You can read the report here: https://files.api.ofsted.gov.uk/v1/file/50035282 There is also an article in the local newspaper here that explains it well: http://camdennewjournal.com/article/hampstead-private-school-hit-by-stinging-ofsted-report We are immediately withdrawing our children as are most of the other parents but I wanted to post this in case anyone out there might be making the mistake of thinking to send their children there. Please AVOID at all costs!

I am mystified by the one-star rating from someone from the United States for Heathside Preparatory…read moreSchool. I too am from the United States and I have nothing but admiration for the school where my four nieces and nephews have been blessed with amazing educations. IN fact, I have been so impressed that over the years I recommended it to other Americans moving to London for work. Two couples who have had their children there (family of five and four) were very happy. In fact, one family left London to return to the US and missed the school so much that they returned to UK. All of those children are grown now and are in excellent schools, two of them at Westminster. By the way, all but two of the eight children I personally know are all...wait for it...BOYS. In addition, I have had the true pleasure of watching several Heathside Preparatory School musical concerts over the years and seen those children perform admirably. All are supported so beautifully by the teachers that you can see the children's confidence emerge more and more as they play solo or in concert. It is very moving.

This is the 1st place that I ever stayed when I moved to London. I rented a room for the 1st week…read morewhilst I was looking for a more permanent place to live. The staff was very accommodating. I arrived in London at 6.30am but check-in wasn't until 2pm, so they let me (and some other folks) leave our bags in a side room and I explored the city. Breakfast was included in the rate and I ate a hearty one because I hadn't set up my bank account yet and didn't really have any cash to speak of. The food was good, filling, and all you could eat - and I did! The rooms were clean and well equipped. The showers were modern. I don't think there were many people on my floor because I only ran into 1 other person the entire time I was there. They had a TV room that I went to each evening to get out of my room and there was usually only myself and a young man from Algeria in there watching the Simpsons. It wasn't a fancy TV, but it was at least something. One thing that was missing was internet access. I had my laptop and/or I would have been willing to pay for internet access in the computer lab (which was always empty) but instead I had to go down the road to an internet cafe and use the internet there. When you're trying to make arrangements for some place to live, not having the internet is a bit tough.

I would have given this a lower rating if I could afford better. Even though it's still far too…read moreexpensive for what it is, that's city-life. This is a dormitory filled mainly with 18-year-old children, and this is the best way to describe it. Although there is a cleaning service, nothing can curb the rampant destruction caused by these brats on a daily basis. Think of a worst-case scenario for unacceptable behavior from your building mates, and Ifor has it in spades. The rooms are thankfully spacious, although often worn-down. The locations of the rooms can be an issue if it's located at a 4:00am drunken-traffic hub. The beds are usually years old and will stab you with their springs with violent prejudice. Do not be surprised to find various necessary fixtures covered with rust, unusable, or both. The staff can be short with you at first, since they spend all day dealing with the aforementioned. Be polite and mind your manners and they'll warm up quickly. After you get to know them, they can be exceptionally kind. The food provided really isn't that bad, and the portions are huge. You will probably hear complaining about certain substances provided in the Cafeteria, but it could possibly be worse. Don't expect anything gourmet. Aside from all of the above, this is a fairly livable place, although everywhere else I've lived (hostels, co-ops, etc.) has been more livable.
