Update: if you were a client of Acadia be advised that I found the records for my dog at West valley Pet clinic, just wish Dr G would have sent out an email to clients about this change and closure of the practice, but there Is a note on the door of the Acadia office about this. I had an emergency with my Dog Tuesday and called the Acadia office and the message stated that the mailbox was full and that it no recording referring to West valley Pet clinic. My dog needed immediate attention, so the only recourse was to go to Adobe Animal hospital to get urgent care for my (my dog had been to Adobe before for urgent issues). All this could have been avoided if clients of Acadia would have received a simple email explaining its closer and where records for their pet are or a recording on their phone referring to West valley pet clinic. read more

Unbelievable. The business is closed, but Dr G didn't even have the courtesy to notify any patients. My dog, who I've spent thousands on (ECG's, x-rays etc). had his auto-ship prescription cancelled with no notice. When it didn't arrive and the website showed it was out of service, I called to hear a voice message that they were closed permanently. Really? It was too much work to do a mailer to the patients? But you could send postcards all day long about service reminders!! Honestly? This vet is not an animal lover. Good riddance. I am so furious today as my dog needs his heart meds, and they didn't hand any records over to the West Valley Pet Clinic, so here I am scrambling to get my dogs meds... I live 2 minutes away from this veterinary clinic, so of course I decided to start bringing my dog here. After my first visit, Dr. Eric seemed kind knowledgeable and caring so I decided to stick with Acadia. Unfortunately, that has changed. My dog has a heart condition so I take him in for x-rays, blood work, and echocardiogram appointments, however, I rarely receive follow-up in a timely manner and sometimes I don't hear from Dr. Eric directly at all (unless I complain, text Kandie or email). In general it's hard to get anyone to answer the phone to make appointments or ask questions. I've called 6 times in a row (on more than one occasion) trying to follow up on appointment and medication requests with no answer. There seems to be some kind of issue with the front and back office, as they're extremely disorganized and typically aren't on the same page e.g. I've given notes to the front office about my dog's medication that never made it into the system for the doctor to review. I've also asked countless times to be set up with their online pharmacy, as they're consistently out of stock on my dog's heart medication but it still hasn't happened -- I was told they don't have enough patients that need the meds to keep them in stock (imo one patient should be enough to order a bottle or two). Even small things like getting approval for NexGard through an online pharmacy like Chewy is a pain to deal with. My orders on Chewy and Petco kept getting cancelled because they do not provide approval within a timely manner. I finally got through to someone named Gabby and after 2 phone calls and 2 email exchanges I thankfully got it approved through 1-800-PetMeds. FYI I've asked for paper prescriptions more than once but they were never provided. I'm sick of hearing "the doctor is in surgery" as an excuse for not following up. You have non-surgical patients that deserve your attention as well. If you cannot maintain a schedule that allows for follow-up, answering questions, picking up the phone or responding to emails, you should either hire more staff or stop seeing non-surgical patients. My dog deserves a vet that shows genuine care, concern and follows up on his health but unfortunately it feels like he's falling through the cracks at Acadia. I've reached my breaking point and will no longer be taking my dog to Acadia. I cannot confidently recommend this veterinary clinic to anyone and have removed my positive recommendation on Nextdoor. I've attached a screenshot of the latest email I sent them, which unsurprisingly hasn't been responded to in a timely manner. RE: I took my dog in Monday and was told I would hear back Tuesday, but it's Friday afternoon and I have had zero contact from Dr. Eric or Kandie about his echo. UPDATE: The doctor called me Friday at 2:52pm, I believe he's a good doctor and genuinely cares about animals, but his clinic has poor communication and time management which leads to less than ideal experience. I truly believe if they had an organized office manager things would be a lot different. So I found out that Acadia closed two days ago when I took my dog down to Adobe for tummy problems and they search for her records at Acadia and they said " records can't be found it closed down" Not even an email from Acadia about this!!! These guys have closed down . We have been going to them for a long time. And we did not even get note saying the clinic is closed. It's only when I called to set an appointment, I got an automated message saying they are closed since February 17th and moved to west valley clinic .. I called west valley and they said they are not associated with Acadia though the doctor (Dr. Eric .G) will start working with them soon. They maintained that it's like I am taking my dogs to a new clinic and will have start a relationship with them. I will need to get a new physical for the dogs and then go from there . My family has been taking our pets here since 1995 when Dr Jones owned the practice. Now, as an adult I take my own dog to Dr Eric. He's great with my dog - very kind and gentle and she excited to see him. He takes a lot of time with his patients to explain everything and answer questions. It never feels like you're rushed out the door. Lastly, while I lived in Austin my dog was suffering from recurring episodes of SIBO and vets there just treated each episode with meds, never trying to resolve the overall issues with her gut. It wasn't until I moved back home to CA and got my dog back in with Dr Eric that he recommended completely changing her diet, which, thankfully has kept the SIBO episodes at bay for almost 3 years now. Doctor Griesshaber explained the entire process to me, performed a thorough examination of my dog, and his attentive office gave regular updates throughout the day. Dr. Eric reached out to me immediately after my initial review and was very apologetic about the lack of communication. He also went on to explain that he had been experiencing difficultly with having reliable techs/staff (especially during COVID) and was putting in measures to have better accountability on his team for following up with clients. He gave me a direct line to him if I should should have difficulty getting a response within 24hrs from the clinic. We went over the results I had been waiting a month for, and he also offered to take a look at my pup the next day over a concerning skin condition that had developed recently. Though it seemed to be nothing serious, he took some extra time after the examination to also do his due diligence to research that there was truly no cause for concern. It wasn't the first time that Dr. Eric had examined my a look at my dog over a worry I had, and didn't charge me for it. Though I was very frustrated over the communication issues, I appreciated that he acknowledged the problem, is taking preventative measures, and did what he could to help. I am willing to overlook past mishaps given the quality and level of concern and responsibility he's demonstrated. Update: After my poor review, Dr Eric made adjustments to the item I commented about, pricing it competitively. Also a few weeks ago I had to put the family dog to sleep, and they (Dr Eric and staff) were caring and thoughtful and respectful. And overall Acadia is a good vet and I have found Dr Eric goes out of his way to get opinions from others if an area is a specialty outside of his knowledge, which I appreciate immensely. Here are areas they could improve in that would make me give them 5 stars: Chewy - approve prescription requests electronically therefore eliminating the delay of writing a paper script and mailing it to chewy to process an order. Pricing - be more proactive about price monitoring and competitiveness. Website/Email - ensure the email listed is up to date and pick one, not changing it yearly, for smoother communication. My email communications were sometimes lost to cyberspace or not delivered due to email issues. read more

