I will be filing with them again next year! I bought a voucher and had my personal/business taxes done with them and I was happy with the service. I would use this service EVEN WITHOUT a voucher, that should say something about the job that they did. I live in the burbs and am more than happy to commute downtown to see Steve to get my taxes done. He's a great guy, very personable and gets the job done! He definitely breaks the stigma of stuffy accountant, and is very easy to talk to about your taxes and HST and any other concerns that may be had in regards to filing. I would recommend this company to others. read more

I don't think Steve Webster cares about his customers at all. No updates, and not willing to help. I went to him desperately paid upfront, i don't live in Canada anymore. My taxes are straight forward. I was employed for two years on a work visa. I explained my complete confusion in filing taxes in a new country. I told him I didn't know what I was doing and I needed my someone to do my taxes fully, and wanted to give him full authority to deal with my taxes, meaning following up, clearing up any missing information the CRA needed to release my money. All he did was file send them off. I often asked multiple questions in my emails and he would pick and choose which ones he wanted to answer to give as little time and effort into me as a customer. I couldn't imagine seeing this many bad reviews about the work i was doing, and not feel extremely guilty and disappointed in myself. read more

Steve has been doing my taxes for a number of years. It's very easy to file with him and he is thorough and prompt and very patient with my lack of organization. I have felt confident referring him to friends and family members. Since Covid he's been working remotely so one just has to scan and send him the forms. read more

My first experience was good then the second time I thought was great until I found out that my taxes were never filed. I had tried to reach out to Steve many many times by email - but no answer. He only has a 1-800 number so I could not get a hold of him via telephone, EVER. HE DOES NOT CARE TO HELP INDIVIDUALS. I had to pay the CRA what I owed PLUS interest because my taxes were never filed for 2017. DO NOT GO TO STEVE. read more

I had my 2016 tax return done by Steve Webster. I am not trying to avoid taxes and wanted to file an accurate return to include self employment income. He plugged everything into a software program. Several unforgivable mistakes: 1) He put down an incorrect address even though I provided my address in writing. I should've looked more closely. This delayed my Notice of Assessment by 3-4 months. 2) He cancelled a meeting the morning of appointment without any explanation or apology. I had booked off work which he was informed. 3) Most egregiously, he filed an improper return which resulted in my having to pay $3000 instead of the $1000 refund. Again, I was only looking for a professional and competent return by Steve which he failed to do. Avoid at all costs. read more

Contacted them in April for our tax return which they accepted. Sent our details etc, after not hearing back for a while we sent email after an email to see what's going on. Till we realised that we are simply wasting our time. Now, over 4 months later Steve emails me asking did we get our tax sorted WITH THEM. "Hi Relika! Did you end up receiving the returns from us at all?" Steve Webster | Client Director, Corporate Tax Specialist Really, you have to ask me..? Just look at the email thread that clearly shows our emails were ignored. So he offers to do another one and of course charge the same fee.. after screwing up so bad? Me thinks not. Not overly pissed off as they don't really deserve my time, but just a warning to everybody else... keep clear! read more

So it seems that despite me giving them my investment information for my employers stock plan and them including the paper in my tax return they did not actually add the numbers into my tax return and pretty much just ignored it completely without telling me. I felt pretty silly when I went to have someone do my taxes the next year and they noticed the error. The owner has since contacted me to say the person who did my return is no longer there due to errors on their part however he did not seem very apologetic for the errors of his staff. He has offered me compensation for the matter but I am currently unsure if I trust them enough to handle my future tax returns. read more

Steve Webster did my tax return the past 2 years. He got some addresses wrong. Didn't respond to emails I send and last Years Taxes were never received by the CRA. He send me the Tax summary by email and said it was done but when I didn't hear from CRA for 10 month. I called to check on my return status and they told me they never received my return for 2017. read more

Great customer service, response time and results. I will be back next year (preferably before the tax submission deadline!) So, yes, I finally decided to address the out-of-control tax avoidance issues I've been suffering from and contacted Accubusiness via the contact form on their website. I received a quick reply from Steve and got an appointment set up for the next day. Despite not having the Groupon deal, I received the same deal-price. Well done! The small, two-man office is not the main office, so don't let that sway you...was merely a out-branch to deal with increased business - always a good sign! Steve was helpful and non-judgy! He took care of my return quickly and with much better results (yay!) than I would have arrived at myself. So, lesson learned on all fronts. Great value and extremely satisfying experience. Bookmark them for next year. read more

