I've read some of the Reviews! 1.) of course prices are going to be higher to defer the cost of running a business. 2.) they've always been transparent with me about it you have a warranty take it back to the dealership 3.) any and all repairs they have taken pictures, and showed me or let me come into the repair area and showed me. 4.) always given me suggestions and let me decide if wanted to proceed with the repairs 5.) just recently had my Traverse LT 2019 in for a Shift/Park issue gave the go ahead to replace, when it didn't work! The mechanic was honest enough to say something maybe is secondary to it explained to me which was good to go! 6.) I know without a doubt! The dealership would have charged 1,000.00 or more just to fix it & the same price again if it didn't fix it the first time! All I'm saying is do your due diligence and if you're not satisfied with what they say? Just leave! But they have always been straight with me! Especially Adam! Been going there since the late 2000. Failed state inspection for bad ball joints - fair enough. Also told me one of my back up (reverse) lights was out. Quote for repairs: $1,700 to replace the ball joints and alignment - $44 to replace the back up light bulb. What I paid: 1.) $8 for 4 led bulbs on Amazon and 5 minutes to replace both back light up bulbs 2.) $532 at a shop in Statesville NC to replace the ball joints and alignment. read more

I went in for a quote on my air conditioning system which had stopped blowing cold air. They charged me $140 just for the diagnosis and then came back with an extensive list of what needed to be replaced. It would fully cost me at least $1600 with a likelihood supposedly of another $1500. Meanwhile, I went to Walt's Radiator in Lexington and they told me that some O-rings were leaking and they would need to replace them along with one of the compressor fans and recharge the Freon and the total cost would be about $350. I now again have a working AC system. Therefore it is my opinion that AC Auto is not being honest in their quotes...or at the very least inaccurate in their diagnostic procedures. read more

AC failed my car inspection claiming excessive suspension component wear. I took it to TWO other shops both of whom said the wear was minimal and the components met state standards. In fact, the second shop passed my car. AC's hyper-aggressive "courtesy" inspection tried to frighten me into over $3,000 of "needed" services. Never going back. read more

I unfortunately need to reduce my review based on recent experiences that I believe are a result of a change in ownership. I had break work here and while they replaced my default front brake pads, they did not replace my squeaky default back brakes. Their prices have also gone through the roof and they now make customers go through a gauntlet of suggested services after a simple service such as an oil change. In the past I had sent my wife and daughter here but can no longer. They have shifted from customer care to the almighty dollar. It's a great disappointment as they were my go to place for many years and suggested them to so many. I sadly can no longer do this. read more

I took my 2013 Corolla to AC Auto to get an oil change, brake work, and a cabin air filter. After all work was completed, I picked up my vehicle and noticed when using the air, a loud "whirring" sound was occurring. I took the vehicle back to AC Auto after a couple days to have them look into the sound. After their investigation, they stated I needed a new HVAC Blower Motor and quoted $160.65 plus tax. I declined having them fix the blower motor, and decided I should investigate. Upon opening the cabin air filter box, I removed the air filter which was clearly misshapen. Beneath the filter, I found a large ball of lint/insulation in the blower. Upon removing the ball, the air conditioning functioned perfectly without the obnoxious sound. I've been going to AC Auto on West clemmonsville road for several years my husband passed away last year and I do all my stuff by myself now acros when doing oil change told me I had an oil leak well I have body vehicle from a dealer ship and it was still under warranty so when I took it to them they told me I have no oil leak when I called and asked to speak to the manager I spoke with the owner and he told me I had a oil leak unless I come and showed him where it was when my dealership says I have none at all that he wouldn't refund me my money back where they put dye in it which the dealership told me I should never have got put in my oldest chick to see if I have a leak but I asked him if I could get a refund of dollars which it wasn't asking for a lot they owed it to me because I do not unequivocally and I wasn't letting him raise it back up on the lift for anything because my car dealership fixed something they found wrong with my car when I took it in that was the cost of $576 that I didn't pay anything for and why would they have fixed it and not fixed an oil leak if I truly had an oil leak. They also told me I had a light out over my license plate tag but when I tried to go advance Auto to get a new light for my license plate tag advance Auto told me nothing was wrong with my light and so I didn't replace it as well so be careful where you go and what they do if you don't know nothing yourself because not only before I took it to my dealership I took it to a place on Lexington road and they told me I didn't have an oil leak as well so be careful especially you ladies that are out there by yourself I don't trust AC Auto center for nothing in the world now and I told him I was going to do a Yelp if they didn't pay me back my $90 but I had been going to them for years and trusting them with all of my vehicles I can guarantee you I wouldn't recommend any of you going nor shall I ever return.... I was denied service because I was missing 2 vents on the interior. I went in to have my ac checked as I believed one of the lines might have blown and was told they can't work on my car because my interior "wasn't in factory condition" even though everything that needs to be there is there. All switches work, everything is operationa, I'm only missing 2 vents. I don't believe that's grounds for a denial of service but what do I know? read more

