So what do I feel about Able Group? Well I was able to get an appointment for a boiler service and subsequent repair on a Saturday which is very helpful and convenient being a temporary worker because if I don't work I don't get paid. Engineer very pleasant. He showed me the leak in the boiler and it definitely needed repair. I would have liked a quote in writing from Able and a written appointment confirmation. Expensive I felt and I had to chase the call centre up for the over the telephone quote. Will probably get my boiler serviced by the manufacturer Vaillant next year to be on the safe side. I felt this company were quite pricey to the point they wouldn't be my first choice again. read more

I feel tricked and misssold. Paid £128 for someone to NOT be able to fix my window - they claim that because they serviced it (even though it didn't result in it being fixed and being able to actually open my window) that this is why I was charged. If feels like a big money making operation - I asked about call out fees and what if they can't fix it and they assured me they would be able to, but then the engineer that came round said he would have told us it was unlikely that they could fix an old tilt and turn window. They threatened debt collection if I didn't pay so I just paid. I'm sure the service can be good if they can actually do the job, but they lured me in with promises they couldn't keep and I won't use them again. Don't trust them at all. read more

I called to book someone to come and sort a wasps nest at my house. They told me someone would be available to visit between 8 and 12am the following day. Having waited in, they called at 11:30am to say they hadn't even managed to get hold of somebody to organise the job. What an absolute waste of my time, completely disrespectful. Job cancelled. AVOID AVOID AVOID! 230 pounds for a visit to put some tracing bait and another visit to inspect it.THAT IS IT ! Their website says they reaolve your problem....After the second visit they said that it was sorted when they found out of 5 trays just one of them had a nibble and i need to pay another 90 pounds if i wanted peace of mind to set some traps. Agreed then the 90 pounds turned out to be 98 plus vat which ended up 120. BUY YOUR OWN TRAPS X 6 FOR 10 POUNDS AND DO A BETTER JOB. Ended up paying 350 pounds and every time they sent someone else back. Great tactic to avoid any confruntation and just raise shoulders. They probably subcontract smaller companies and just get money for nothing. Ps. Not a hoarder house immaculately clean and eventually caught the mouse myself. Charged a rip-off rate for two visits where absolutely nothing was done apart from a promise to revisit which hasn't happened. Told them the loft lid access was very high. Turned up. Ladder not long enough. More than a week to hire a ladder (??!). Second visit. Water pressure is non-existent. Needs a flush. Didn't bring flushing equipment. "I'll come tomorrow". Cancelled. Two weeks and we've made no progress. £189.60 an hour....! Update: Apparently this is all my fault...silly me...I have to call the tenant, see when they're available, wait for them to respond, they tell me, I call Able, they call the plumber. Plumber isn't available then, he tells Able, Able tell me, I tell the tenant, wait for them to respond, see when else they're available, I call Able, they call the plumber...you get the idea... Except...last week they were quite happy to liaise with the tenant directly... Them: "We have to have your card details to make an appointment you see". Me: "You already have them from last week. You also arranged the appointment with the tenant directly last time." Them: "Well er...(2nd bs excuse)..." Whatever...I'll do all the organising for you. I got a plumbing job done , when completed there was a leak from my tiles but the plumber said it was safe and I trusted him.After one day a leak into the building wall occurred going through my wall to downstairs, leaking into the block hall from the ceiling.(Fortunately I have no one beneath my flat) I contacted them again, they told me they would have sent someone to check, but after chasing for 10 days with emails and calls,the customer service started to hung up on me when mentioning the reference number. All they could say was that I signed for the job. I tried several times to explain that I had a serious issue that occurred after ,and after being told nothing similar would have happened, and it was their job's fault. They kept ignoring me. In result I called another plumber and he told me that the replacement of the piece they made was badly executed as they put it in the wrong way, causing the leak into the wall. 180P wasted. plus the extra cost of calling a new contractor. read more

