I did work experience here this week and was amazed at the size - and la-di-dah quality of the building. The entrance has marble floors, it's own coffee shop/cafe, swipe card security access gates complete with security guard and a foyer with modern designer couches. The walls are so glossy they are reflective and a set of nine or so television screens present the morning episode of Kerri Anne.
If you're not seeing someone at a magazine this isn't a place you can just walk into - to get inside you need a security pass and if you can't name someone that the security guard can call and speak to then there will be no entry for you. Once you get past that point however it's into one of the shiny elevators, which mainly serve as a primping station for the females, to head to one of the twelve floors.
As the headquarters of ACP publishing, this is the home to many magazines. The main ones are Cosmopolitan, Dolly, Shop, Madison and Harpers Bazaar. There are a couple of levels dedicated purely to photo studios and kitchens - yes the recipes in magazines have actually been made by the mag team and this is where they make them! When I was there Cosmo bride magazine was making cupcakes and not only did they smell delicious (guess how I found them?) but they looked incredible.
For anyone considering doing work experience with one of the magazines based here I highly recommend it. There is so much to see and so many interesting conversations to be had with the people who work here. The building is located next to some great coffee shops and is also quite close to Westfield - did someone say shoe sale during the lunch break? read more