BEWARE, sending someone to get their car looked at here if they're inexperienced in cars because it will send them out that door with a huge unexpected bill that wasn't necessary to begin with. the owner is money HUNGRY. that's all he's looking after is himself and how much he can get off an elderly woman who doesn't know any better, or a young inexperienced driver who's just getting started. he will have his workers offer some crazy service that is supposedly needed when it's truly not. so basically, just like any dealership, they will sell you anything so he can make that dollar. It's honestly sickening due to the fact people like me who is not experienced with cars at all if it wasn't for me going to family members who have decades of experience in automotive and asking if this is really something I would need, then I would've been hundreds of dollars in the hole because people wanna make money the wrong way. all I have to say is your best bet is to go to a mom and Pop shop where they will genuinely take care of you and not try to scam you or the elderly community with bogus upgrades, flushes, etc. read more

Confession: I know nothing about cars but I hate hearing strange noises, seeing random lights, or going above the suggested mileage for an oil change. I have recently started going to AC after my mom suggested it and have had no problems. The employees are very nice and always call you with updates and suggestions about your car. They also send out several coupons by mail and accept the Sychrony Auto Care credit card. If you work or live near by they will provide you with transportation and each time I come it seems like they are always willing to finish up your even car if it means them staying a little later. read more

AC had the job done on time and spotted an additional problem that I had them fix while they were in there (and didn't ding me for bringing them a part instead of buying it from them), but the bill was much higher than I expected. I had to pay these people around $2,500.00 , they said they replaced wheel bearings in the front 2 wheels and replaced 2 sensors,,and the sensor wiring pigtail,,, and some unknown intake gasket that the Chevrolet garage can't find from post inspection of there work,,, the pigtail they replaced ,,, yay they did that,, but they left it on my motor somewhere and it went into my fan , bashing my radiator,, the wheel bearings they replaced, must have been after market parts , because the wiring brackets are in the wrong place and can't hold up the wiring for the anti lock brake sensor so they used zip strips to hold it and now it's being all chewed up from rubbing in the tires,, my brake calibers when they re mounted them they mashed the rubber covering was mashed into the bolts , destroying my brakes,, ,,,, 2 of the Chevrolet garages that have inspected there work have signed statements that I should sue them,,,, veiw the pictures for yourself ,,, ive been in contact with the state attorney Generals office,,, just saying.. read more

The technician told me that the check engine light on my Subaru lit up because of a faulty mass antiknock sensor. He said that he would have to perform a more complete diagnosis for more than $100 and that if the sensor wasn't the problem, I would probably need a new engine. He told me to return in two days for a followup. I thought the statement about possibly needing a new engine was was a bit strange, to say the least After I drove home, I checked for a loose gas filler cap. Took my Buick Century in to have the circuit board repaired as my odometer and gear shift display was out. Dropped it off and was told with the next day being a holiday that I wouldn't have my car back until the day after it. They let me use a loaner for that time. I rarely feel the need to comment....We took our BMW in for a transmission flush and I felt bill was high ( later found out the BMW dealership would have charged less for same services) we had our Mercedes in at the same time( for a different repair )after a week the problem was diagnosed and we were given a quote to repair of 9k-10k . I don't trust them or their mechanics. I chose to go here for oil changes because I worked close and could drop my car off while I worked. EVERTIME I got my oil changed, they found something that "needed" to be fixed on my car. I declined each time and had my husband look at the problem they mentioned. Some problems mentioned were legit, and some were bogus. I decided to go ahead and get my state inspection there while I got one of my oil changes done, and they failed my inspection because they claimed my tie rods were bad. I refused to let them do the work because they quoted me 3x what my husband and I could change them for, and ended up taking my car to another mechanic for the work. I mentioned that they failed my inspection when I went to pick the car back up, and that mechanic said they weren't that bad, and that they would have never failed inspection anywhere else. Since I already paid for a package of 5 oil changes, I continued to go there until my oil changes were all used, and this past time go my tires rotated. (I mean, tire rotation is pretty simple, so I figured it would be fine to get that done there) WRONG! After I picked my car up from the oil change and tire rotation, my car squeaked every time I turned my wheel to go around a curve. So now, I have to take it somewhere to see why it is squeaking. Strike 3, YOU'RE OUT! This is not a reliable auto place! read more

