I was originally working with a different local lender to get a pre-approval for a mortgage, but I…read morecalled Denise Harrington at the advice of my realtor to try to shop around on a quote. Denise was really wonderful -- she told me what rate she would get, how her prices would likely compare to my lender, and very quickly threw together a fee sheet. The rate was even better than the initial quote I'd gotten from the lender I'd been working with -- which was already pretty low. She then went to bat for me and locked in the rate she promised -- even though mortgage rates were starting to trend upward. If you're shopping around for a mortgage, give Denise a call. In my experience, she'll work extra hard to earn and keep your business, and she will give you the best rate she can get up front.

If supporting the local Gainesville economy is not enough reason to go with these guys, I will add…read morethat they provided me a better rate than any of the big banks (BOA, Regions, or Suntrust). They also were responsive throughout the process (none of that "Sorry, I can't help you with that" business you get at big banks). To top it off, they allowed me to close in less than 1/2 the time the big banks were taking to close. It was a no brainer to go with Advisors Mortgage Group. My representative was Marc Spiwak, and he was amazing.
