolk? Guarding the Norfolk side of the Elizabeth River & Harbor is the fully restored War of 1812 era Fort Norfolk. It is currently only manned by ghosts of the past. But if you're lucky enough to secure a tour you can experience 21st century men re-enacting their 19th century forebears. Learning the history of Fort Norfolk will make you happy to be treading on historical footprints, if only for a doctors appointment.

I have worked primarily with Andrea and Paul although it is clear that everyone in the clinic is standing by ready and willing. You can tell that everyone is happy at their craft. Both Andrea and Paul are very thorough, professional and it's obvious that each are totally dedicated to their craft. I'm not sure how this works, but somehow they actually make physical therapy fun! No kidding! My orthopaedic surgeon had me assigned to another Physical Therapist after my surgery. I went and talked with that firm and told them I preferred to stay with TTN. The lady smiled and said that she's very familiar with TTN and said that I am they are as good as any firm in town. With my docs permission, I stayed with TTN and I'm glad I did. I assure you, if you are looking for a great Physical Therapist practice - congratulations, you have found just that! They have my strongest possible population.

The Sentara Hand Therapy Center is awesome…read more The center is located within the large Sentara Physical Therapy Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Center. The location is on the first floor of the new Sentara Orthopedic Surgery Center on the ever expanding Sentara Leigh campus. The building sits on the SE corner of the Kempsville Road & Virginia Beach Boulevard intersection. It shares an entrance & parking area with the new Brock Cancer Center. Walking into the therapy area one can't help but be impressed by the rows of hand/elbow stations. I'm not sure if the same therapists also handle shoulder therapy. Next time in I'll have to ask. The therapists are extremely knowledgeable. So far I've had both Alice & Tracy. They already had my surgeon's elbow therapy protocol. Since the Jordan Young Institute does a lot of outpatient surgery in the same building I wasn't surprised. The equipment is new & state of the art. At my latest appointment Alice wheeled over an ultrasound machine to use on my incision where scar tissue had caused a painful lump. The treatment was very soothing. Therapists have given great tips on the problems that come with not being able to put pressure on my dominant arm. My biggest issue has been getting out of bed & safely getting up or down the steps to my 2nd floor bedroom. Their suggestions worked well. I did have my "wings clipped" on Thursday. I needed to pick up one of my vehicles at a dealership on N Military Highway, where it had been left way far too long because of my arm. I was certain that I could manage using my left hand to drive. The route would be to Shore Drive & home, out of the high traffic area. My friend who took me to therapy "ratted me out". I was then given an emphatic "no driving" reinforcement order. The center has a bright & happy feeling. One entire side of the center is a floor to ceiling window. The view is Kempsville Road. Both the waiting room & therapy center are sparkling clean with a friendly staff. You won't go wrong choosing this PT Center. They are really good.

I went for a MRI at the heart hospital. It's a pretty big area. We found a parking garage and it…read morewas pretty easy to get inside. Sometimes the gates are raised and you won't have to pay for parking. Otherwise they can validate it if you have an appointment. You have to go through security and then check in at the desk. The imaging center was towards the front by Subway. They have a separate waiting area for your family to wait. It's pretty open in there with a TV to watch and lots of seating. It's nice that they have the Subway inside, but they do close early. The staff were all friendly. They took me to a room to change and gave me a locker with a key. The MRI room can feel a little intimidating. I'm claustrophobic so I'd recommend taking an anxiety med before going. Your doctor can prescribe one prior to your appointment. The process took about an hour, so be prepared to be inside the MRI machine for a bit. You will hear strange sounds and it's tight in there. But it's really not that bad. Ask for the mirrored glasses so you can see outside of the machine, so you don't freak out. Also you have to be still, but expect everything you never expected to itch, to start as soon as they strap you in. Lol. But the procedure went well, the staff was accommodating and friendly, and I recommend them for your MRI needs!!

The office is at the end of a rather long corridor but there is a hand rail down the entire length of it to the office door. The office is bright and clean and is shared by a Pulmonary Hypertension Practice.
