Abby Blacker provided great help in making the process easy. He was welcomed and settled in quickly, While he complained daily to me about the food and maintenance at the other place, he spoke glowingly of everything at Park Summit. We are very happy that we moved my mom to Parkside Tamarac…read more She was previously living in a memory care home owned and operated by a different company, but she had to move because that company is converting the property into apartments and condos. From the moment we met the Parkside staff, we were impressed by their kindness and helpfulness. The Tamarac location is brand new (as of March 2025) and it is dedicated exclusively to Memory Care services (as opposed to assisted living). Parkside also offers furnished rooms, which made our move even easier. When you tour the new location, you can see that every detail has been carefully considered, and everything is pristine. The central kitchen would be a dream for any professional chef, and the beauty salon is fully equipped and conveniently located for all residents to use (see photos). Moving a parent or loved one who suffers from dementia can be overwhelming, but the staff at Parkside went above and beyond to make the transition as smooth as possible. We are incredibly grateful for their support.

They have a state-of-the-art clubhouse that has ping pong tables , a theater and a gym The apartments themselves are very large 900 square feet and all of them have a balcony. The balconies look out on the trees including the pool for some and the lake for others. The only negative in the two units we saw were the kitchens, which are outdated. Two meals a day are provided so I was not as concerned about the kitchen. Mom and I had dinner in their dining room and I have to say the food was very good. They have a regular menu and then an alternate menu that you can choose from daily. There are four course dinners available if you want to eat a lot. My mom will be moving in next week. The staff are consistently friendly, the public areas are spotless, and security is always kind and welcoming when you come to visit. Parking is plentiful, with both paved spots and shaded parking available in front of buildings under the trees. The food is delicious, and the dining plan makes daily life easy and enjoyable. You can grab a quick order at the bistro or sit down for a more traditional restaurant-style meal. There are daily activities -- with even more during the holidays and different seasons -- and they decorate beautifully for every occasion. The rooms are lovely, bright, and comfortable. Light housekeeping is included, along with many other customizable service options to meet individual needs. It's a thoughtfully run community that truly feels like home.

Technically, Sunflower is an assisted living "facility" - but it was really my mom's home for the…read morepast three years. When I say it was her "home" I mean her home in the true sense of the word. This was her house where she felt safe and important, where she was a person and not just a patient. Immaculately maintained, the environment was one of warmth, compassion and fun. The staff is amazingly caring and quickly became her family. One of her aides, Marveline my mom referred to as "her best friend." The owner, Marguerite was her "other best friend." I got to know all of her Sunflower people more and more as my mom's health began to deteriorate. I was kept in the loop on everything and any request I made was never a problem. Soon Mom's family became my family too. As her physical health declined her cognitive abilities went with it. Mom became more and more difficult to deal with. She was frightened, angry and disoriented, lashing out at everyone close to her. Her behavior ran the gamut of sobbing uncontrollably in impossible despair to yelling the most vicious insults at everyone. Her Sunflower family was unfazed and in addition to tending to her every physical need they became more and more indulgent, doting on her to fulfill her psychological needs, assuaging her fears by reassuring her that she was safe and loved. Mom's last night at her Sunflower home was night before last. Hospice, which Marguerite helped me coordinate, spent her last week continuously with her and of course her aides were there for her as well. We were all in constant contact. When I came from NY to see Mom in her final days it was as if I was finally meeting old family members. I've been through the death of a parent before and unfortunately know full well what the wrong way to leave is. I am forever grateful that Sunflower gave my Mom the ability to pass peacefully - in her own bed surrounded by her familiar world of the past 3 years. With dignity and grace. And with love.

Elaine provided lots of help, patience and guidance in helping my Mom find the perfect new home. Beautifully decorated, and well-kept property and community. The community and residents are very warm and inviting. Then, I discovered mold in my mom's apartment during the first week of October and promptly informed the maintenance team. Unfortunately, the actions taken did not remove the mold and my mother continues to experience symptoms such as sneezing, coughing, runny nose, aches, and pains for months, which the Dr confirmed are directly related to mold exposure. I escalated the matter to Pacifica's Executive Director, and she immediately coordinated with maintenance to treat the mold, requiring my mother to vacate the apartment temporarily. While the maintenance team applied mold treatment and repainted the ceiling, my mother continued to find mold on personal belongings, including shoes, purses, and towels. Executive Director acknowledged the issue and offered to move my mother to another unit within the building. However, I cannot risk her health any further in that environment and moved her out. When I informed Executive Director my Mother was moving out end of month, she reminded me that they required a 30 day notice which she agreed to waive. However, when I asked for a refund for the last months rent see her response: "We have addressed your concerns that were brought to our attention. We offered to move your mom's room. According to your contract you needed to give us 30 day notice, which I waived for you. Our company is unable to give you a credit for the previous months rent." The building has mold - BEWARE. You're paying tons of money for these people to watch over your elderly parent with dementia but you cannot trust anyone!

I enjoy making people laugh and I am very involved in the activities. I love helping the residents also. The Executive Director has an open door policy and she is always available to talk to the other resident's and families. We have great family nights that everyone has a ball dancing and eating. I would highly recommend this community for any senior wanting a family atmosphere and compassionate staff.
