I absolutely loved the way we were treated during the IEC golf tournament by everyone at Keystone National! The greens here are no bigger than my thumb nail but still have some break in them. I hit several good shots that were within 15 feet it off the green. This place reminds me of one of the very first golf courses I played on as a child outside of Claremore. I don't recall the name but it had two tees for every hole so as to mix it up a little. So memories abounded when I got here. I look forward to coming back next year and hell, I might even just pick up a yearly. They are only $50!

Overall, it was a memorable experience with some highs and a few drawbacks worth noting. This is a challenging course with lots of doglegs, blind tee shots, and narrow greens. Elevation changes throughout the course added to the difficulty and made for a scenic round. It's definitely a course where local knowledge helps -- some holes required careful club selection and positioning due to hidden greens or tee boxes. The greens were in good condition and rolled true, which was a highlight. For a municipal course, the maintenance was impressive, especially given the complexity of the layout. This is a unique layout, but one thing to be aware of: several holes overlap or run close to each other. We had multiple instances of errant balls coming from nearby fairways, so stay alert throughout the round. We played on a hot day (around 90°F) and were disappointed that there was no drink cart available. However, the staff in the clubhouse were friendly and attentive, which helped make up for it. We visited on a busy Saturday, and the pace of play was about 4 hours -- very reasonable given the traffic and course difficulty. This course is worth checking out, especially if you're up for a challenge and enjoy elevation changes.

In 1932, legendary designer Perry Maxwell redesigned the former sand green 9 hole course (now the back 9). You can definitely see his touch in the heavily undulated greens. Sadly, a municipality of this size lacks the resources to properly maintain an otherwise respectable (6700 yds blue/6300 white) layout. Very poor turf conditions from tee up to green. The greens themselves are well maintained and while not particularly fast rolled pretty true.

The food is subpar and expensive. Wifi is very slow. Don't expect peace and quiet because the lobby is constantly playing loud country music. The girl who works there is sweet and deserves a raise.

The staff are great and tee times are easy to get. There are many tournaments and opportunities for fellowship. Membership fees are affordable and give access to a swimming pool, exercise and weight room, and tennis courts adjacent. The grill offers a tasty menu that is very affordable but, there is not a full service bar. Old farts play an early morning scramble tournament with randomly assigned teams giving the opportunity to win credits in the pro-shop with lunch included. The ladies have a similar tournament. Both offer the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. The only negative I have is that the club house facilities need some repair and upgrades. All-in-all a great value!