I booked an oven installation on behalf of my 81 year old grandmother, a 3rd party company LMR hearing services cane out to complete an installation. 8 months later my grandmother had her boilers serviced and the engineer noticed that there was a gas leak from the poor installation and immediately disconnected the oven. So technically my grandmother has been living with a potentially dangerous for 8 months. I contacted Able Group earlier today and they only guarantee workmanship for 6 months....... therefore unable to assist unless we pay again??? A guy named Andy was condescending as he said "after work was completed" he doesn't know what could have happened, I said "c'mon my gran is 81 what could she do to the oven". I have also asked for in writing that they only guarantee their shoddy work for 6 months..... low and behold I have nothing yet. My elderly father's boiler stopped working but his regular heating engineer was not available. Fearing he would be without hot water for a long period he foolishly phoned the first company to come up in a google search - The Able Group. The engineer came and diagnosed a sensor fault but persuaded my father to replace the water pump also 'in case that goes too'. He said he could not fix it that day so returned the next day, did the work and left a bill for £840 which indicated that labour costs were £158 per hour. So not only was he scared in to having unnecessary work done he was drastically overcharged. read more

My mum from north west England just hired someone and engineer (sent from a company called Maine Heating and Plumbing Services, Manchester subsidized by the Able Group) just looked at heating system, but did not attempt to fix it. Unfortunately, had to pay £75.00 plus VAT not mentioned over the phone for 30 minutes of drivel. Didn't come across as honest. Of course after requesting refund, the company offered a replacement valve at extra cost of £60 not including the labour and VAT, despite claiming nothing was wrong. Shame on them exploiting vulnerable home owners! I hope you get enough bad reviews to be shut down irrespective of the fake good reviews Admin posts on Trust pilot! THIEVES! read more

Booked an appointment for an emergency call out took our card details and gave us a time slot. Called us an hour before the slot to advise they couldn't get anyone out til Tuesday. So we're now back to square 1 looking for another plumber with water coming through our ceiling. AVOID! read more

Cancelled my original appointment after the time slot had started. Then were late for the rearranged appointment and didn't bring the replacement shower that had been agreed. Tried to increase the price of the job by over £100 after the plumber had arrived in my house without the agreed replacement shower, despite the fact I didn't need anything that wasn't already included in the written quote. They admitted it was their error but tried to blame a new member of staff and refused to honour the quote. They also said that they wouldn't be able to do the work for a couple of days despite the fact I'd been waiting in all day and the plumber had already been in my house then left saying he'd be back in about 30 minutes after he'd gone to get the agreed shower. Left me in the lurch at 4.30pm after I refused to pay the increased price. Luckily a local plumber kindly came out to do the job for me that same evening for less than half of what Able tried to charge me and he did a great job. I hope other people will learn from my mistake and avoid this awful company. read more

DO NOT USE. Hired a plumber to unblock our sewage, moved the blockage further up the pipe into our neighbours property ( although our section of the pipe was unblocked the entire pipe was not!!) more distressing was that raw sewage was left spilling over in our driveway path and all into our garage ruining property inside. We had to call another provider to clear the drain and the mess and then spent 2 hours cleanening it ourselves, paid £150 for this shocking service. Our house stank of sewage and with a baby inside this was highly distressing and unsanitary. Called 5 times and was told a manager would contact us , no call back, no apologies no refund.i don't know if the service from the plumber or the company was worse but Save your time and money and hire professionals from elsewhere read more

An Able Group Gas Heating Engineer (who arrived several hours late) serviced our boiler and addressed an error message by replacing a valve but the error message re-appeared a day later and continued as an intermittent problem until eventually the boiler completely stopped working. Spoke with customer relations at Able who turn out to be unable when we asked for the engineer to visit again, the engineer didn't turn up and no one could contact him so we called British Gas instead. Thankfully British Gas identified the issue but also determined the sample point had been damaged leaving the possibility of leaking carbon monoxide. This could only have been done by the last person to touch it - the Able Group engineer. Spoke with Unable customer relations but again they don't really care now they have been paid and refused to allow me to speak to a manager. To sum up incompetent tradesman and the worst customer service you could imagine. If you wait for a manager to call back well hell will freeze over first. Have reported them to Gas Safe and Trading Standards. read more

Able group rip off We instructed the able group to visit us in regards to jet washing out our waste pipes as we had on going problem with the toilet blocking up. As Per the conversation we had with the able groups office the charge would be £136 and this would include everything including washing out the pipes. When the 2 men arrived they Informed us that all they were there for was to unblock the toilet, we explained to them that they should be there to clean the pipes out, all they did was open the drain cover flush toilet and the billed us for £136,,,,,,,, put in complaint with company but they still charged us for a job they didn't even do. I would not recommend anyone to use this company they are thieves and liars. read more
