Having a network of other adopting parents was probably one of the best resources because you had others you could ask questions of and level set expectations. We had interviewed a few other agencies before settling on AdoptHelp. To start- AdoptHelp is has one of the largest reaches when it comes to getting Adoptive Parents out there and in front of birth moms. They partner with other agencies and groups to help find the best matches. I like that they limit the # of parents that they work with and do not over extend their efforts. Don't get me wrong, the whole process is expensive and anyone considering going down this road need to consider that requires a lot of effort-- time, mentally, emotionally, and expenese. But it's all worth it because they will be by your side until you either adopt your child OR choose to end your journey. There are lot of other agencies that feel very 'for-profit' when Adopt Help's team and lawyers focus on meeting the needs of their current parent base. They guide you along the way to ensure you have the right tools and options that meet your needs. The team was always responsive when I had questions. During the inevitable waiting to get matched period-- I appreciated the monthly updates to see how many mothers were were presented to. We were actually chosen twice and we voiced our concerns about the first match and we did not feel pressured from AdoptHelp to reciprocate. I appreciated Gabby and Olga's candor and experience. When we finally matched with our birth mother, Gabby, was available at all times of day to answer our questions. From the time we were chosen, to match, to the birth of our son was about 8 days. Adopthelp sought out and provided as much background information as they could to help us make an informed decision, and we were given pointers on how to talk to the birth mother, understanding that it is a very emotional time for all parties involved. Hi I'm a birth mother of adopt help and I just wanted to share my story and journey with this agency. I see there's not many birth mothers reviews on here and my story is so amazing I think all birth mothers considering adoption should know how great it was for me and my fiancé. So here we go.. I was 4 months pregnant when I decided to look into adoption, I did a simple google search and this was what popped up. I had expected to check out a few agencies before tying down to one, but as soon as I called I was sent paperwork, pamphlets and wonderful stories through fed ex overnight. I still wasn't sure if this is what I wanted to do for sure, I went through the paperwork, turned it in, and read the stories I was sent. I was immediately contacted by a wonderful woman named Kathryn and sent profiles of amazing families looking for a missing piece in their lives. It took me awhile to look through the families, my fiancé and I went through them several times and was not rushed by the agency one bit. I never did another Google search for another agency, I knew if this is what we decided on, this would be the agency to help do so. It took us about a month to get back to Kathryn and tell her who we had wanted to "interview" I guess you'd say. She immediately contacted the family and had us a phone call scheduled later that week with them. It was very awkward of course.. Didn't know exactly what to say besides share our concerns of having a 3rd child at 25 and 26 years old.. With our other two being under the age of 4. I don't usually write reviews on Yelp. That said, I felt pretty passionately about what had happened and needed to put pen to paper. In this case, I can't thank AdoptHelp enough. My wife and I, for being on the younger side, had a tough infertility journey that lasted 4 years. We were both pretty emotionally strained and at the end of hope, when we turned to the idea of adoption to create a family. We first sat through a few agency seminars, which almost made things worse by adding confusion, uncertainty, a laundry list of requirements that never seemed to end, and a question mark of a timeline. For two normal hard-working folks like my wife and I, the fact that we couldn't control the situation by trying harder or learning something new, made things even worse. We finally stumbled upon AdoptHelp via some casually Googling one night, and setup a call with Mark the following week. After talking to Mark, and understanding how he works with parents to be like us, how he sources and then works/supports birth mothers, how he matches the two, and then how they handle everything related to the courts/adoption process, it was clear he understood his business and the stress involved on all parties. We were officially a profile on the site by the end of March. We set it up, and focused on having the best year of our lives. Then to our surprise, 8 weeks later, we got the call. We had been chosen by a birth mother and father, who were delivering that night. We hopped in our car and drove overnight to LA. Olga/Lisa and the AdoptHelp Team set everything up. When we got to the hospital at 7am, we were immediately ushered into the nursey to meet our new 3-hour old son, who was gently sleeping. We are a two-time AdoptHelp family. AdoptHelp has played such an important role in shaping our family and we are so grateful! Through AdoptHelp, we adopted our first son in 2014 and our second son in 2018. Mia was our caseworker for both adoptions and she sort of feels like family to us now. With our second adoption, we experienced a handful of bumps/ "failed" placements along the way--all of which were emotionally and financially devastating at the time, but ended up becoming an integral part of the path that led us to our son. I wish there were more than 5 stars to give. We will forever be indebted to Adopthelp for our beautiful family. Having done two adoptions with them and both very different experiences, never once were we disappointed with how they managed a situation. Not only were they always available to discuss any concern we might have about the process but they thoughtfully, thoroughly, and honestly explained the process so we knew all possible outcomes of a situation - some good and some bad- but that is the nature of adoption. Their passion and dedication to help build families is clearly demonstrated in everything they do and their knowledge about how adoption works across the US is beyond reproach. We were never left to do anything on our own or figure anything out on our own, Adopthelp guided us through the process in 2 other states. For our 2nd adoption, we literally moved so we could work with them because our 1st experience was so amazing. My wife and I matched with the most wonderful birth parents we could have imagined around Sept of 2015. We are now parents raising a beautiful baby boy. I think it took 1 year 8 months to match - about what they estimate (1 1/2 years) given our filters. The hardest thing is to wait. You get updates about how many birth mothers you are presented to, and if you were second choice with any. I really don't mind the low contact during this phase, AdoptHelp's most important job is to connect with birthmothers, but like I said, it is hard to wait. About 1 year 3 months in, we tried to widen our outreach by working with a local adoption facilitator. This did not work out. The facilitator has made many fine matches, and we talked with people who had had success with them, but overall I got the sense that the adoptions were more expensive and there were more failures. We matched with someone right away with the facilitator but the match fell through - it was emotionally hard and cost 10k (given how far it progressed). When we did match through AdoptHelp, I was amazed at how good a match it was. While waiting, I got more concerned about our profile, was it too honest, too specific? Should we have tried to figure out what the typical birth mother wants to hear? When we finally matched though, I was amazed at how much we had in common with the birth parents, and how fun those quirky specific things were and how they helped the match.
