They require data sheets from the exchanges, no worries, but they cannot understand that crypto can be TRANSFERRED, so their software can only deal with it at a per exchange basis instead of pooling everything together. Except we live in America and guess what? The laws here are trash and you are effectively obligated to use multiple exchanges to buy the altcoins you want. There is no getting around that living in America - their software should be able to handle that absolute baseline functionality. They didn't answer many of my questions. I was clear with them I am new to doing my own taxes and to please give me informed consent so I can LEARN. They didn't. I explicitly asked for a response in whether I should use FIFO or LIFO to minimize the tax burden long term and they never responded. I just had to have blind faith they're listening to me. I explicitly asked them, what is the final step after you give me the tax return and they made it out that everything was done and I've paid my dues to the government. This clearly wasn't true as I just got mail from the IRS saying I haven't paid. I was beyond explicit with them asking for ANY informed consent, ANY assistance, and they left me on read often. When an accounting firm ADVERTISES they are "crypto friendly", and their software CAN'T deal with multiple exchanges - it strikes me as absolute false advertising and I feel like I got scammed $550 for actually close to 0 work. I asked them for help getting the crypto taxes together and you know what they told me? To PAY for 3rd party software. What possible service are they providing in terms of crypto if they say I have to pay for 3rd party software. That's why I signed up with these guys - and the front desk lady told me yes absolutely they can help me - this is what they specialize in. False advertising, no informed consent, did not respond to my explicit questions, made me late on taxes because I am new at this and thought in generating my tax document, seeing as how they have my bank info - that they would formally pay it to the IRS for me. Once again, I EXPLICITLY asked them these precise questions and I was made to believe that everything was done once I signed the paperwork and paid them THEIR invoice - not the invoice to the IRS. If i hadn't asked, that'd be my fault, but I literally explicitly asked - please help me with ANY amount of informed consent here. I do not know how to do this, and they just left me on read because they felt their job was done so they didn't care anymore. Absolutely a terrible experience. Overpriced because they "deal with crypto" except they literally can't. If you claim to deal with crypto taxes and your software cannot fathom than crypto is transferrable (AS IS PRESENT IN THE SHEETS I PROVIDED, it's not that the transfers was not provided to them), then the entire purpose I even hired these guys was a lie. I feel like I got scammed and I will never be using an accountant in general again. I paid them, 550 dollars, to DESTRESS my life and generate my crypto tax return which they claimed they could. They couldn't, and told me to use 3rd party paid software. So what the heck did I pay you guys for? Do not give them your hard earned money.

I was told it would cost about 1/2 of the $189 hourly rate. It took Wilkow CPA over two business days at a charge of $350 for one simple calculation. The calculation had numerous formatting and misspellings and did not include recaptured depreciation and the judge did not credit me $28,500 in court, let alone any capital gains.

For two months, the only updates I received were that Mr. Dodge was attempting--unsuccessfully--to access IRS transcripts. On December 5, I uploaded an IRS Intent to Levy and a Request for a Collection Due Process Hearing through the CashTracks portal. These are time-sensitive documents with a December 31 deadline, yet I received no response. After calling twice on December 15, Mr. Dodge said he would call back in 30 minutes. He later admitted he had just called the IRS during that window. The update he provided was minimal and gave me no confidence the deadline would be met. When I raised concerns about the lack of progress over two months, his tone became defensive. My CPA successfully worked on multiple IRS matters during the shutdown, so attributing the lack of progress to IRS availability does not align with my experience. The communication and follow-through I experienced do not reflect a company with five-star ratings. I ultimately discontinued the relationship and pursued another solution.
