Freytag, on the contrary, carries plenty of books in English along with books in other languages. I found several titles and maps that served me well on trips I took to Budapest and Prague after leaving Vienna.

I went in here on Friday morning looking for some gifts for kids and found a couple of cute teddy bears - they had everything from a giant horse to miniature pandas; very expensive though, paid 85 Euros for the horse (giant is a slight exaggeration, a 6 year old comfortably hauled it around for a long time, wasn't as big as she was), and then the price jumped to 35 Euros for a smaller panda bear. I wanted to buy two of one of the items, and asked if they had another one. This took three salespeople about 10 minutes to figure out and finally I was told that they didn't keep extras, but that they would call an associate store for me. No thanks in this case, but good of them to offer. Walking around was surprised that they had a descent selection of English language books, but of course a descent selection in a country that doesn't speak English as an official language is relative. A very nice selection of art supplies including canvas. Really neat pen/pencil selection including some erasable pens that were a huge hit with the step kids. Who knew. They had a nice selection of gift books and other gift items for kids, calendars were on sale (of course we are in February), but hey, who wouldn't want a new calendar with cool pictures suitable for framing. I opted to go for the membership card here - they actually have a nice program where you get a gift certificate after a certain amount purchased in a year. So it's somewhere between three and four stars, but hey, membership has its privileges and I'll be back. No Austrian puns intended.
