I had seen a few other places that also had sandals, however, Corcione had the largest selection that I had seen in that town. I had so many options of colors and styles that I was honestly overwhelmed. They were very friendly and were not bothered that I tried on many different pairs to narrow down the ones that I wanted. They have wrap-up gladiators as well that are not as easily seen and they can customize the length and ties to make them more flattering. I ended up with a pretty basic pair that fit great because they adjusted them to my feet, so while you can pick up some as a gift, they fit the best when you are there in person. If I ever get the opportunity to visit this part of Italy again, I would definitely stop by again and stock up.

I knew I was mistaken when I tried them on. The sandals are super well-made and high quality. While they are mostly flat, the sole is just thick enough. They aren't like those cheap sandals that will fall apart after a few months; these are pretty substantial. I bought 2 pairs for myself and 3 pairs as gifts. They have a huge stock of sandal-making goodies. You go in and look at their options on the wall, and if they have it in your size, you can take that pair right then. If you want a different size or color, they can make it for you by the next day....THE NEXT DAY. Insane!! The workers will fit you to the perfect size, too. If you don't see anything you like, ask to see their fabric and leather samples because there are probably 1000s of options you could make with their selection. PS - They have a website. :)

Venice: better, but no cigar. Was thinking I'd leave Italy without a bag, until I found Mary's Shop during a quick internet search on the way to Sorrento. Leather is very well made by Italians who have had this shop here for 110 years. Beautiful family, beautiful leather, BEAUTIFUL prices. The shop owner showed me a similar bag like the one I was interested in that was 14 years old. The bag's owner had run over the bag with his car and needed repairs. It was buttery and patina'd. Fantastic! My leather looks great now, but it will only get better. Not super heavy like my Saddleback Leather bags, but high quality, high stitch per inch, made in Sorrento leather. Surprisingly, after visiting over 30 leather shops in Italy (not counting the scores of stores of cheap stuff made in the Far East), I found my bag in Sorrento at Mary's Shop. For reference, the most expensive bags I considered were 690€ in Venice, 540€ in Florence. The bag I bought was just as well made and was marked at 290€, which is an absolute steal for a leather briefcase of this quality.

They are all about Gwenth Paltrow size which is amazing because it seems like all they eat out here is carbs between the pizza, pasta, and gelatos. There ain't no Footlockers or Sports Authorities out here (though Naples does have one FootLocker), so most Italians wear un-official gear of their favorite teams from local stores. The merchandise tends to run small. Official clothing that holds up after being washed unlike some of the bootleg gear. The employees are very friendly and helpful. And even though my teams are the 49ers, Giants, and Warriors, having a Napoli sweater is cool too. So if you're like me and want to stay hip-hop and don't wear anything smaller than straight leg jeans this is your spot for sports wear. Justin Beiber wears skinny jeans... I'm just sayin...

Italy, Spain, Belgium - they all have beautifully colored uniforms. And because we were in Italy this shop had just about every major player on the team. If wearing someone else name on the back of your shirt isn't your thing - you can customize your favorite team's jersey with your own name and fav #. Select the font style you like the best and according to the staff the stitching is done in about an hour. That would make for a nice souvenir for someone back home, huh? Staff was friendly enough; the store was well stocked and very clean, and prices seemed reasonable (even after we did the conversion rate). We didn't purchase anything but it was nice to look around.
