My kids are able to gain much knowledge that they're not able to find in textbooks, but through all the fun activities at BALA throughout the years. Everyday, both kids would come home talking about all the cool things they did and learned (or ate :) ), and showing off their various worksheets. The teachers are passionate about what they do. They are nice but yet strict about good behavior and using the Chinese language during Chinese classes. Ms Tong was wonderful to kids and work closely with parents to understand the kids' need and progress. I can't say enough good things about this school and its teachers.

We had to stop because we were worried it'd hurt his long-term motivation, especially in English. We found JEI through a friend's recommendation and were honestly skeptical at first, because my son was really against going to tutoring at that point. But within a couple of weeks, everything changed. He started saying the tutors were "funny" and actually looked forward to going and showing them his completed JEI workbooks. Now JEI is part of our weekly routine, and the results have been clear. Their personalized approach and engaging teaching have boosted his confidence--he now enjoys reading and grammar and consistently earns 3s in English. The center manager and the tutors there are excellent. They are patient and supportive while engaging structure to boost academic learning skills. They aim to support kids with different levels of learning abilities. My kid attends the reading and the math subjects. You can choose which subject (or both) to attend based on your circumstances. You get out of it what you put into it - it's a 4 hour class each week, with ~2 hours of homework each week at a minimum, but your vocabulary expands very quickly as does your grasp on grammar, character structure, etc.. I'll definitely be pursuing the next level courses with CLA. Wang Laoshi (王老师) was a great teacher and I would definitely recommend getting in her class! If you're still on the fence, don't be - just jump right in. You won't regret it.