I have never written a review before but I feel that I have to post because Steve Webster did such an incredibly poor job of our taxes. He forgot about us, failed to respond to emails or calls for months, then when we did finally reach him he hustled and finalized things - late. Similar to previous reviews, we came to realize that Steve made many errors and we had to sort out extra payments with the tax department after the fact. Avoid this service, the cost is not worth the issues. I wish I had read these reviews before we decided to use him. read more

After preparing my taxes for 7 tax seasons for $25, I can honestly say: "Steve is whiz at the tax biz." By appointment, he was quick, accurate and never missed filing my taxes. read more

I was asked by Steve to take down this review or he would reverse my return that I had paid for. I haven't taken it down because I shouldn't have to. I was not lying and I want others to know the truth. read more

STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY & Steve Webster! We used Steve to file our taxes, as we did for the past couple years, and this year was the absolute worst experience. He was never a shining star as a tax guy but we continued to use him, our fault. There is no accountability on his end as he never filed our taxes and its now the middle of June. Even after many emails, money transfer for his 'fee' and emails saying, 'ill check on this' without ever checking or following-up. We are now scrambling while communicating with the CRA to ensure we are not heavily fined for being late! When we had everything organized weeks ahead with Accubusiness... Hire a professional, we will be next year! read more

I too bought the groupon for this tax service. I had a bad feeling right away. I have used someone to do my Canadian and US taxes for years. He did my Canadian taxes right in front of me rather quickly, which I guess is good, why then does it take everyone else a day or two to prepare? Perhaps because they check it over for errors and possible mistakes? Anyway, so far no complaints on my Canadian return. My US return is another story. He did not completely fill out all the forms, Steve said to me....that's ok they (IRS) will finished it. He could not tell me what my refund, if any I would get (not filling out all the forms). Well I just received a letter from the IRS stating that they need more information and to respond in 20 days. I emailed Steve and the response I received was, "Hi Sandra no problem. I am on vacation till June 8th till then. You could also call and just answer the additional info over phone for them too Let me know. Thanks" No, I'm sorry for this problem, no here is someone else you can talk to... I guess I just expected better service, but for $50 what do I expect. He does not have a team or a "home office". He is just Steve, so when he is out of town and you have an urgent issue, you are on your own. Sorry Steve, that is the way I see it. read more

Extremely unprofessional, and either unqualified or careless. I strongly recommend not to use Steve's services, because I had a very bad experience. (He is likely fine with simple cases, like only a T4, but not for anything more complicated, such as a rental property or self-employment income). I am a freelancer. Steve caused me a lot of heartache and cost me a lot of money this year by recommending that I incorporate "in order to save on taxes". I foolishly took his advice, paid him $500 to incorporate me, and found out the hard way that the system is set up so that you pay the same amount of tax whether you operate as a sole proprietor or as a corporation. In fact, unless you have a good reason to incorporate (you work in a high liability field, or you are making several hundreds of thousands a year, or have other shareholders you can share the income with), incorporation is more expensive because of the legal and accounting fees associated. Steve both did my incorporation incorrectly, and my corporate (and personal) taxes incorrectly. I have now had my taxes done correctly by someone else, which cost almost $4,000, and I am paying a lawyer to unravel the corporation. All told this whole thing will have cost me about $5,000. It was really a big problem. I have also found out that Steve has done the same to at least 4 other people (likely more, but I only know about the other 4). It's not clear to me what the incentive is for him to be doing things so incorrectly. This is the only negative review I have ever written (I'm not the sort of person to jump to write a negative review over some small thing) - I am doing it because I feel obligated to, in order to stop others from being caused a big headache. Also, Accubusiness looks like a "big" company, but it is actually just Steve Webster. I haven't found any evidence that Steve has any training or qualifications to file people's taxes. I'm not sure what tax package he uses, but I do know that he hasn't prepared any schedules for me in the past few years (so if I get audited I will need to pay someone to reverse engineer them). He does not set himself up with the CRA as your authorized representative. read more

