    C&W Mechanical - Removing the old A/C

    C&W Mechanical

C&W Mechanical is my go-to HVAC company. I've used them for several new installs and service calls,…read moreand they have always gone above and beyond. I have complete confidence in recommending them to anyone for residential or commercial needs. Mike and Dylan bring expertise and a sincere care for people. Those are the kind of people I want in my corner.

When looking for a HVAC installer most people want a company they can trust who is reliable but…read morealso incredibly experienced. C&W checks all these boxes and more! I have never seen a company as thorough and passionate about taking care of their customers! Let's face it, if you're reading this review you're most likely needing a new HVAC system. And if you're like me you want to work with people who care about the little details as much as you do. People who treat the project as if they were installing it at their own home. Again, C&W checks all the boxes. I worked primarily with Jay and this guy is by far one of the most caring, knowledgeable, considerate, and helpful people I've ever met! Every detail of the project was handled with the care that makes up his character and makes C&W one incredibly respectable company to work with. He didn't just show up and give us a bunch of generic quotes but really worked to identify what we needed for our house and tailored a system specifically for those needs. Goodness, he even ensured every small detail of the install went flawlessly. From making sure our carpets were covered during the work, to clean up, to ensuring every detail of the install went just as planned or above. I can't recommend these guys enough. And that's just the start. These guys don't disappear after the sale and install either. Jay has checked in almost weekly to ensure everything is working properly. He even hunted down and applied for state rebates on our behalf getting us a large chunk of cash back. I mean what company does that??? Who offers that kind of service in this day and time??? I'll tell you who does... Jay and C&W. So, if you're on the fence looking for who to go with on your next air conditioner install let me just go ahead and give you the push. Choose C&W! I literally researched all the top installers in this area. And I'll tell you there are some really good ones out there. But none of them reached up to the standard C&W set for service, equipment quality, expertise, and after install support. These guys really are the real deal and you won't be disappointed. If you're not at least, bare minimum, giving them a chance to earn your business and quote your job you're doing yourself a disservice. These guys care about their customers and it shows in every interaction and in how they handle every job. So if you've made it this far in this review hopefully you should be convinced at least to give them a call and quote your job. I think you will be just as impressed as I have been!

When it got stuck and wouldn't let the water out in Sept 2025 it was repaired at no charge under the warranty. It was still under warranty when it happened again in Jan 2026, but a different employee came out, who proceeded to tell me that I had broken it because the hose was attached to it. I explained that I had attached the hose to see if the water was working since it had gotten stuck the day before and I could not use it. Then he said the wind had caused it and I had caused it and I kept telling him I had not done anything and the wind had always been here and it had never affected the spigot that had been here for 20 years and then he said it I could add a heating strip and/or insulation - and again I said none of those things were needed with the previous frost-free spigot and this spigot is defective. At first I wanted it replaced because it was defective - this had happened twice now - it was not bursting, it wouldn't let the water out and this particular time whatever was froze up inside of it thawed out between me checking it and Tim his employee checking it. He did absolutely nothing to fix it and was surly and rude to me. I thought he had left to go back to the office and speak to his boss about it; instead he walked around in my yard without my permission, and apparently talking on the phone to his boss, because he came back to the front door and when I opened it, he put the phone out and said his boss wanted to speak to me so I took the phone, and his boss proceeded to shout at me, ranting in a nasty tone and repeating that I had left the hose on it and caused it to "freeze and bust" and told me that at least 10 times and I kept trying to speak and tell him it did not "freeze and bust" because it was working again! He was so rude and belligerent and I refused to be disrespected like that and handed the phone back to his employee, Tim. The owner Travis Knight, was such a bully and so rude to me because he did not want to honor the warranty. Today he called and left a message wanting me to call him. At this point I will not give him another opportunity to speak to me that way again. I texted him to inform him of that and to also inform him that neither he nor anyone associated with him can enter onto my property or they will be charged with trespassing. I will no longer accept a replacement and want to be refunded in full and I want my money back immediately.

