When we were there it was very hot and we had quite a long (and uphill) walk to the car ahead of us. We were looking for some quick refreshment to recharge our batteries, but most of the shops on the strip near the beach were either cafes or of the souvenier variety. Luckily we stumbled across 5 Frutta & Gelato. 5 Frutta & Gelato offers a big selection of smoothies, juices, and gelato. I have to say, the menu is sooo enticing after sweating it out and baking on the beach. The pricing was a bit steep, but on the other hand, they were the only smoothie/juice shop in the area, so I guess they can set the prices they want. The only downside I could think of was that the shop was tiny and there was just 1 worker there. So, it was a bit of a squeeze amongst sweaty tourists and a 5 or 6 minute wait. But we got the goods and they were great. Four stars.

We had some Amarena Cherry, Chocolate-Mint, Mango and also chestnut flavoured gelato. All four of them were very tasty. Amarena and chocolate-mint are always great, but chestnut isn't that easy to find, so you definitely should try that. The Gelato here is fair priced, the texture perfect. Nice, smooth, creamy. Real quality ice cream. And it shows: it is quite popular and depending on the day there might be a line. Surely we'll be back next year for some more.

In America, I like to get the waffle cones but these were so much more expensive, I settled for the sugar cone. The staff did not speak English, so this was a little difficult but I did order the raspberry sorbet and really enjoyed it. We sat outside and had a beautiful view of the gulf and the city. Parking is just across the street but is not free.