It's my second year filing personal tax returns with Accubusiness, it just gets better, totally recommend it to anyone! Fast turnaround in appointments, and the filing has been accurate, fuss free, and done within minutes! Steve is super helpful and kind to share tips in order to get the maximum refund. I learnt a lot and will definitely go back there next year! read more

2015 Dec 12 - three stars. I take back what I said earlier. Finally met up on a Saturday (email issue resolved for now or will use text). Solution seems straight forward but needs to be resolve with CRA. Waiting for final tax out come but that may take months. 2015 Dec 8 - one star Avoid this business. This will be my third year using Steve and Accubusiness. I am very satisfied with how quickly I can book an appointment as well as have my taxes done. Up until now I have paid way too much to have them done. I am a small business so it costs more, but with Steve, he sends me a form that I input all of my info into and when I get there, he see's it all very quickly. I have referred others to him and will continue to do so. I saved more then double having him do my taxes with no errors. read more

I've done my taxes through Accubusiness the past few years, and it's been smooth as butter every time. The process was straightforward, zippy, and, dare I say it, fun. I'll definitely continue using Accubusiness for my tax needs, and recommend them to anyone who wants things done right. A big shout out to Steve for accommodating my schedule, it was over and beyond what I expect from an accounting firm and really helped me out. read more

Steve and Accubusiness have been doing both my personal and business taxes for a few years now and I can't speak highly enough about them!!! Quick and seamless process every time. Thanks so much Accubusiness. You rock! read more

I've had no issues or complaints - in fact, I emailed him the information and he emailed back my prepared tax returns in a prompt and professional manner. Good luck getting a response from Steve/Accubusiness if there are any issues with your return. There were some minor errors in my return that were picked up by the CRA. Repeated messages to Steve/Accubusiness were ignored for weeks. I was left to figure out what went wrong and how to respond to CRA myself Potentially ok for a simple return, but then again is it really worth the risk read more

I was recommend to AccuBusiness by a colleague who uses them, saying they were great value and saved them a lot of money. I just had my taxes done by Steve. It was very fast, only took about 1/2 hour, easy and quick to make an appointment and the fee was incredible. My previous taxes were done at H & R Block and cost $280.00. Last year I felt very lucky to have the taxes done by an accountant for only $240.00. Steve just charged $25.00 (coupon). Because of this most of my tax return comes back to me. I was ecstatic and have been telling my friends. Only one small problem. I arrived on a Sunday and the door to the office was locked, as was the elevator. I wish Steve had mentioned that in the e-mail, as I had a few moments of panic, but Steve responded quickly to my phone message, and all was well. This is an incredible service for a very modest fee. I had to call Social Shopper and ask for a refund because this guy Steve didn't even return my phone calls. And frankly, after reading these reviews I'm feeling relieved that this guy won't be doing my taxes. Back to my reliable old accountant....he only charges $60 anyway! SG read more

Horrible! Steve screwed up my simple T4 and now I have to write letters to the CRA in order to get his mistake corrected. A huge headache all due to his sloppiness and laziness.... do yourself a favour and avoid this company. read more

Had one hell of a time getting Steve to even file my 2017 income tax return. He lacks attention to detail and is unprofessional in his communication. He accepted my payment for filing my taxes...but when July Child atax Benefit was due, I didn't receive and had to contact CRA. They confirmed he hadn't filed my income tax return. So he's kept my payment for his services, didn't provide the services, and I had to pay H&R Block today to file my 2017 taxes. Do not recommend Accubusiness at all. Unbelievable. read more

Would give 0 stars if possible. Gave Steve all my information to do my 2017 tax return in early April. He prepared it at first with numerous basic errors, including putting my husbands SIN and date of birth on my return. We asked him to correct the errors and submit the return and he advised I was due a refund. After not hearing anything from the CRA in May I followed up with Steve to check the return had been submitted ok. It took a long time for him to get back to us, but he said the CRA was backlogged. I checked again in June as I still hadn't heard anything, and after not getting an answer from Steve, followed up with the CRA direct, and discovered they hadn't received my return at all. Very poor quality service, no one answers the phone at the office, and Steve doesn't communicate at all. Much better to spend a little more money and get a professional service, avoid at all costs read more