This veterinarian is top notch. We have been using them for many, many years. Though we pre-date the current doctors tenure, the change in management/ownership never caused us a moment of concern. Dr. Griesshaber and his whole staff are thoroughly empathetic with the dogs we've brought to them, as well as with us, the family that loves their dogs. Acadia has taken care of our previous pet cats and current dog for years. And we generally had a good experience. However, our most recent experience was very disappointing. I took our dog Bailey for treatment for a gimpy back right paw Thursday, Dec. 3. He'd been favoring it the past 48 hours. The day before, his groomer said she spotted a fox tail in his paw. I advised the office about this before they treated Bailey. Dr. Griesshaber said he didn't see a fox tail but instead treated Bailey for a bacterial infection, prescribing an anti-biotic and giving us medicated pads to wipe his paw. We used a cone to constrain Bailey from going after the paw. We departed for Washington by car Tuesday, Dec. 8. We saw little to no improvement--he continued to favor the paw and constantly tried lick it--so we called Dr. Griesshaber from the road Wednesday, Dec. 9. He stood by his diagnosis and suggested he could prescribe a cream anti-biotic at a pharmacy in WA. Much to our distress, Bailey continued to suffer (favoring the paw and desperately trying to lick it) as a result of the misdiagnosis. Consequently, we took him to the vet my son uses in Lynnwood, WA Dec. 17--we could not get into any place before that. She immediately saw the fox tail in the swollen tissue between his toes and popped it out. He went on an antibiotic again for a week and an anti-inflammatory medicine. From there, he quickly recovered. I called Acadia and told them about the misdiagnosis. The technician said she was sorry. And that was that. I was disappointed in the lack of any follow up by Dr. Griesshaber and Acadia. read more

