I was looking for a new primary care doctor for my children, because our previous pcp was over a 20…read moreminute drive across town. We found Dr. Michael Meyers was accepting new patients, so I made an appointment. His nurse or medical assistant seemed like she was in a hurry and didn't really care to listen to what I was saying as she was checking us in. Then when Dr. Meyers came into the room; from the get-go, he had a condescending nature as to why we were there. I told him our previous doctor said that one of my children was due for a yearly check-up, and I brought my older child in for one as well. He acted confused like that was stupid. Then every problem I brought up that I had concerns with, I got just an impression from him like "Try this or that first; otherwise, we'd refer to dermatology...I'm not going to treat it". (Referring to just a basic request for acne issues with my son). The reason you see a PCP I thought was to get total care, not to get referrals. So I thought he had a terrible bedside manner for children especially. I don't know what to do; if I should go try to find a pediatrician or what. But I really don't feel like I want to go see him again for any help just for the fact that he'd treat me like I'm an idiot.

About a year ago, I moved to the area and saw this doctor to continue my legally prescribed…read moremedication. During my visit, I explained my medications and that I still had some remaining. The doctor told me to use what I had and call when I needed a refill. When I called, the prescription was refused with no explanation. I expressed concern because abruptly stopping this medication can cause serious health risks, including seizures and even death. The staff consulted with the doctor but returned to refuse the prescription again, with a dismissive laugh, leaving me without guidance. Had the doctor told me she would not refill the medication, I could have worked with her on a safe plan or tapered off under guidance, but no options were offered. I never filed a complaint; I found a doctor who would provide honest and safe care. I was left in a dangerous situation that no responsible medical provider should allow. I hope future patients receive clear guidance and respectful communication, especially for medications with serious withdrawal risks.

At the current age of 76 Dr. Dayana Patera is the Best Doctor I have ever had. I am a professional PhD scientist. She provided us with references to scientific articles as approximate. The office, nurse, and laboratory staff are excellent. She identified the possibility that I could have aggressive prostate cancer when my PSA was 7 and suggested I contact experts in the cancer treatment. After advanced proton radiation treatment or my Stage 1 aggressive cancer at Mayo Clinic, semiannual PSA tests confirm I was cured. When we came to Nebraska six years ago, we became independent residents at Eastmont and had access to selecting healthy foods. My wife previously did not cook some healthy vegetables as she did not like them. My annual blood tests showed that the levels of lipids, etc. were firmly in the healthy range. Currently, I am taking no medications or supplements. Her excellent medical advice and care and being at Eastmont which facilitates exercise and eating healthy was meant that my wife and I are stronger and healthier than we were before returned to Lincoln. My wife who is also a scientist has major health issues when we arrived in Lincoln. Thanks to Dr Patera she is stronger than she was six years ago. The medication she was taking for a mental disorder was recently reduced by 2/3nd. For the first time in a long history of Type 2 diabetes, Dr. Patera got her a continuous glucose blood monitor, which is not considered standard practice. To ensure that she got the best care, Dr. Patera referred her to an endocrinology specialist. After a complete examination, the specialist said he could not improve on Dr. Patera's plan and referred her back to Dr. Patera. My wife's father was cared for by Nebraska Internal Medicine for decades by another doctor. He lived in independent living at Eastmont until he was 103.5 and passed at the age of 104. We believe the other doctors are excellent, as Dr. Patera. This is the first care center where the laboratory for most tests are done on site. We have seen nothing to suggest that the 1 star rating that is posted is accurate.