One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning - Cookeville

I've been a customer for nearly 10 yrs over 2 residences. Never had any problems until recently…read more Short story, my unit was likely misdiagnosed twice and I had to get another company to fix it. I paid One Hour $473 more than the other company to NOT fix my unit, was made to agree to pay ANOTHER $644 when the unit wasn't fixed the first time and was told (by a fake manager) to be happy I wasn't paying $1200 instead. Then I was charged 2 additional months AFTER I cancelled my membership, had to call each time to get a refund, and was promised a call from management that never came. Save yourself some stress and go with a company that has management that actually cares about its customers. Long story: I noticed my heat was blowing in short spurts but my house was warm and I had a routine check up scheduled the next day. The next morning, the technician said my unit was frozen. They said they needed to check for leaks and it would cost $644. I agreed and they found one in the valve core. They fixed it and pressurized the unit. They said my unit was 'thirsty'. The next morning the air was blowing in short spurts and the unit was frozen again. I called and someone took my information and said someone from One Hour would call me back. All day, no call. I called again Sunday morning and got One Hour. They said they had no record of my previous days call. She said the next available appointment was the next day, Mon, and never offered to send someone that day. The next day the technicians said that they needed to do another leak search and charge me another $644. I called and asked for the manager and Lisa said she was who I needed to talk to. (To me that implied that she was the manager). She said even the most experienced technicians can miss a 'pinhole' leak and the technician that was there now was more experienced than the one Friday. I did not think I should be charged when the 'not as experienced' technician that was there Friday must have missed a leak. Again she said it was unreasonable for me to expect a technician to find a 'pinhole' leak the first time. She said that she was giving me a deal, the search they were planning to do was more extensive and cost $1200 but they are only charging me the $644. I told her I had no choice, I needed heat. They discovered they overcharged my unit by nearly 2 lbs on Friday. Because it was their error they did not charge me. After that, the unit worked fine for a few weeks. One Saturday morning it was below freezing, the unit was blowing short spurts again and was frozen. I called another company and the technician came within an hour. They said my fan was going out and was an easy fix that was covered by my warranty, I needed was to pay for labor, which was $122 plus the after hours fee of $49. (Total $171). He said when the fan is going out, you cannot check for leaks because the unit cannot pressurize. I called and canceled my membership with One Hour. She asked why and I explained the service and the rude 'manager' Lisa. She told me that Lisa was definitely NOT a manager. She also said I would be charged the membership fee on Jan 5th, as it takes a few weeks to cancel. I was charged Jan 5th, but was charged again on Feb 12th. I called and confirmed I was canceled and she had no idea why I was charged. I called back the next week to confirm that they had issued me a refund check and I was cancelled. Mar 5th I was charged again. Furious, I called the office and asked to speak with a manger. They said it takes 24 to 48 hrs to get a call back. This was on a Thursday and she was sure they would call me back the following day (Friday). The next TUESDAY I had still not received a call. I called back and she could see no one had looked into getting me a refund but she would. She could not see if I was still on the list to be called because she was not the one who escalated the call. I received the second refund check the following week and so far, no more charges. I have still to this day, never received a call from management. DO THEY EVEN EXIST????

My heat went out over the weekend so I called them to come out and take a look. After poking around for a few hours looking puzzled, the guy said I had a freon leak and I needed a whole new condenser unit. He sent another guy over who told me it would be $6k to replace it, and that it was best to replace the entire system for $10k. He tried to pressure me into it by offering a "discount", saying prices were going up in a couple weeks, etc. Thankfully, I didn't bite and got a second opinion. I called JLS Mechanical (recommended by my contractor). The guy they sent told me One Hour was completely full of it, and there was nothing wrong with my condenser. He temporarily fixed my heat so I wouldn't freeze overnight, then came back the next day with parts and had me up and running better than before for under $500! So either (A) One Hour is completely incompetent, or (B) they are con-artists. Either way, they almost cost me $9,500 I didn't need to spend. Definitely would not recommend.

I requested water heater service through my home warranty company on a Friday. I spoke to CCS owner, via phone, and told him what was happening. CCS scheduled a home appointment for Monday. Failed to make the appointment because the employee was reportedly in a crash and totaled the truck. They would not answer any phone calls, but only communicated by Text after this. They said they would send someone on Tuesday. No one showed. No response to texts until Thursday...now 6 days after first conversation. I send photos of the Water Heater and leak and I was told they would work on getting a new one ordered. On Monday, now 10 days later, Home Warranty company sends me an email saying some repairs and new items, plus plumbing lines and code upgrades are not covered. This was based on the CCS estimate after they "visited" my home on Friday. CCS never visited my home. I complained to Warranty company they estimate is inaccurate and false since CCS never visited my home. Warranty company calls CCS and is told the second driver was involved in a crash and did not make it to the home on Friday either. However CCS submitted the false estimate highlighting many items that were not needed. CCS would have known that if they actually came to the home. I recontact CCS and ask for a copy of the estimate and they won't provide it. Told me their second driver's truck was down for repairs and that is why he did not make the appointment...that I was never told they were coming for. In the end, the Home Warranty company is reimbursing me my costs when I got my own contractor and they agree that CCS was not honest in this work approach. I would caution anyone that is considering using CCS of Wilder, TN. I found them untruthful and unreliable.