Dr. Griesshaber has been caring for our pets for over a decade. He is skilled, experienced, knowledgable and compassionate. He is also great about referring you to a specialist when that is necessary, and he referred us to top notch specialists when our pets needed that. When we took our MaoMao to his first annual check up at Acadia, Dr. Griesshaber noticed a cancerous mast cell tumor early and operated to remove it promptly. This excellent care not only saved MaoMao's life but also protected him from a lot of suffering he would have had to endure if the cancer had not been caught early. We are very grateful. read more

I have taken my animals to Acadia Veterinary Clinic for more than thirty years, long before Dr. Griesshaber took over from Dr. Jones. Fortunately I had never experienced an emergency and the clinic was always well staffed with competent and friendly employees. Then Covid hit. Dr. Griesshaber is the only vet and he seems to have only one vet technician and an assortment of young ladies who I believe are high school students who assist in the afternoon. One is enormously lucky if a phone call to this practice gets answered or a message ever gets a response. Recently one of my cats started vomiting in the afternoon. I thought she had eaten something that didn't agree with her but it became clear in the evening that she was not getting better. I took her to South Bay Animal Hospital after hours and they quoted me $2500.00 to run labs, x-rays and a few other tests that became a blur as I was focusing on the hefty dollar amount. The office visit alone was close to $200. My cat seemed stable so I said I would take her to Acadia first thing in the morning. Amazingly the phone was answered at 9am when I called and I was told that they had no appointments and the cat would have to come as a day stay. I was told that the doctor's first appointment was at 9:30am so to be sure to have her there by 10am. I assumed she would be seen after the first appointment. She was not examined until well into the afternoon. Labs and x-rays were done and I was told to pick her up at 5:30 pm and that the doctor had seen nothing out of the ordinary on her x-ray but the x-rays and labs were sent out for review and would be back in 2-3 days! My beautiful animal wasn't eating or drinking and by the next morning I left them a frantic message that she was getting worse. By 4:30pm I finally got someone who picked up the phone and told me, giggling nervously, that someone would call me back asap. I finally got a call from the vet tech at 8:30 pm and was told that the cat's liver functions were up and the radiologist had diagnosed a diaphragmatic hernia which needed surgical repair. I never once spoke to Dr. Griesshaber in person. I spent the next half hour frantically looking for a surgeon at every emergency clinic within fifty miles. A few clinics were so busy that they had closed their doors to emergencies and there wasn't a surgeon to be found. My husband and I rushed her back to South Bay Animal Hospital where the quote for the surgery was $15,000.00. We sat in the car combining credit cards to come up with the amount needed. They said they would stabilize her overnight and do the surgery at 8am. They didn't get her into surgery until 2pm and she went into cardiac arrest on the table and passed away. On our way to pick her up, we ran into Dr. Griesshaber's vet technician who was leaving for the day and we told her what had happened. It took Dr. Griesshaber another three days to call me to discuss what had happened. The radiologist stated in his report that the stomach was not visible in the abdomen on x-ray and it appeared to be in the thoracic cavity. My question is why Dr. Griesshaber, who has been in practice for more than 15 years, missed this when he looked at the x-rays. We could have had the cat in surgery on day two instead of day four. A message to Dr. Griesshaber ... I have said this to your face so it shouldn't be news. You cannot run a successful veterinary practice when nobody answers the phone or returns calls. Now, mistakes are being made and unfortunately my poor cat suffered the consequences of you being overworked and understaffed. My heart is broken at the loss of her in our household. Like an idiot I persisted and tried to make an appointment to get follow-up labwork required on my other cat following treatment for hyperthyroidism a year ago. It's been two weeks and the call I was promised to set up an appointment has not yet happened. Fortunately, I have found another vet. Lab results were delivered in a phone call by the vet within 24 hours. There were numerous competent and friendly vet technicians who made the visit go very smoothly. You're a very nice man, your vet tech is a saint to put up with how many hours she is working, but if you don't improve your communication and increase your staff count you soon won't have any clients left. read more

