It never ceases to amaze me how much quality furniture this shop sells, and the price of it is really good, too. Action Cancer, as the name suggests, raises money for a variety of services related to the detection of cancer, and support for those affected by cancer.
Among their services, they have a bus which travels around and is primarily known for being kitted out with breast screening equipment. They also arrange health check days where people can go along and get tested on things like their lung capacity, cholesterol, etc., as well as having counselling services. Money for such activities is raised from a variety of sources, and the Action Cancer shops are one of those.
You'd be surprised at the price and quality of the furniture in these shops. Basically, people phone up and say they have furniture that they are willing to donate. Action Cancer picks it up and sells it from the shops. I'd be in here getting bits and bobs occasionally, and I've seen leather suites and dining room furniture here that not only looks like it's barely been used, but can be up to a quarter of the price of the retail value. It's not like they have a massive showroom full of furniture, but it's worth a visit if you're getting new furniture. read more
