We hired a contractor so we would not have to do this all ourselves. My husband and I took several days off to complete interior portion of our remodel. We had to paint and caulk a significant amount of trim, stain a wood wall and some additional wood trim, finish a patch job in the ceiling and paint the whole ceiling, we also had to finish painting the walls in a couple places. He had discarded our vent covers, which were not standard. I had to locate new ones and paint them to match our paint palate. He also made the opening to the shower in the basement extortionately wide and did not put studs at each end of the shower to allow us to install a closure for the shower. I had to identify a way to close the shower to be able to utilize it. We have now had water twice in our remodel. Which has left my husband and I removing drywall, replacing drywall, fixing all three egress windows, reinstalling carpet. All of which should have been handled with urgency from Tyson. We will also have to block in the remaining windows, pour the remaining concrete. This overall experience has been overwhelming and very unpleasant. If I had to do this all over again I would NOT! Communication, reliability and concern are not a priority. This experience has taught me a lot! 1- Put a timeline in the agreement with consequences for delays. 2- Request a copy of the contractor's insurance. I wish I had that at this time. 3- Review the contract to ensure you and the contractor cover all expectations from both parties. 4- Obtain and visit with references. (Most of his reviews are friends, family and employees) 5- Be very diligent and thorough when hiring someone to do work for you.

Thanks to a burst of warm weather, they were able to do the job the very same week! It took about 14hrs, in all. Just short of a 1 day job. We've also recommended them to a friend & decided to get an estimate on our siding for summer, as we are very happy with the company and crew. Payment options were cash, check or credit card (3% fee for using credit cards, as expected)

It was quite simply long overdue. Northern Skies Roofing bid the job, along with 2 others, plus 2 that never came out, despite our inquiries. The first impression was the the selling point: punctual, polite, straightforward, answered all of our questions, gave advice, patient & at no point pushed us for a decision... and, impressively, never bad-mouthed any of the other companies we were looking at. We didn't feel like we were dealing with a salesman, which was nice. We had to verify eligibility with the insurance company before proceeding, which took longer than expected. Still, no pressure. Bids were Mon & Tue. We selected them on Thur & work started Fri. There was just a bit left to wrap up the next day. The 5 man crew knocked out the house & garage in -14hrs, with tear off, new shigles, new vent-thingies & acthorough clean-up. That's including coming back the next day with the new vent-thingies. By then, the warm-weather window was gone & they went up in the cold to get that part finished. Pricing was reasonable. At final inspection, we were happy enough that we asked for a siding quote, as well, with no rush. I've attached pictures of the old shingles, work & finished product. Bonus Credit: The crew found Steve, my prop alien, somewhere out there during the clean-up. We've been looking for him for MONTHS!