Dr. Eric is wonderful! He takes the time to ensure that your furbaby isn't just "another animal" or "part of the job". I love how you can submit pictures of your pets to be hung up in the office too. He took care of my family's beloved dog, Maci, for years. We were sent a sympathy card from the staff when we had to put our sweet girl down last year. He also takes care of both my parents' cat (who absolutely HATES going to the vet, but is so well behaved there) and my sister's cat. Let me continue by saying, that I could have written this review two years ago when I started taking my two senior dogs to Acadia, because I knew I had found a gem...but I never got around to it. When you visit Acadia, what you will discover is a team of people, who are not only extremely competent and professional, but also friendly, kind, enjoy working together and enjoy their jobs. In a Nutshell: Precise diagnoses, skilled surgical procedures, exact Rx dosages and clear communication. This is only the second yelp review I've ever written, but I really couldn't go another day without doing it, because you see folks, I had to put one of those senior dogs down a month ago. You will never know what it feels like to hug, kiss and pet your dog as he passes away...until you do. What I can tell you, is that the kindness, compassion, and the environment that they prepared for us was everything we could have wanted or needed it to be. I think that covers it.....Great veterinary healthcare, by a competent group of caring people. read more

I just checked Yelp to see if they are in fact still in business. Today I took my cat to a new vet. I would love to return to Acadia as they are much closer to me (my cat and I don't enjoy prolonged car rides with yowling), however I'm not sure how I can continue to see a vet I can't get in touch with. I completely understand COVID difficulties, however I work in healthcare myself and things have kept running throughout this past year despite difficulties. This place was great when Dr. Jones worked here. Dr. Jones was the best vet I had ever taken my animals too. I also really enjoyed how close the location was to my house. I would have to say though that I will no longer be coming to this Vet office for two main reasons: 1. The last three times we have come here we have always had bills for over $1000. 2. The hours they have posted are from 8am to 6pm. Every time I have come here I have always received a call to come pick my cat up at 4pm and bring her back the next day at 8am. The third time I took my cat I was really upset about this and asked why I had to come pick my animal up early and the response I got was that the Dr. wanted to go home early. I really like supporting businesses near my house and gave this clinic three chances. I think from now on I will start making the longer drive to a new vet because paying more than $1000 per visit is starting to look more like a human medical bill than an animal one. read more

I have been taking my pets here since I was a little girl - so probably 25 years or so (I guess my parents took them when I was that little). Dr. Jones owned and ran Acadia for years and has sold it to the Griesshabers (as I understand). Anyway, Dr. Jones is the best. He really helped my cat Marble, and dog Buffy. Buffy had to be put down when I was 13 and the transition was done there. It was a sad day, but Dr. Jones is so professional and so was his staff at the time. I can't say I know both Dr. G's yet very well. I have met with them a couple of times about my two cats and they were very knowledgable. Both times I went in for emergent basis - one of my cats is accident proned - some procedures were recommended (and I went along with) that were rather expensive, i.e. x-rays with no demonstration of actual pain by the cat, and eye drops for some kind of nerve problem they thought he may have had. I get that things are expensive when you have to take your babies in to the vet...so it didn't bother me. The staff there is as friendly as can be and very attentive. Of course my cats hate going to the vet because they know they are going to be poked and prodded, but the staff always comes in and oooohhhs and ahhhhs over my little ones. Because, quite frankly, they are the cutest ever. It's a family feel to the place and everyone seems very genuine and caring. I would recommend taking your pet to Acadia. read more

Upon seeing so many great reviews, I was super thankful to take my dog in for a day stay as they had no appointments but could see him in between appts. I never not once received a call from the vet as told regarding findings/recommendations. They were quick to call and take payment over the phone. I had informed them upon pickup of my animal that I never received a call, tech told me to go ahead and drive home as I would receive a call later that day. Never got a call, called the following morning and was told vet was way behind on numerous phone calls. I had to request a receipt and recommendations through email which they never sent as was told they would do so as soon as they charged my card.
