Both Cheryl and Adam were SO lovely from the moment I walked in. I've been dealing with chronic Meniere's Disease related vertigo for the last ten years. And at the culmination of several tragic and highly stressful life events, I suffered a permanent vertigo attack and damage to my left ear that left me unable to walk or drive for about 3 months, and walk unsteadily from there on out. At six months, my globally reknown ear specialist told me that I would likely have this new form of vertigo for the rest of my life, and that my only option was to try invasive micro shunt surgery that has a 50% rate of success. I tried craniosacral massage, without any noticeable improvement after several sessions. After six months with 24/7 vertigo and wobbly walking, one of my coworkers recommended I see Adam at Acutonix - because she had been cured of chronic vertigo. Typically skeptical of alternative medicine, I was finally at the point that I was ready to try anything. I was impressed with the Acutonix facility. Cheryl at the front desk is very professional. The environment is filled with the sights and sounds of healing. I met with Adam, and he gave me an overview of acupuncture healing methods. Within several sessions, I noticed that my vertigo was improving. I was able to walk on uneven surfaces without people thinking I was totally drunk at work in the middle of the day! I had a massage with Yuka Okajima yesterday, and I must tell you that it was THE BEST massage I have ever had in my entire life. Yuka's been doing massage for over nine years, and it shows in the way she works. She used a combination of Thai, Deep Tissue, Sports, and Shiatsu on me yesterday - I also know massage, but it's not like I can thoroughly massage myself, so I have to go out and get it. I've had tons of massages, but nothing like hers. Yuka understands the body, and isn't simply looking for tension and knots. She finds every bit of tension in the body, she knows what leads to where, and she targets every issue you can have without you even having to tell her what they are. She has quite a clientele base, and her talent shows because people come back and are loyal to her for years upon years. As of yesterday, I also truly understand why they do so, and I must admit that I will probably never let any other masseuse touch me ever again. Yuka knew exactly what to do, and the next day I'm not as sore and stiff [even after a deep tissue massage, which can leave your muscles in the inflammatory response mode for a day or two] and my range of motion is returning. The acupuncturist here is also legendary, and he is also constantly booked. Acutonix itself is a very comforting experience. It has an Asian motif [go figure, the main owner is a TCM practitioner], and there is always soft music/chanting playing in the background. My experience at Acutonix was nothing short of amazing. This was my first time with acupuncture. I'm new to the area and of course went to yelp to find a quality practitioner to go to. Adam, the office/staff and the environment there is soothing and healing. I had a knee injury from running and I figured if I went to my primary care of even an orthopedist or sports type rehabilitator, I'd be sent off to someone else or signed up for physical therapy sessions. I don't have insurance and I also highly believe in eastern medicine so thus- my visit. When I arrived for my first visit, I filled out an extensive questionnaire and had a brief wait until Adam took me to the "therapy area"...don't know what else to call it. He reviewed my records and took a bit to pinpoint the exact location of my pain and then went away with the needles. If anyone hasn't tried acupuncture before...the needle insertion process is painless. After the needles are inserted, you get to relax on a very comfy "medical recliner" and hang out with really healing, soothing music. I had also mentioned to Adam that my sinuses were giving me problems but that wasn't the main reason I was there. Long story short, within the first day of the first session, my sinuses were completely "fixed" and my knee has returned to a strong pain free knee after only 2 sessions. If you don't know much about acupuncture, I discovered that it can fix basically any ailment from depression, insomnia, digestive problems, to chronic pain, acute pain, infertility....the list goes on. I plan to see Adam for another issue in the future and I HIGHLY recommend him as a healer. I was recommended to Adam for fertility treatment. I am 40 and had been trying to get pregnant with my first. Dr. Patrick Avedissian is the best!!! He works out of Acutonix, this gorgeous little healing center that's been on Abbot Kinney for over a decade. I've been seeing him for ages, mostly for pain management. I always say Patrick can "fix" anything because his technique relieves the most stubborn of issues. Patrick does muscle testing and has a unique way of adjusting. I've been getting chiropractic adjustments since 1990, all over California with many different Chiropractors. He is one-of-a-kind. He's very confident and gives a reliable, fearless (but never harmful) adjustment. I