The structure is beautiful and looked like a barn; it was nicely decorated and showcased Vermont as a whole. The restrooms were large and clean; they had changing tables which was a plus. They had a large patio area with many seats. There was even a playground. Parking was plentiful. We went in September around 6:30 pm and outside near the playground, there were a ton of mosquitos. We had to run out of there lol. Overall, it's a great spot to stop and stretch your legs if you're in the area.

Everyone working there was helpful, especially the woman at the main counter. She pulled out some maps and booklets and highlighted some covered bridges we were looking for and suggested a deli near one of them. Sometimes, digital maps and internet access to these things are nice for planning, as we had, but a good old fashioned paper map of the area highlighted by a local, can still be helpful in decision making. The rest rooms were very nice and there was some art in the display room. But the traditional post and beam construction was the main attraction. The parking was ample. Do stop here, whether you need help or not, it was well worth seeing. It truly is a Welcome Center to a very beautiful state.

The drive up to the summit is an easy drive, about 30 minutes. The State Reservation Center showed a short informational video. Unfortunately, the peak was cloud covered with breaking sun during our visit. The drive up was scenic, with winding roads offering glimpses of the charming woodland scenes. Once at the top, the Veterans War Memorial Tower added a historical touch to the beauty of the surroundings. The short hike around the summit was peaceful. If you're feeling adventurous, there are longer trails that seemed perfect for a day hike. We didn't have time to tackle them all but definitely plan to return. We hid a coin in a slate rock wall near the Appalachian Trail for our church brother to find should he reach this spot during his early 2025 attempt at traversing the trail. There's a small visitor center however it was closed during our visit. We were unable to grab a quick bite at Bascom Lodge. All in all, Mount Greylock is a must-see if you're in the Berkshires, offering the perfect blend of nature, history, and beauty. Just be sure to bring your camera--the views are unforgettable!

I didn't throw the dart which always brings me places, I wanted to be sure I was in the mountains, we went North East topside of the Catskills, we wanted to walk Washington Irving's books takes, to see the greens from Douglas Fir to mighty oaks, the silvertip mountain tops and the changing of the leaves. Inside the visitors center, there was Rip, staff in hand, hand me down galligasketts, good natured smile and his walking stick -- there to greet as were Heather and Nancy. As many miles big road hound and I have traveled, to where the road never ends, these two fine ladies were the watermark set above and beyond all prior - to be sure.

Don't let…read morethe small footprint of the Canopy Tour fool you - there are some very challenging stations packed into this small space, and there are actually two courses - a high course and a lower course. We first did the low course, and then all except one member of our group opted to continue on to the high course. We had previously done the canopy tours at Adventure Park at Storrs and Treetop Adventures, and we all felt that this course was more challenging. We spent about 1.5 hours completing both courses. We all felt very safe here, and were given excellent instructions on how to clip in and out. The staff was really helpful and the equipment was well maintained. Be sure to make a reservation - it does fill up on summer weekends!

A Day to Remember at Berkshire East!…read more My granddaughter and I shared an unforgettable adventure zip-lining at Berkshire East today. From the very start, the staff brought humor, warmth, and professionalism to our group--making everyone feel comfortable and well-prepared. Their friendly approach and clear guidance helped ease any nerves and turned doubt into excitement. At 73, I'm in reasonably good shape, and my granddaughter is 18. While there's a bit of hiking between each zip line, only one stretch--leading to the final run--was truly challenging. It's a steep uphill climb with few chances to catch your breath. I didn't hold up the group, but I'll admit I haven't tackled a hike like that in quite some time... so consider yourself warned! That said, I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. Sharing laughs and thrills with my granddaughter created memories I'll cherish forever. I wholeheartedly recommend this adventure to anyone looking for a healthy dose of excitement, connection, and joy.
