Chef Salad and a mixed drink

Acorn Brewery in Edgewood just raised the bar -- literally and figuratively. If you haven't had their chef salad, you're missing out on what is hands down the best thing on the menu. It's a giant, beautifully built plate of fresh greens, turkey and ham, shredded cheese, hard-boiled egg, tomatoes, and all the right toppings. It's hearty, refreshing, and absolutely packed with flavor. You'll feel like you ordered something healthy... but it tastes like comfort food. But here's the secret: you can only get it when Michael's on shift. No joke -- when he's in the kitchen, the chef salad becomes a work of art. It's that good. And don't sleep on the drinks either. The beer list is solid, with rotating taps that keep things fresh, and the mixed drinks are legit -- strong, balanced, and crafted better than you'd expect from a brewery. Whether you're into a cold IPA, a smooth whiskey sour, or something fruity and fun, they've got you covered. Bottom line: Go for the salad, stay for the drinks... and make sure Michael's working when you do.

Cute brewery in the Edgewood area with good service! We came here for a mid-day beer and lunch early into parental leave. It's super close to home, so we knew we wanted to give them a try and see if we'd be finding a new favorite! Love the atmosphere - it's comparable to that of any small brewery, really, but we love that vibe! Also a fan of the large bearded dragon they keep here. My older kids would love to see him! Food and beer missed the mark for me a little bit. The Italian sandwich was decent but a little bland, and the beer just wasn't my favorite. That said, that could just be a me thing and others may love it! I tried one of the IPAs and wasn't blown away. Since this cute spot is so close to home, we do plan on returning and trying more beers to see if any strike our fancy a little more!

Needed a place to have lunch and kill some time. Great place to hangout. The bartender Jennae (I'm sure I'm misspelling that) was wearing an amazing hoodie that showed her awesome sense of humor. She was easy to talk to and made simple recommendations where I could find a menu. Like the persons hand behind me lol. I ordered the Cuban sandwich which was a good representation of the actual sandwich. The beers I ordered was the ipa that wasn't the hazy. Then I preceded to order the dry cider from Cockrell. I was able to read my book and enjoy the fun times being had around me. Plus the bartender had keen eyes to notice something about me that totally surprised me. Great job overall.

Auburn class of 72 meets around the south end for lunch and we decided to give it a shot. Upon arrival it wasn't busy yet but soon the patrons started to arrive. Started off with one of their beers and was very impressed with a crisp cold beer while waiting for my friends. Plenty of seating in and outside. My friends arrived and shared in the libations, all pleased with their choices. Lunch menu is limited to sandwiches, hot or cold. I had a roast beef and it was very fresh and flavorful. The roast beef was plentiful and a nice medium rare. The bread was especially good. The server was pleasant and made sure all were satisfied. One of the owners also said hi and helped when it got a little busy. The decor was small micro brew esque with lots of t-shirts, glasses for purchase. Nice local hangout! We'll be back!

I cannot say enough about my peeps over at Acorn brewing. Great people, great atmosphere, phenomenal beer crafted from scratch and even a whiskey bar...come on...what's NOT to love. This place is where memories are made, laughs are shared and good times are had. Thank you all for being who you are, doing what you do and brewing the magic. Cheers!

A great new discovery not only for beer but for food as well. The town of Edgewood needed some brewery love and so I'm glad to see one open up here. Steve and I got a few beers here which we really enjoyed. I got a amber beer here which was really enjoyable and we split their mocha porter which was excellent also. Steve got one of their IPA's which was very good too. Acorn Brewing also serves sandwiches and they are excellent! I got a panini which was delightful and Steve got an amazing reuben with kimchi in it which was fantastic! His sandwich was very unique! The taproom itself was nice, quiet and relaxing. The service was friendly and prompt. I would love to make more strolls over to Acorn Brewing to try more of their sandwiches and their beer!

This is a nice relaxing place to grab a beer and snack. They have board/card games. They offer growlers to go also.

We were out celebrating my buddy's birthday today, and started out next door for some smokes and drinks. I had a plan for some choices for his bday dinner, and he opted with Ms. Jane's inside BJ's Casino. First off... this place is very elegant with a fine dining experience. Secondly, Cassandra was absolutely superb!! We all thoroughly had an amazing experience, from the drinks, appetizers, to our entrees, and the service. The Lavender Martini was top notch, and we also ordered the White Mojito. That mojito was crisp and refreshing! Two spectacular cocktails. As for our meals, undeniably unbelievable!! I ordered the 12oz. Ribeye, with Garlic Potatoes and crisp Broccolini. So crisp and a unique almost vinaigrette flavoring, with a subtle spice. As a side, we ordered the Thousand Layer Potato. My first time ever having this, but seen how it was made on a video. Simply divine. My wife ordered the Braised Bison over Polenta, with some Carrots. This is the tastiest Bison we've ever had!! We finished the evening with a Dubai Chocolate Fudge Sunday, and Cassandra gave us each a spoon to share in this decadence. Needless to say, my buddy had an incredible day of celebration! Thank you for this wonderful experience! As always, Enjoy & Happy Birthday, Wazowski!

We booked a reservation at Ms. Jane's for date night, and I'll admit the concept had me curious…read more Fine dining inside a bingo hall is either a stroke of genius or a dare someone actually followed through on. Turns out it's the former, at least in atmosphere. The service was genuinely lovely from start to finish. The host, server, and table assistants were warm and attentive. No notes there. We went with the ribeye prix fixe, which felt like the obvious call given that Ms. Jane's has built its reputation around it. The menu included a salad, two ribeyes with mashed potatoes and broccoli, and dessert for $150 plus wine. The salad was beautiful and delicious. It just could've used some cheese, and I will die on that hill. The mashed potatoes were legitimately outstanding and nearly redeemed the entire evening on their own. The broccoli was fine. Broccoli is always just fine. Then there were the ribeyes. They were enormous, beautifully presented, and unfortunately not much else. Both cuts had an excessive amount of fat and lacked the depth of flavor you'd expect from a restaurant that's staked its identity on this one dish. We make better steaks at home, which is not something you want to be thinking about after dropping $150 before wine. Dessert closed things out on a high note. A chocolate and vanilla mousse topped with genuinely delicate whipped cream. In the moment we told ourselves we'd come back and try something else. A few days of reflection later, that enthusiasm cooled but it didn't disappear entirely. The service was too good, the mashed potatoes too memorable, and the mousse too solid to write the place off completely. Ms. Jane's clearly has something going on. We just hope the ribeye isn't the thing they're most proud of.
