When LA Fitness in Hyattsville Maryland re-opened, I was pleased to see heavy boxing bags added, and to my surprise a boxing trainer. Having to regroup my body after 8 months of covid recuperation, I was glad to meet Ace Morrow the trainer. He's not just about boxing.
1.) "Box-N-Burn" is a cardio fitness program he uses to teach "how to" throw accurately varying boxing punches BUT it's actually a cardio workout but not physical boxing; it's "shadow boxing." After a month with him, I was able to appreciate not only the cardio workout (dropped a few pounds) but got a clearer understanding of how punches ought to be executed which drew me into more training.
2.) On my 2nd month with him, I elected to learn basic boxing skills woven in with the cardio workout. It's feather-light boxing where I lightly throw my learned punches into his hand mitts, learn footwork such as pivots, ins and outs stepping, and adds body rolls; great for body mobility.
3.) Additionally from the cardio, he offers a boxing self-defense course that consists of combination punches and blocks; EXTREMELY light sparring giving me a chance to test my learned skills in punching and blocking; it's a confidence builder for sure.
4.) He is currently working out with one young man about to enter into the Junior Olympics.
He's not to be missed. Great cardio AND you walk away with some basic punching skills. He is patient and can be humorous so don't let his sculpted body intimidate you. I'm built just like him but presently wearing this skinny body for an under cover assignment LoL
He's actually a fun person to be with and learn from. read more