wouldn't say he is the most gentle chiropractor, but I find his adjustments peaceful in their precision. He's a little salty, cool, matter-of-fact and quite funny; he gets the job done in one or 2 visits at most. I used to have to go for months to clear up pain or issues to other chiros, but his work is solid. He has put me through several cleanses over the years, has all the homeopathic supplements and always tests again after adjustment to see where your body is at. I once asked him who he goes to for adjustments and he answered that he adjusts himself because he has never found anyone else with his particular style. Yuka is, simply put, a great massage therapist. My husband found her and gifted me her pregnancy massage early on in my pregnancy and I am forever thankful that he did. She grew up with massage and really understands the body and cares about your healing. It was very clear to me after the first massage that she's in a different category of massage therapists. She is super informative too, not only about what is going on with your body, but about other healthy things and often shares tips and ideas that she either knows from experience or has learned from her other clients. I am now almost through the pregnancy and have seen her monthly except for recently, which has been every two weeks. I find her to be consistent and reliable and just a cool person overall. And my body always feel so amazing for a week after I see her, even though I have a desk job and spend most of my time sitting during the work week. I hope I don't need to, but I may use her to induce labor via massage, and I certainly will keep her as my massage therapist postpartum. read more

I am brand new to Acupuncture, having had the practice recommended to me following a couple of very painful strength training and yoga injuries early this year - a torn rotator cuff and bulging lumbar discs. All of my appointments have been made easily and adjusted easily either via phone or via Acutonix's great scheduling app, and I am always grateful to Angela and the studio for being punctual, starting each and every treatment at the appointment time on the dot. I had a question regarding the application of my health insurance benefits - a great plus that my policy pays for all but the small co-pay per visit! - and the business manager at Acutonix, Lin, was prompt and so helpful in answering my questions and providing reassurance that my insurance was being applied to the billing process. I have the added benefit of living nearby, so I walk to my appointments, but I do know that there is excellent metered parking in a large lot behind the studio, so that adds to the ease of arriving and leaving for those who drive. I had a problem of endometriosis and potential ovarian cancer... and I went to see Dr. Joe Recsnik, who came recommended by a friend of mine. When I got to acutonix to start my treatment I had a cyst of 7,8cm, and a CA protein marker of 50 (normal score is 35), and an OVA1 score of 6.2 (which should be under 5 for malignancy). Doctors said, it looked like ovarian cancer and I needed surgery in within a week. I am only 31 yo, so I wanted to try something else... I started this treatment with Dr. Recsnik based on acupuncture and herbs. He told me that he will put me on a very strong formula since we only had one week to make a difference, I assumed it would not be enough. When I went back to my gynecologist for my pre-op I told him I started Chinese medicine. He didn't like the idea, but when he did the ultrasound, he found out that the cyst reduced 1cm in one week!! The gynecologist though, kept talking about surgery and the need of having to remove my entire ovary and fallopian tube on the right side... He kept saying it was still big and it will not affect my fertility, but that meant getting surgery and local anesthesia. He sent me then, to the oncologist, for a visit... The oncologist also got impressed by the ultrasound taken. He said that was totally impossible, since cysts bigger than 5 cms will not reduce ever and that is why they need surgery. At that point he was not willing to do surgery on me, the opposite of what my gynecologist said until they could find out why the cyst was getting smaller... So he planned another ultrasound for me and another CA125 marker couple of weeks after, while I kept going w Dr. Recsnik treatment... the marker came back 39 this time, and the cyst was only 4cms!!!! In a bit more than month, I took down the CA125 almost to normal and the cyst got reduced half of the size, plus they cannot find that annexed mass on my ovary anymore... I am still on Dr. Recsnik treatment, I have another ultrasound at the end of september, if the cyst keeps on getting smaller and my CA125 levels go back to normal, I wont need surgery... I cannot even begin to explain how grateful I am for this, and how Dr. Resnick has helped me. I never tried any alternative medicine until now, and I am very afraid of needles, but this experience has changed my perception forever, and I strongly encourage all the women who are having any ovarian problems to give it a chance. read more