AC, we are so very sorry that it took us this long to write you a review..... AC is a great mechanic, and quite possibly an even better person (which in my experience is an odd thing to say about a mechanic). My wife and I had borrowed my sister's car to drive to Michigan for a wedding in July 2016. The car started gushing brake fluid on our way, and we were fortunate that the incident occurred near any shop that was open on Saturday.... let alone a GOOD one. He was very honest about the condition of the car, and actually recommended that we get rid of it rather than having any work done because he believed that the extensive rust damage would soon require other repairs (by the way, it started leaking fuel about a year later). We chose to have him do the repair anyway, which he performed well and at a very reasonable price. His entire staff was kind and helpful, and since it was hot that day, they even allowed our sweet 8 year old pitbull to come inside to have some water and enjoy the air conditioning while they inspected the car During our visit, we also witnessed AC perform one of the greatest acts of kindness that I have ever seen. I would love to go into detail, but I wouldn't want anyone to think that they should try to take advantage of him because of his good nature. Great customer service and technical expertise. After some effort was expended, they were able to identify the root cause of the issue I was having, a noise in my breaking system, and fix the problem. The staff was courteous, even when I was frustrated, and went out of their way to provide me with a good experience! The women at the front desk (who's name escapes me), the general manager, made the experience extraordinary! While there I overheard that she was working towards becoming the proprietor of the business, and I must say that they would be fortunate to have her in that role. I imagine this company, which operates within a industry often known to lack trust and in some case ethics, would thrive under her leadership!! read more

I do not know how this place has good reviews. My mother is 70 years old and they charged her $400 for ignition cables that can be bought anywhere for $40 max!! They charged her $135 for a diagnostic check that Mock Tire does for $35!!! When I asked why the lady at the front desk says "we aren't Mock Tire"....clearly!! She told me that charging $400 for parts that cost $40 is not unusual and that it was a good deal because of the warranty. She made zero attempt to address the fact that my Mom was charged $1,110 for spark plugs, ignition cables, an oil change and inspection. If you want to get taken advantage of and have your repair prices 2-3 times higher than anywhere else, by all means use AC Auto!! read more

They had not even taken my van into a bay to start any work on it. Told me that it would be the next day. Why make an appointment for me if they are not going to honor the appointment time. I like that AC Auto puts quality first. They are the only shop I've ever been to that offers 3 year 36,000 mile warranty on their repairs. They aren't the cheapest place, but that's because they use high quality parts. If you bring your own parts, they'll put them in too, usually; needless to say, this doesn't include the 3 year warranty. They also have a free coffee and beverage station, and a free shuttle to drop you off and pick you up when your car is ready. Plus, free loaner cars if it is going to be a long repair. I've seen people come in with a complaint after a service they had recently with AC, and the technician ALWAYS fixes the problem for free. Best Auto shop I have ever experienced by far! read more

I've been a customer of AC Auto for a few years now. So when I receive a flyer from them advertising a $15.95 oil change I think hey I've got to get my car inspected anyways may as well get an oil change while I'm at it. Now don't get me wrong AC Auto seems to do good work and they are usually quite friendly. But don't send me a flyer offering a $15.95 oil change if your gonna charge me $20.74 plus taxes and fees for the service when I check out. I understand it's only a few dollars but its the principle of the thing. I called them up and asked them to take me off their mailing list. Good service and good guarantees on their work. They have a nice, pleasant waiting room with amenities. The people are very nice. As of late, they are always looking to up-sell you on something that is wrong with your car. A simple oil change takes an hour and a half because they poke around your car until they find something to try to sell you on fixing. Nothing is simple. There is a difference between notifying you of legitimate concerns and blatant up selling. It didn't use to be this way, but it becomes very frustrating to deal with them. read more

After receiving mailers for a few months, decided to give them a try. Overall, good work. However, my husband went in today for a routine State Inspection. When he returned to his car, he found his RX sunglasses broken. When he went back in, he was basically told sorry, nothing we can do. They must have been broken prior to your arrival.