Ive used this service for 7-8 years on both personal and busness needs. They did my incorporation last year in a very timely and economical maner. The organization also provides succinct answers to my questions throughout the year. read more

Avoid this service at all cost!! They made huge mistakes on my 2012 and 2013 returns (some of which I pointed out at the time but they assured me they knew what they were doing and I trusted them) which cost me money and problems with CRA later on. I honestly believe they do returns as quickly as possible without checking their work and taking the time to make sure things are done right. Horrible! read more

Terrible experience. My husband and I both filed our taxes through Steve back in April 2016. After waiting months and months for my husband's tax return, and after sending Steve many emails to confirm that his taxes were actually filed, my husband discovered yesterday through the CRA that Steve only filed his taxes on SEPTEMBER 21! AND, after about 6 emails, Steve still wrote down the wrong mailing address. Steve confirmed on many occasions that he had filed my husband's taxes shortly after my husband had sent him all of the documentation. Now we've realized that not only is Steve completely disorganized, but he lied about having filed them when he said he did. STEER CLEAR of Accubusiness! read more

I bought a coupon for them and it was a waste of my money. I was TELLING Ty what to fill in and a couple of times when he didn't know what to do, he said he would do 'creative accounting' which sounds shady to me. The refund he calculated was way less than UFile had calculated and he didn't bother to even check after I asked him repeatedly. When he was done with me, I told him I could take my refund and mail it and he made this BIG deal about how they were such good accountants and would provide such great service, he would mail it in for me. Considering the unprofessional (Steve was bouncing a ball against the wall during my interview) behavior I had seen, I insisted in me dropping it off but he insisted on taking it. Against my better judgement, I decided to trust him with it only to find out later on that due to an error in their office (Which is a tiny office with two desk so I have no idea how you misplace such a huge envelope) they didn't send it out for more than two months after and that's only when I emailed THREE times asking about it because the CRA website kept on saying it had not arrived. If I were to type up my family's experience, I'd blow up. My aunt had COUNTLESS emails IGNORED by Steve, there was no way he didn't get any of them and when he did reply, TWO months later at least, he would ask 'do I still need to do it or has this already been done' AFTER my aunt's emails would say there was a deadline of about two weeks. And the only reason she was hounding him was not to have him redo her taxes but to get information as to why he had entered numbers in places, neither she nor the CRA guy could follow his logic. My aunt spent HOURS upon HOURS upon HOURS trying to sort out his mistakes. Completely unprofessional and ignorant. CRA told my aunt that there are BASIC mistakes made in her return and that she should consider going to an accountant and when my aunt stated this was filed by an accountant, the guy couldn't talk for almost 30 seconds. read more

The most unprofessional person I have ever dealt with. Steve claimed to know how to do my US tax return back in 2012 and he did not. He never filed and completely stopped responding to my emails. I ended up paying close to 2 thousand dollars in late fees and the return he prepared was completely wrong so I had to have it redone. I'll give him one thing, he doesn't charge much. Best deal in town to have your taxes done wrong very quickly. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Accubusiness. STAY AWAY!! read more

My partner and I had our 2016 tax returns done by Steve Webster and I can not recommend him to anyone. Buyer beware! Steve is extremely hard to get hold of and impossible after he has your fee. My partner overpaid into his RRSP and Steve told him that he had deferred the amount over 2017 so my partner would come out neutral and not own any tax. We have this in writing and confirmed by Steve. My partner then ended up with a $3,000 tax bill. I consider this to demonstrate total incompetency. When we tried to get an explanation from Steve he replied once with an unclear response then we couldn't get hold of him again. Steve appears under two company names and two locations - Accubusiness at 550 Denman Street and Accufile at 1066 West Hastings St. read more

I am BEYOND satisfied with this accounting firm. They are simply amazing. I have used them for two years in a row for tax returns and will continue to use them in the future. I have recommended a ton of friends and family members to use their services. They are always quick and responsive to my phone calls or emails and thoroughly answer any questions I have about cross province moving. I have a rental property in Toronto and one in Vancouver and Steve does a great job in covering all aspects of the properties to ensure my tax returns are done correctly. They even give you a check list of things to review before you meet with them to make sure you have all your bases covered. They have Social Shopper deals so try to get them when they're available. It helps that they are also very friendly and approachable and I think they definitely beat out the competition.
