Everything vacuum cleaner. Buy new. Repair old. Clean and recondition old to make like new. Bags. Parts. Questions. Answers. Daughter took her old Rainbow in for repair a couple of days ago. Sure she will leave a review when it's done. I went to get bags for my 20-year-old Kenmore Magic Blue. I don't want to give this machine up because the retractable cord works like new (knock on wood, of course). The man said if I want to bring it in, they will give me a free estimate for cleaning. You better believe it needs cleaning. In 20 years, most I've ever done is dust the outside of it. When I do that, I will have some before and after photos. read more

Never did I think I would be writing a review for a vacuum shop, but the amazing customer service at Academy Vacuums needs to be recognized. I dropped off my 4.5 year old Dyson and was told that the inner brush head had been clogged with hair, overheated and then melted. They offered me a new part or a refurbished part and the cost was still going to be nearly the same as the original purchase price. Justin, who I believe is the owner, taught me more about vacuums in a ten minute phone call than I even knew was possible. He clearly knows his products inside and out and wasn't pushy on selling me a new model when I went back to the store. He listened to what I needed, laid out all of my options, and helped me make an educated decision. I really appreciated his time and old school approach to customer service, I'd highly recommend them to anyone. read more

I purchased a Bissell carpet cleaner online and after some aggressive use, it wasn't working anymore. Academy Vacuums fixed it under 48 hours and offered to look up my warranty information because they said it was new enough to be covered, and it was! I used the budget I had set aside for repairs to get them to do a thorough cleaning and overhaul of the machine which was a great value. Couldn't have been more pleased. Friendly professionals and they loaded the machine into my truck for me when I picked it up. I'll buy my next machine from them instead of online because I want their business to thrive and they carry a well-curated stock of excellent quality vacuums. read more

I had a Rug Doctor that I needed fixed, dropped it off there and a week later was told it was fixed, they put a new cord and brush on it along with their company sticker. Under the assumption that everything was back working I went on a job only to discover the machine was not fixed and didn't work. I went back to them and was told that I would have to pay an additional service diagnostic fee along with whatever fee that they find in regards to the problem. No refund, no apologies, no nothing. If you're trying to get something fixed there proceed with caution check to see if it works, do not go off of their word because they're probably lying. read more

They did an amazing job fixing my vacuum! The power switch on my Dyson vacuum stopped working and I was told this place is the place to go! It was a bit difficult to find (the sign needs replacing) but once I found it and brought my vacuum in I knew I was in good hands. The guy at the desk was very friendly and has a dog with him in the store (don't worry, the dog is very friendly) and made dropping off my vacuum very easy and quick. They keep your vacuum for a few days to evaluate it and give you an estimate on everything before they give it back to you. They took about 3 days to get back to me (that's how you know they are busy) and they did a very thorough examination of my vacuum and told me everything that was wrong. I approved of the fees and they went ahead and cleaned, tuned up, and fixed my vacuum. When I went to pick it up, they told me what I need to do moving forward to extend the life of my vacuum and they sent me on my way. My only little issue was when I went to pick up my vacuum they mixed up my vacuum with someone else's and I had to explain that the price for this vacuum was not the one told to me on the phone. Apparently it was a new employee who just started working there and mixed them up. No biggie! P.S. I think this business could use a much better sign so it would be more visible to people passing by. The sign is kind of faded, small and out of date. Definitely go here for your vacuum needs! read more

Family owned business right down the street from Target and Tops. They sell Simplicity vacuums which are durable, with metal components, instead of cheaply made plastic materials. They have different options from light weight vacuums to vacuums with lots of attachments. The best part these vacuums are made in America! Molding, painting, assembling, and packaging happens in St. James Missouri. I have a simplicity vacuum at home from academy vacuums and it works like a charm. Any time I need anything I just stop in and the gentleman who own the business are so friendly and accommodating. So there it is- made in America, good quality products and friendly owners. Worst experience ever. Bought a Simplicity vacuum from Academy on 7/2019. Machine has a one year warranty. On 12/22/20, I brought the vacuum in for service as the as the vacuum wasn't working. On 12/29, i called Academy and was told the motor died. Academy contacted the Simplicity rep. Ansdue to Academy's relationship/longevity with the company and age of the machine, Simplicity would provide a replacement motor at no cost to me. Life is good. I made 5 follow up calls to Academy between 1/4-1/11 and spoke with 3 different people. Each advised me they werewaiti gfor the motor to be delivered. Finally on /13, I again spoke with the owner. He advised me that Simplicity was not going to cover the motor. I repeated the above scenario with the owner and he denied saying Simplicity would coverd the motor. If so, 1) why did 2 employees tell me they were waiting for a motor and 2) why did they keep my vacuum for 1 month? ..Needless to say, I am pissed off, disappointed and without a vacuum. This is not a reputable business. The ownerid a liar. They are not deserving of a rating. Record your discussions with this business. read more

This was my first visit and I couldn't be more pleased. I dropped the vacuum off late morning and it was ready by 4:00. The repair cost was very reasonable plus they cleaned it up and I felt like my 30 year old vacuum was brand new. Parking in back is very convenient. There's a rear entrance so you don't have to lug your vacuum around to the front. Service was great and I'm very glad I chose Academy. read more
