I started with what seems to be a traditional salad - chopped with greens, tomatoes and radish dressed perfectly with a little lemon juice, salt and pepper. The salad was served family style so one was plenty for two people. They brought out a fresh sea bass so I ordered the sea bass special which was also served family style and plenty for two. The bread was nicely toasted and a bit more complex than plain white. I ordered what seemed similar to tzatziki for the bread. The food was simply delicious and the staff was wonderful! Two beers for my partner and a raki for me. The bill total was a very reasonable 111 TL I highly recommend this quiet, lovely, reasonably priced little place!

It serves two Turkish…read moredelicacies. 1) Fried mussels ("Midye Tava"), that come in three pieces, skewered over a stick with tarator (garlic sauce) upon request and 2) Kokorech, which is grilled intestines over charcoal that is seasoned with oregano, red pepper and other local spices before it is served in half ("yarim") or quarter ("ceyrek") bread. Mussels are picked locally from the island waters. The kokorech is prepared the right way and thoroughly cleaned. There are only few places you can safely eat (as a tourist at least) kokorech in Istanbul (e.g. Huseyin Usta Kokorech, Sampiyon Kokorech) and this place is one of them. I have been eating at Huseyin Usta going back 30+ years, and even though I now live in Los Angeles I still miss the delicious kokorech and the fried mussels and make it a point to stop when I am in Istanbul. Try both and I guarantee you won't be disappointed!
